Sorry for late response Everyone lol. I placed a fuse in the wrong slot. I apologize for the fumbling around with the camera not a great video but I greatly appreciate everyone’s responses. MAKE SURE YOUR FUSES ARE INT THE CORRECT SLOT lol. I did have to tow my car to the dealership for them just to tell me I put a fuse in the wrong spot... it cost me around $450 dollars.
Replace your instrument cluster when the VW loses communication with any part of your gauge cluster this will happen have the same problem on a customers Jetta replace the cluster and everything was fine did have to call someone to come relearn it though. FYI everything still lit up on the cluster but was still bad
2009 Jetta exact same problem. Rpm works. Replaced computer, now starts and immediately stalls, safe on dash. I'm in same boat. Dont know what's wrong? I'm thinking immobilizer or something?? Bout ready to just sell it!!
dubble an tripple check your fuses i placed mine 1 slot over and that put my car in safe mode couldnt start. that was my issue hooking up a sub system.
Hi thanks I have the exact same problem I did take out some fuses and put back in so I think I might have put fuse back in wrong place, do you remember if the fuse that was misplaced was it the engine compartment or inside car fuse box, thanks
The symptoms look like a bad crank shaft positioning sensor since rpm gauge isn’t idling at all
I read the comments and I don't see exactly what fixed it. my 2008 jetta is doing the exact same thing literally today!

Maybe a bit late but I have just had the exact same fault on a scirocco and it turned out to be a bad gateway module. Hope this helps anyone out there

Got a GTI that has no manual how did you find out what fuses you needed for your car???...
I replaced my fuel pump and mine is still doing it. Starts and cuts right off immediately. Can't figure it out

Fixed the problem, I placed a fuse in the wrong slot when I pulled some fuses.

I took it to the dealership to get it fixed. because I was already missing fuses and I didn't have a owner's manual. It was a misplaced fuse issue.
