Great review, was eyeing these for sometime for my 21 duramax, just a little heads up, my friend has a 2020 6.6 duramax and he had a duralast fuel filter come apart on him, luckily it didn’t hurt anything, but started choking off the fuel, started to surge, luckily he was minutes from home, when he took the housing off it was collapsed and some pieces in the bottom of the housing!
Do you recall how many miles were on this fuel filter ?. I realize miles in itself doesn't give the true picture as its more about how many gallons of fuel went through the engine as well as a time factor and if there was any water ( by condensation within the tank or from the fuel supplier ) and algae growth happening in the tank. That is one of the few good points about winter where it gets cold, the fuel itself is different and doesn't promote the growth like summer biofuel will and hot summer time temps really promotes the growth of the algae type growth.
How are you liking the new filter cover? Would you recommend any other fuel filter cover or stick with this particular one? The reason I'm asking is because I just purchased the same one and it doesn't have the tab on the inside of the cover just like to OEM ones have for the filter to click in and hold in place.
I use the Klick Wrench 36mm 25nm torque limiting socket. Works great. Cheaper than a 3/8 drive torque wrench which I'd have no other use for.

The drain sticks out below the guard so if it is struck by something it might take the whole filter housing off ????
If you’re able to hit that thing you’ve wasted a sizable amount of other critical systems getting there so it’s the least of your worries
Do you use Hot Shots EDT?
Nope I don’t use any additives.
