Fujifilm has some fantastic film simulations, that produce amazing colors in Photos! But, they're also fantastic for VIDEO as well! The X-T4 continues to blow me away! This video was shot using the Atomos Ninja V, but there was no color grading done to any of the footage. Footage was shot in a mix of Astia, Eterna and Classic Chrome.

This addresses a main reason I've been reluctant to shoot video in past--- grading, etc. Thanks for sharing! Hope you do more on "shooting video with fuji X-t4" and the reasons for using various Fuji simulations.

You appeared as a suggested video in my feed. I've watched a few of your videos now and subscribed to the channel.... What made me subscribe to you, is that you're steering the conversation back to creativity and communication. The essence of what true art is.... I love your approach and the 'tone' of your channel..... Please keep at it and don't succumb to the gear gravy train that will certainly arrive as you grow. God bless, from Australia.

Please take us behind the scenes of your workflow on how you shoot, work in post to final video? I'm really interested now. I want to know your workflow!

I believe any photographer/ Cinematography has the right to choose any style of shooting in their compositions. Though, I do agree that there is a lot of demand of color grading and slowly the art media will soon be stale and unoriginal.
To further clarify, a lot of photos and videos will be filled with the same art style, because of "professionals shooters" claim it is the only way to make you're artwork "recognize" and dare I say it; I completely disagree with their logic.
A lot of people forget what makes photography and Cinematography so fun. It is creating and exploring different color palettes/styles. There is no definite way to capture the "perfect" "image" or "video". Everyone should follow their own style and further strengthen their technique. It is fine to take some inspiration from others, but it is important to understand that the best "gear" or the "best setup" will not help improve your art.
In conclusion, be you're own photographer/cinematographer.

wow, can you share a video of how you do this? the setting and workflow? It looks exactly like how I want. Im already considering changing from my canon r6 to fuji

i use fuji simulations instead of log because using ND filters is a pain when switching between video and pics with high base iso.

We share same thoughts about gear specs. I think in the last years, marketing and internet worked together to push you wishing gear you don't need. The difference between 8 and 10bit is negligible, for example, especially if you don't need heavy post production work. I saw people getting BMPCC4K for shooting V-Log... There's something wrong. I just got an X-T4 , over an R6 or S5, due to its color science and it's footage I saw around. Hopefully I'll not regret it! Subscribed!

I beg to differ. 8 and 10 bit is a HUGE jump, more than 10x the amount of colour information. Even for ultra low production work like shooting for social media, 8 bit was crippling (A7iii/A7Sii). The only way to get results was to create a profile that baked the colours into the footage. Any sort of post processing would lead to artifacts. Personally I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and even if others can't see it, I won't tolerate footage breaking apart. I've not handled Braw before, but I don't think there's anything wrong with RAW->log -> rec709. Even a DP by the name of Wolfcrow who uses ARRI cameras uses a RAW->log->rec709 workflow. th-cam.com/video/juIz9h-VM3g/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=wolfcrow

Fantastic video. It's very similar to my journey. I experiment with simulations and have been looking for a video about this topic. I've even tried to experiment with the recipes in video. Straight out of camera is my only option. I work in documentary theatre and intervention, and now I am having to film more of my work in interventions in communities on the go (especially covid times). I know that the being in the moment or being present as I shoot and record is vital. And I can see at the same time as I shoot and as I connect with the subject matter, the person the story, the environment as I do it. Its the closest to being harmonious and the closest it being to seeing a fully teched drama documentary piece on stage but in camera. It has taken away the technical fears or worries and consolidates the being present with technology in my hand. That's the killer moment. Life, narrative, emotion and art in situ. Chapeau again sir

At 3.34 - You have just explained the difference between a professional cinematographer (and grader) and a project that doesn't require complete control of post/colour.
A professional cinematographer will be looking to maximise image quality every shot so post has the greatest opportunity to extract as much out of the scenes as possible.
It is not uncommon in post that a scene mood change will be considered - ie creating a new look and perhaps ultimately selected.
That is not possible when a sim is used given its limited ability to deal with tonal stretch as opposed to F-Log, so for max flexibility, F-Log is the only way to go. Of course none of this matters if the project does not need max post flexibility.

I think what works best for each photographer/videographer is what is right for them. I remember coming across a "I don't shoot RAW, sometimes JPG" argument where people were going nuts. But hey, if it saves you time in post-processing, and avoid burnout then shoot in any mode you want. #vrafam
