    • @scraps_4500
      @scraps_4500 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jadelightsword was it hard to become a pediatrician? That’s my dream career but I already have a baby, so I don’t know if I should even try pursuing it because it seems like too much to handle with a child as well :/

    • @jadelightsword
      @jadelightsword 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@scraps_4500 You should pursue your dreams! It is definitely hard, you need 4 yrs of med school (assuming you've already met premed requirements in college, but if not, you may need a post bac program), and 3 yrs of residency. It is a lot of financial and time investment (avg 200k debt and 7 yrs training in the case of pediatrics). I don't have kids myself (yet) because of that, but I have had classmates who had babies in med school or residency. They had lots of family support to make that work. Other options to look into are PA school or pediatric NP. The training is shorter and less expensive, but you also make less at the other end of it, and I would argue the way of thinking is different. But the day to day work is very similar, so that's another route to consider. Depending on what state you live in though (assuming you live in USA here....), the laws that govern mid-levels are also different, so that's another factor to look into. Good luck!

      How’s being a pediatrician going?!? My sister is a senior and really wants to be a pediatrician she is a bit overwhelmed with how long it will take to complete schooling I believe it’s 7 years? And also the debt part...

    • @jadelightsword
      @jadelightsword 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@masonsadventures1692 yes, it's 4 years of med school and 3 years of residency. And then a fellowship if you want to subspecialize, which I didn't. And then I do have 6 figure debt.....but I'm on track to pay it off within 5 years, I love the content of my job, and it's nice to have a network of physician friends for life things that happen, you know? The only complaint I have about my actual job is that our healthcare system is pretty messed up and frustrating to deal with. Good luck to your sister!

    • @masonsadventures1692
      @masonsadventures1692 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jadelightsword you get paid during residency? Yeah our healthcare system is not the best at all... hopefully it gets better soon! So even though u did rack that 6 figure debt .... it’s easy with your salary to pay that down fairly quickly but also live comfortably?

    I don’t know how other people feel about it and nothing against your beautiful face but, I would love to watch the babies eat while you talk. There is something about watching a child eat healthy food that nurtures the heart. Especially for those of us that have no grandchildren near or maybe they are grown. Or maybe those that are eagerly waiting for arrivals or this stage of life. With all that is ugly in the world this is surely a blessing to feed the soul.
    Thank you for sharing your wisdom and beautiful girls with us❣️❣️

    Your videos are chock full of information, which is awesome. You've cut out all the silence between sentences to maximize your content density, I get that. I also get that on TH-cam there's pause and rewind so it's not like we have to take notes or memorize information in real time. However I think you can use silence in an effective way to make the viewing/listening experience a little easier. Just a small suggestion. Keep up the great work!

    In my family the first food we introduce to our children is red beans. Once soft, we season and then cook it with garlic, onions, bell paper, tomatoes, cilantro, a little bit of tomato paste, and a little bit of salt. Once cooked, we blend it to a soupy consistency, then we give it to our babies, they looove it. Next time we blend a little bit of rice with the beans. Then next time we blend rice and meat with the beans, and so on. That’s for lunch. For breakfast we introduce them to fruits specially bananas.

    Love your video! It's really helpful to see how you actually cut the food. I've done babyled weaning with my older son and planning on doing it with my younger son as well. We live in the netherlands where they actually advice you to start introducing solids when your baby is 4 months old. So we started with single ingredient purees and porridge for month 4 to 5 and always giving them a spoon as well to hold. From about 6 months we introduce the foods to grab themselves. It's a bit of a mix, but worked really well with our first son :)

      Fellow Dutchie here! I start at six months old with my baby. The 'consultatiebureau' advices to start between 4 and 6 months old but with breastfeeding it's better to start at 6 months according to the WHO (cb also advices this in their yellow breastfeeding 'groeigids') I'm still on the fence if I'll start with puree or pieces.

My LO is 1 week away from turning 6 months and we started her with carrot puree with breastmilk then a few days later avocado with breastmilk. But I forgot about your videos cause I first saw them last year, so i came across them again last week. So today I gave her a banana and did great! A little messy lol, but she enjoyed it, had fun and my 5 yr and 2 yr had fun watching her learn too. Thank you for the encouragement!!

    Just wanna say a huge thank you to you Ashley! The banana with the stem was such a genius idea! Cz when I tried giving my baby the banana without it it was a total failure. But now he can hold very tightly onto the banana and he enjoys it so much! (Although he licks on the banana peel for majority of the time)😂

    Loved the video as usual!!! I didn’t do baby led weaning with my first but I would like to do with our next kid. I did start with avocados though, I smashed and spoon fed to my son. Loved the idea of cutting and letting them explore the food. I must say that after he was already eating more regular food I started actually searching for recipes and found some great ones that he started eating at around 9 months and has been loving it until today (26 months), one example is this oatmeal balls that he absolutely loves and eats all the time. I wish you had left the give away window open for longer. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to watch this video when it was posted 🙁 would have loved to have a chance to get that book. Still looking forward to the next video in the series!

    Love the video! Such a handy tool you use for cutting the food! Question about the oatmeal. You say just follow the instructions on the package. On my package there are none. But when I make oatmeal for myself I use milk. I boil the milk then add the oatmeal and cook it. Animal milk is not allowed under 1? Do you use water? Breastmilk? Plant-based milk?

      You can use any of the above, I usually use water. :) It’s up to you! 😊

    Thank you for posting this series! I’m getting ready to start BLW with my daughter, and these videos have made it seem way less intimidating and have given me a big boost of confidence. Can’t wait to learn more!

    Love baby led weaning, shared this video in a BLW group. Although no one at any age should be eating a chickens period/menstrual cycle 🤮

    My child is almost 6 but here I am watching this video. lol Sat down to watch one video and I here I am down the TH-cam rabbit hole..... What a great video though! I never ever bought baby food and people thought I wasn't feeding my daughter properly because I reused to buy commerically produced baby food. I found it expensive and unnecessary.... and if I wouldn't eat it, I didn't want to force my baby to eat it. I could feed her 10 meals of sweet potato for the price of one jar of baby food or I fed her what we were eating just chopped really fine. I honestly had no idea about baby led weaning but it was the same sort of concept that I had. I did make my own baby food which was incredibly simple although this is the exact video that I wish I would have seen 5 1/2 years ago. I had no idea that I could give her solid foods without chopping it finely or pureeing it. I really hope new moms can learn a lot from this video. I wish I had this info when my girl was a baby.

    My daughter's first food was banana puree at 5 months, and now at 7 months she loves holding onto her own pieces of food and gnawing on them!

    Great video especially since my fourth and last refused to be spoon fed from the start and definitely wanted what we were eating she is now 9 m and eating everything that we eat ( with exceptions to choking hazards and very salty dishes ) loves avocado 🥑🥑🥑

    This video is very helpful. I just started introducing solids to my 6months old bub. Originally I planned to introduce avocado as her first food but I tried potato puree instead but she didn’t like it. I regret it, tomorrow I’ll let her try avocado and just by BLW I hope she likes it.

    Thank you so much for this video Ashley! I’m feeling much more confident now about how to prepare food for BLW. Especially when you explain why finger size food is a great idea 😅. Hope all well with your family and your girls 😀

    Hi there. How do you know when to increase feeding baby from once a day to twice a day to thrice a day? Thanks!
