She and her former bandmate (from Red Host) later formed a project called Mrs Piss its pretty heavy. She also collabed with King Dude, did her own versions of Burzum's Black Spell of Death.
Her former band mate Jess Gowrie from Red Host, is Chelsea's current drummer and also co-founder and drummer in Mrs Piss, their album Self Surgery is awesome
I remember finding this album randomly a couple weeks ago and when I put it on in my car, I fell in love with the whole thing. It is so beautiful and dark and terrifying and unique, with an opening track that gets my heart racing, and a closing track that leaves me in tears every time, I highly recommend finishing the album and reacting to each track because the entire thing is absolutely gorgeous and has quickly become one of my favorites
it pleases me to no end that you are witnessing my favorite artist Nikki...I requested this song at the time because it was a fresh release from her...her vocals transend any style, genre, or musical direction she chooses, so it's pointless trying to categorize her...here are a few suggestions from her earlier works, Carrion Flowers, Feral Love, or The Culling...honestly after seeing your reaction to this song, I know you're going to enjoy anything from Chelsea Wolfe 🙂
my favorite Artist ,Chelsea and Ben just make magical Music, Apokalypsis is still my favorite -also love the Mrs Piss Self Surgery album with Jess and collabs with Russian Circles,Emma Ruth Rundle,Myrkur,Converge,Sausade,King Dude amazing voice amazing artist
oh i love this reaction. i love chelsea wolfe since 2012 and her album "Apokalypsis" and i am looking forward to see her live for the second time in june. her new album was just released today. hugs from berlin
Great to see that you got to this artist. This song is an example of the slower softer side of her music. If you want to hear a harder rockier song of hers then try 16 Psyche.
I've always thought you have a bit of a Chelsea Wolfe look about you - I may have been one of those who'd commented before - she has mesmerizing eyes!! Her back catalogue is quite a rabbit hole to go down - "Feral Love" is wonderful, part of a longer film (I have a copy of it that she released on a wooden USB stick that's a lovely object in itself!), but worth checking out the individual video... There's an amazing Amoeba clip of her doing 'Movie Screen' live that's hypnotic... But you can't go wrong picking any of her tracks! I do prefer her earlier stuff, and songs like "Gold" are just magical. It's worth going through her whole discography, it's quite a journey hearing how her style changed over the years yet still remained very CW. There's folk, goth, metal, doom, ambient... The list goes on - but you can hear an evolution in her ideas and how she expresses herself. A remarkable artist! It would be interesting to hear you check out some doom metal, and some stoner sludge stuff too :)
Really, until you started speaking, I was wondering how this Nikki person got Chelsea Wolfe to introduce her video. A video that I would suggest checking out is "Mer". It has a lot of symbolism in it. Though she does occasionally go speaker shaking heavy, she never screams, though she did have a guest screamer on her song "Vex".
Chelsea has a side project band Mrs Piss, the band is Chelsea and drummer Jess Gowrie, there's a few tracks where she actually does scream, they're not guttural screams, but they're definitely screams...there's a live playthrough of their album Self Surgery that's worth checking out, she also did some blood curdling screaming near the end of the title track for Bloodmoon, the collaboration album she did with Converge
if you want to check out more about chelsea wolfe: there is a brandnew tour documentary out since a few hours: th-cam.com/video/G6eoOlqC1eU/w-d-xo.html
Yeah, Chelsea is very hard to categorize, especially since her music has such a wide range of sounds to it. She's some sort of Indie-Gothic-Folk blend of style, with a lot of experimental flavor to it. She's one of my favorites, though; I have most of her albums (I especially love Abyss and this latest one, She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She - jeez, we're gonna have to abbreviate that thang, maybe call or "SROTS" or something, lol). One reacter said that it's like Björk and Marilyn Manson had a daughter... I'm not mad at him for it. Speaking of which, as a huge fan of both Chelsea and Marilyn, I've been dreaming of a collaboration between those two for years and years. "Chelsea Wolfe ft. Marilyn Manson" (or visa versa) would be so dope.
On the quick, you do look similar in appearance Nikki, I really love Chelsea's work, the way she's able to journey through various types of music and still sound like Chelsea Wolfe, this new upcoming album appears to be veering toward a triphop like path.. there are already some great suggestions in the comments, but if you'd like to see anything live by her, a little more on doomy goth side, then I recommend Dragged Out, Survive, Vex, After The Fall, or Spun from her performance at Oya Festival, or perhaps, (wishful thinking) you could check out the whole show...she also has another band with her drummer Jess called Mrs Piss, which has elements of heavier rock/punk and doom..I do hope you dive into more from her, oh and for a more metal side of her, she did a collaborative album with Converge, check out the title track Bloodmoon
You were saying that you aren't sure what this song would be categorized as, I *think* it's considered gaian doom, which is a genre that's a mix between doom metal, ambient, and folk. I could be totally wrong on that, but my Spotify Wrapped said it was one of my top genres and I do listen to a lot of Chelsea Wolfe so SURE WHY NOT. I think this song sounds an awful lot like something Thom Yorke from Radiohead would do, like I can totally imagine him singing this song.
As a fan for at least the past 5 albums, she frequently changes genre. Many of the "witch house" fans of Apokalypsis were upset that she went industrial metal with her Abyss album, etc., etc. Even I have a hard time liking her last album Birth of Violence because it is a bit too folky for a complete listen through, but still has some great songs.
OMG you look so much like Chelsea herself!
Yeah! I saw the thumbnail and thought, Chelsea Wolfe reacts to herself?
😂
I friggen am obsessed with this song!!!
would love to see your reaction for Whispers In The Echo Chamber song!

Iron moon by Chelsea Wolfe hits my feelings hard
I'll have to check that one out. 🤔

@@nikkireviewscool! her new album is even better than expected. you could try "everything turns blue" or "whispers in the echo chamber" as well
p.s.: yes you look a bit like a younger version of her, thats true :)

Bjorn + goth rock + blues + house music.
Weird stuff, but interesting
For the more Doom Metal side of Chelsea you should check out Chelsea Wolfe - Spun(Live Audiotree Far Out)
The whole Oya festival recording (where Spun is the second song after the intro of Carrion) is incredible, in case you haven't seen that.

I can see that being a good mashup! 🎵

the Oya Festival footage is amazing and sounds incredible, I would love to have been there
the two towers in the background are pretty creepy!!!! I like her vibes tho
I agree, I felt the creepiness too!

When you get a chance you should do only love can save me now by The Pretty Reckless
id say you look more like Avril than Chelsea. but i can see the resemblence.
