Her face when Emma starts singing says it all. She's such a force...such an incredible talent.
Anhedonia means an inability to feel pleasure….& the director of the music video, Cressa Beer, explained the concept of the moths like this:
"The core idea of the video came from an artist and mutual friend that Chelsea and I both love, Jess Schnabel [Blood Milk Jewels], who created a 'grief moth' inspired by real moths that drink the tears of sleeping birds. It's an idea I've wanted to animate for a while. So, that became the backbone of the project: the lifecycle of a moth literally born from overwhelming sadness. From there, the video grew into a reflection of what I was experiencing during quarantine, as I found myself confronting my own grief and deeply rooted trauma. I suffer from PTSD that envelops me like a black void. I wanted to visually articulate how that feels, as well as feelings like disassociation and loneliness, the way that trauma can physically alter your body and mentally reshape the world around you. But still, the moth can fight its way out, can fly, can follow the light. Just like the comfort in the final verse of the song, I wanted to still show that healing is possible…….”

wow first time hearing and now in love with that
oh yess, one of my most favorite singles this year. I even loved it so much that I made a lyrics video to that on my channel with some clips in the background which I once took with my camera. The song really moved me and helped me in my worst times especially in this covid phase.

i've been through some dark valleys myself, so this kind of songs speak to me.
speaking about this topic and getting out of it, "stranger" by anna von hausswolff came to my mind. great song, especially the live version

That was indeed dark, especially the subject. As regards "dark and beautiful", I'd like to recommend the song "Creepy-crawlies" by a one-off Norwegian project called Tactile Gemma. There is an Australian progressive metal band that I listen to, Teramaze, that has an album & song titled Anhedonia. I've never known what it meant.
It's the inablility to feel pleasure.
So they do know each other IRL and its not just about youtube suggesting you Emma when you listen to Chelsea. They`re probably even friends.

Love Chelsea Wolfe, but Emma just does it for me more. I feel as if she is more experimental with her music, whereas Chelsea is focused on becoming the new "goth/death metal queen, which is fine but limiting with her musical and vocal abilities.
This collaboration was a long time in the making, and I absolutely love it.💜
there are similarities musically with both artists, folk elements, and both have collaborated with metal artists, but "Goth Queen" was a tag bestowed upon Chelsea, maybe due to her appearance if anything, rather than something she's aimed toward in her music...the side project Mrs Piss, with her drummer Jess Gowrie, is bordering on punk, fused with sludge, and grunge..their recent live performance, is worth checking out
