Many thanks for not only being precise & concise but also as you stated at the start No yada yada yada talk wasting 3-4 minutes !! Lifes too short LOL! Subscribed & will recommend! If you have any more strip down vids on MX5 I'll be sure to watch. Thanks.
Thanks a bunch for an excellent video. I'm doing an engine swap and removing the dash was definitely the best way to wire it in. Although your estimation of 3-4 hours was very generous. I did it in an hour and 10 minutes after watching this video. Just watched it a second time for the re-install. I'll be doing a build thread and I'll link this video to it. I would love to see more videos from you. All the details without any fluff. Thanks again.
Thanks for the feedback, I truly appreciate it and glad you found this helpful. Due to the extreme circumstances of 2020, our Miata build has been put on hold for now. I hope to start up with videos again in the near future.
Just completed the video and dash removal. I watched it once, then removed dash along with video on second run. Took me about 1 hour. Highly recommend. I too have started a Spec Miata. More content if you have any to add. Thank you!
Thanks my man. Picked up an 02 with 213k miles with water in the interior from the top being open for months and needed to pull the dash to clean up and pull the carpet. Awesome video
God bless you sir, watching this video saved me big time, I was all done and ready driving around, noticed my ac wasn’t working and I missed one harness that I forgot to plug in, had no clue where it went until I watched this video and skipped through it to find out where it went. 30:28 is the connector I couldn’t find, mine is black and his is white.
Great Video... Thanks very much.. really helped be remove the dashboard on my NB Miata... I hope the reinstall is as easy as the removal... It took around 90 minutes to remove the dash... you saved me hours!!! 🙂... Thanks Again!
Absolutely the most comprehensive instruction on how to remove the NB dash. I will be watching this on my laptop and follow step by step while doing this myself. Thanks a bunch! Please post other Miata instructions.
Great video: it was among two I used primarily to remove the dash in my NA for a heater box swap. Yours clarified several points common to NB/NA cars that were unclear in the other videos referenced. I left my seats installed as well as the steering wheel/airbag (though my car’s a driver vs. Spec car.)
Super helpful. I had to do this twice on a Suzuki Ignis (I don't think you have them in the US but hey!)...Amazingly the Miata dash is pretty much exactly the same except minor difference with the steering column. My heater matrix was bust...Good to have this in case (I REALLY hope not ) the matrix ever goes on the Miata. I found labelling all the bolts and taking photos as you go helped...Thanks...nice work...Intimidating job but take your time and it works fine 🙏👍
Thank you so much for this! I bought a 2001 NB recently and need to remove the dashboard because the previous owner screwed with the electronic in a bad way.
Excellent! This helps me with an issue I'm having accessing the dome light circuit, but also provides great insight on how this car is put together. Heading out to the garage as you advised!
Thank you! Very helpful video. It is helping me a lot as I need access below the dash in order to remove an aftermarket alarm. I’d appreciate it if you’d make more videos!
Great video. 👍. I wanted to dynamat my interior and hardtop roof. Your video kinda shows it’s really not worth removing the dash as there isn’t much area to apply sound deadening, right?
Any tips on how to remove the HVAC control panel? I see holes where you can stick the welding wire but it doesn't to catch onnany mechanisms to release the HVAC control panel. I may resort to removing the dash to get at it...
The HVAC panel is different. There is a (rather large and strong) tab just inside the holes on both sides that need to be depressed towards the center of the HVAC to release it. It's a little bit of a doing to remove after removing the dash and flipping it upside down, but I suppose it could be done while still in the car. You'll need something stiff that has an "L" shape, like a cut-down Allen Key that would fit sideways in the holes. I don't think the welding wire will be stiff enough.
Thanks for the detailed video. Was able to remove everything and followed the video. Now I’m trying to reinstall the hand brake, but the white brake cable is too tight and won’t allow me to align the 3 holes for the bolts to reinstall. Anybody have this issue? My brake is disengaged and still an inch away. I pulled hard but it’s resisting just as hard !
Mate I'm no gonna lie like what one is it a 12 or a 13mm? It wouldn't be much use if I made videos saying you should maybe do this, wouldn't make much sense. Bar that, cheers for the help.
WELL SO FAR, there was little waste of time until I got to 9:33 till 11:50 and that was a lot of hooplah lol "remove stereo, u need the removal tool or make your own" would suffice...

Hey man, I'd love to see your build thread (or at least what you have put together so far)! Do you mind sharing it?
Just completed the video and dash removal. I watched it once, then removed dash along with video on second run. Took me about 1 hour. Highly recommend. I too have started a Spec Miata. More content if you have any to add. Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time and making a detailed, instructional video. Spending a few min watching this saved me a ton of time and frustration.
The only video out there that has clear and detail instruction on how to remove the dash. Thanks homie 👊🏽

Thank you for creating this video. It helped me figure out what I was missing while trying to remove the dash in my 01 SE.
Best Miata dash removal video on TH-cam hands down. I tip my hat to you, sir keep making videos!

You da man!!! love that you keep it sweet simple and direct! great guide!
Thank you so much for this!
I bought a 2001 NB recently and need to remove the dashboard because the previous owner screwed with the electronic in a bad way.
I too must change out my air bag control module. This video is more useful than the shop manual.
Had the dash out for a project, thanks for the expansive video, helped me put everything back together.
Going on 4 years and still reference this video when I go to pull a dash!
Great ! thanks so much for the energy you´ve put in this.

Great commentary and good video angles makes this an excellent step by step guide. Many thanks.👍🏽😎
Best NB dashboard removal video on YT
Amazing. Extremely helpful and a great example of how an instructional video should be done!
This is terrific. Loved the detail you covered. Thank you!
Thank you for the video! Currently doing a wire tuck so this was very helpful
This video helped us out a ton! Thanks for covering every step of the process.
Thanks! We're very happy to hear that it helped you out!

Thank you for the wonderful feedback! We're hoping to get back to the Miata project soon...so stay tuned!
Fantastic, comprehensive, and definitely worth the watch. Thanks!
Very helpful. Talked me through the job in great detail. Step by step. Thank you
Buen video. Una pregunta. Como puedo quitar el embellecedor donde van los mandos del aire acondicionado y calefaccion?. Te lo agradeceria mucho
Thank you for this very helpful video. 👌
excellent video ! I need to replace my air bag module and this is really
Thanks you for the video
It is very good explaining 😁
Great work.Maybe better than Mazda's technical video.
Very comprehensive video thanks a ton!

Excellent overview thanks for providing
Well done. Very nicely explained.
Ive been wanting to remove the dimmer switch, does anyone know a way without removing the dash?
Can you change the bulb for the airbag light and stuff?
Your Video is very helpfull and entertaining too!
At 30:57 what connector are you removing? Where is the receiving end in the car?
thank you
it's 12mm. Mazda uses mostly 10mm 12mm 14mm 17mm 19mm and 22mm
Hey I was just wondering but are you still active? Is there a way I could message you?
Why would people want to remove the dash?
It’s not called a miata it’s called a Mazda mx5 it’s Japanese not American
If your not in a Japan and not a stickler about names it's called a miata
Sell me that radio and heater control.

I have a extra clip
