We were also in Mapungubwe some years ago. We travelled also with our 79 Cruiser and a Conqueror Commander. It was an awesome experience and at Mazhou camp I experienced what it is like to wake up in The Garden of Eden or Paradise as in the bible book Genesis. The bird songs were incredible.

I hope to see a video about your new setup, the canopy and all. In your last video you were still talking about the Red-arc battery system. Love the canopy look.

Great video! Great memories, we got engaged there last year on the lookout deck. The hide is just the best, had elephants come right up to the hide to drink the freshest water, was breathtaking!

Hi James! Thanks bud, really appreciate it!! I can just imagine those lookout decks being the perfect spot to ask the big question!
I really think that hide is one of the best! I didn’t get to see elephants last time but still had great sightings 😊

Beautiful video. Yes, meat and meat sound good. You give valuable information on the distance between the western and eastern sides. Mapungubwe is a magical place. I have only been to the eastern side, as our stay at Leokwe was very short. Sadly, the field and mopani trees are totally over grazed. The baobab trees are destroyed by all too many elephants. They have wire around the stems, but it was left too long. We specifically went to see if we could tow our caravan to the park. We were shocked to see the state of the roads. I never imagined that the N1 would have so many dangerous potholes, which makes one wonder why we pay toll on the road. Personally, I would not suggest towing a road caravan on either of the roads.

I drove from Johannesburg to Bela Bela, then to Marakele, then back to Bela Bela and up the N1 to Musina then to Mapangubwe in a normal Suzuki sedan. We did this in May 2024. There were no potholes of any depth at all. The section south of Musina was patchworks of tarmac but not holes. Then the road to Mapangubwe was 99% perfection with just one section of very shallow holes. We stayed in Leokwe for two nights.
