What lenses do you use for filming ?!

My favourite wide is the 12mm f2 samyang- it’s amazing to have f2 in that focal length and manual focus is pretty easy on such a wide lens. It also doesn’t suffer the weird corner wobbles in video the 10-24mm lens does. It’s also light and compact.

That 10-24 at iso 2000 made my jaw drop. 😱 still looked cleannnn

Great video, and I will consider these lenses, but one simple question: which prime lens do I need apart from the kit 18-55 f2.8-4 (which I own) for video? think low light video capture of forests, inside buildings, 6-10 foot interviews in dim light, do I need f1.4 or will 2.0 be ok?

Thanks for watching, a f2 aperture should be doing good however having the option to open up to a f1.4 or so can be handy. What sort of prime you need that depends on the style of your shooting. Such as what’s your preferred focal length. You could check what focal length you shoot regular with your 18-55 as an example if you shot regular at 35mm then perhaps a 35mm prime would be a good option. Hope this helps choosing the right focal length

@@FlorianFrickel Great point! I will check my last month or so of shooting and will take it from there, I'm inclined to say I shoot 18 to 23mm... thanks!

@@portcorner_noise then perhaps a 18/23mm prime might be the right fit. Good luck in choosing the chosen prime lens 👍

Hi, im stuck between 23mm f2 and f1.4 for both photo & video. Any suggestions please.
    Thank you.

Hey mate. Well it’s a good question.
Technically you got 3 x23mm available.
The old 23mm - the 23mmf2- 23mmf1.4 new updated version.
I wouldn’t recommend using fujifilm 23mmf1.4 the old version or the first version. Mainly if you look for a lens which can perform both foto and video
The 23mmf2 is a Great Lens when it comes down to photo and video. Got good fast autofocus. Small size and compact WR and pretty much all you need the f2 gives you enough bokeh or background blur as well.
I personally haven’t tried the new 23mmf1.4 but following other reviews. And the updated af motor / Weather resistance and a wider aperture of f1.4 I can imagine it’s a fantastic lens
F2 vs f1.4 I found their isn’t a huge difference when it comes down to bokeh/background blur- the benefit of f1.4 will be you potential can keep your iso a bit lower then with f2 but then again the question are you planning on shooting a lot of low light ? Or eterna or are you planning on filming f-log
I would narrow it down to the following
What’s the budget you got ?
Or can you get one of those lenses in a mint condition second hand ?
What’s the primary subjects your shoot ?
Do you need f1.4 for low light ?
So depends on the answered question I’d say go with the f2 version it’s a very good middle ground between all options you got when it comes down to the 23mm range
I was very happy with it when it comes down performance/sharpness and overall performance

Nice video Florain! I was curious to know what you think about the 16-80 F4? It has built-in OIS

      Hi there.
Unfortunately I didn’t try the 16-80 out yet. However the review seems good. The ois apparently works a bit better with the neewer body’s but that’s probably just because the lens is newer. The focal range is interesting. And as an Allrounder lens for someone who just needs one lens definitley an option to consider. I personally can/could work with the f4 for. So yea should be a good lens. For someone who needs only one lens in the kit

No. Get something simpler. What do you want to do with it? What type of videography or photography? It is best to start with things like a compact, and, to be honest, most people are served best with a decent smartphone.
