    We decided to escape Gauteng lockdowns and winter to spend some time in the Bush at Mapungubwe National Park.
    Our group was made up of myself and my wife Elmarie, in our Defender 130 towing a Conqueror Comfort trailer, our daughters Bronwen and Catherine in Catherines new Suzuki, and Johan and Johlan in their Land Cruiser.

    Hi Bruce, I saw the same vid by Ed that inspired your trip. Well done for making the trip. Very cool. What vid editing software do you use?

      Thanks Brett. It’s changed since the first stone we visited there in 2008 but one of the more enjoyable NP’s. I use iMovie. Not as professional as the other guys 😂

      Thank you so much Dirk. It truly is awesome there and we plan to visit there again soon. Maybe in summer so we can play in the mud and see the Shashe and Limpopo full of water. Will be spectacular

      Had an amazing weekend there this late weekend stayed in the forest tented camp for the first time and also got engaged! Must say the waterhole in the west was a treat, but definitely would love to see it in the wet season! I drive the same Jimmy in the video so was awesome to see!

    Lekker. Can you remember the song at 17:30?

    • @OverlandingwithBruce
      @OverlandingwithBruce  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t but will try and find it for you. It’s actually in there as a mistake. TH-cam sent me a copyright claim so almost in a panic I chose a song from a list they suggested and used it. It unfortunately wrote over all my talking etc 😂 I suppose that’s how we learn. I will have a look though maybe I can pick it up for you.

    Awesome video Bruce!
    A question concerning the track / route you drove, I have a hilux 2.4 gd6 2x4 diff lock, would I be able to drive the route and make it through?
    Avoiding the soft sand as much as possible however.
    I do have wrangler duratrac tyres which have helped with traction in the past, not even 10k kms on them yet.
    I am somewhat kitted out with traction boards and tyre pumps should I need to deflate tyres and so on.
    I'm very keen to drive this route, it looks amazing and there's never routes like this one in other sanparks reserves.
    I look forward to your opinion!
    Cheers, keep overlanding!

      Thank you so much Ashley and thank you for watching. I’ve still got a lot to learn about this whole TH-cam thing. I would say you could do most of the route we did without any problems but there maybe one or two spots that could catch you out. I also wouldn’t go down onto the river banks as you will get stuck in the very think sand there. Go and enjoy. The one or two places (except river banks) that you could get stuck you will get out using the sand tracks. - but I doubt you will have a problem. Enjoy and safe travels.

      @@OverlandingwithBruce thanks for your reply Bruce!
      I too am getting used to this TH-cam thing, it's easier than it seems.
      I'm glad I saw your video, I've been so tempted to just go and do the trail but been put off because of the unknown and seriousness of the trail.
      Your video / videos are nicely detailed which is fantastic, one can judge what to expect from your videos.
      Wife and I are definitely going to go, I'm thinking March / April to avoid much of the rains and hopefully no serious muddy patches along the trail.
      I appreciate your advice, we will avoid the river banks and deep sand patches.
      I have extendable 4 meter sand tracks and a winch, rear and front, hopefully I don't find a need to use them! Hahaha
      I will post a couple of videos of our trip and the trail, keep a look out for an update on the reserve.
      Thanks Bruce, keep well.

    Just be careful of lions.... I visited the park in July 2022 and saw lions twice in the western section..

    • @OverlandingwithBruce
      @OverlandingwithBruce  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes exactly but it good practice anywhere in the bush to be aware of dangers. We saw lion spoor less than 500m from the campsite also.
