Amazing! This address a lot of the shortcomings of the Osmo+. Active-Z seems a lot more useful than the spring loaded version. Love that focus is now so much faster. I hope they make a prosumer version of the Ronin 4D.
Wow, while I had seen images of this circulating around over the past month or so this is FAR more exciting than I was expecting. The big question now is what price will this be? My biggest concerns are how it's almost 100% proprietary everything, which means even the simplest part is likely going to be price gouged. While I really think this has a lot of potential, and will likely result in similar products. The biggest hesitation is that DJI does abandon their old tech, which also means the this is likely to have a shorter overall life due to those two factors. Still it's great to see innovative stuff like this.
@@hopkinsfilms8028 for what's included that seems like a pretty good price, but the more I think about it the more questions I think need answers before I would want to invest that kind of money. Like how much are the batteries, and what's their run time? How do different lenses react speed wise when pulling focus? How heavy a lens can the gimbal balance? Clearly lens options are going to be far more limited than with a traditional cinema camera, and that could be a limiting factor as well. I want more info! ;)
I thaught you would be the best and most balanced reviewer about this "toy" . As speeded you are 🤪 and despite that, you are still one of the most balanced and trustworthy reviewer. 😉 Great ! Thanks.
Pretty amazing how much they've packed into this. I agree very much with the idea of being able to lock off the gimbal somehow. Aside from that, it feels like they've thought of everything. Here's my question: does it feel solid? There are so many sensitive motors on it. I wonder how fragile it is? Does it seem like all the buttons are well sealed, or will a dusty environment ruin it and start making buttons and knobs and gimbal grind to a halt? Are the E/M mounts included, or separate add ons? What is the pixel pitch 8K vs 6K? Looking at their specs, I was thinking maybe the 6K model would be able to shoot higher frame rates, but it seems like they've included a less powerful processor in the 6K version of the camera? The footage looks amazingly clean, but I'd like to see 6K vs 8K comparisons. Overall, it's amazing.
$7200 for the 6k version seems pretty expensive. I was thinking it would be closer to $6000. Thoughts? Edit: after reading some of y'alls comments and getting passed my morning brain, I agree, I do think it's priced pretty competitively. I think the biggest downside is lens options. But for certain projects and scenarios, I think this is a beast of a camera setup. Especially with all the wireless options.
Well, he said it would be priced "competitively" and it has some unique selling features that take it beyond most comparable camera systems in the $6K range. I was going to guess $8K.
It’s a camera that shoots pro res raw internally and full frame with a built in 4 axis stabilizer. 7,200 is cheap for a setup like that. An fx3 is 4500 or somewhere around there. Then you add a gimbal and you are easily close to 6000 but those gimbals also don’t have 4th axis you add an extra arm to get the 4th axis and those run for about 1000 so now we are at 7000. Then you include all the extra features it has like the wheels on the handles and built in nd and you’ve got yourself a pretty expensive setup. I think this is priced fairly cheap for what it is.
Considering all of the features, the gimbal with the extra dimension, nd filter, lidar sensor, extra handles and the 1500 nit monitor I'd say it's really well priced
The monitor on its own in most other systems would cost north of 1k. Have a look at comparable SmallHD monitors. Also transmitters are crazy expensive - see teradek.
Man this thing is really cool, price actually pretty reasonable when you consider how much stuff it comes with. 1tb ssd, handles, monitor, built in nd, wireless transmitter, etc. Gotta admit i'm a little bummed they advertised 6k/8k raw and its prores raw and not cinemadng or some other true raw.
Epiic! I wonder if they will make a smaller little brother version of this also. That interface and full system intergration is amazing, here I am still scrolling through sony's menu 😅
Love the review, When a new product is released and aaaalllll the channels get it to review at the same time and cant upload til a preset time, what to do in your vid???? killed it mate, the best from all of them
UPDATE! Ronin 4D will not include ProRes RAW but Price is lowered to $6,799
Hey Potato, any chance I can buy your E-mount adapter for this thing? :D Been having troubles getting one.
Also, any advice on the low pass filter for this? Is it necessary?
So, now with no ProRes Raw is there any recording limitations to just cut out the ProSSD and just use C Fast or USB-C out to External?
No RAW because RED owns the patent to RAW! Red is in the process of suing EVERYONE putting it in their own systems 😢

@@bobpearson6569 which spesific lens? yes i heard that older samyang/rokinon lenses have af issues, but the new 24mm f1.8 is just flawless.
This is one of the best and useful cameras I've seen in a long time. Great review man!!
This camera system is very exciting. I’m thinking of shots. Wow
Amazing! This address a lot of the shortcomings of the Osmo+.
Active-Z seems a lot more useful than the spring loaded version.
Love that focus is now so much faster.
I hope they make a prosumer version of the Ronin 4D.
oh my this is so cool
Insane is the word!
Looking forward to Cine Tracer: Meta
Very cool! I just want to hold it for some reason! 😂
Wow DJI nailed their market positioning. It fits other brands’ camera lenses…that’s so smart. And that touchscreen menu looks so sweet.
I was expecting making this 12k for easy editing meaning crop or pan control.. hey can you use the one hand pov drone joystick?
This is so well designed... Absolutely didn't expect this at all
They're definitely going to make a drone for this
You'd be able to sit in that drone....
Doesn’t the inspire already have the zenmuse lenses on it??
@@CalebBoender Yes, the DJI lenses are the same as on the inspire 2. I hope the new gimbal X9 system fits the old Inspire 2.
@@janmzb Itd be better if they put it on and inspire 3! that inspire 2 is a tired old horse at this stage
@@mmcphotographyirl I asked Dji, X9 doesnt fit on the Inspire 2. Maybe there will be a new one. I‘m a little bit tired of all the Inspire 2 bugs.
Thank you for doing a spot on review of this product… Checked out some other videos but yours is hands-down the best.
Even at +$7,000, this is still insane.
Somehow you've become the only Video/Photo channel I watch now, I don't even look at the others now 😅
The moment I realised that concept I saw years ago was true
:0
This is the best video about the dji ronin 4d so far
Has the camera/gimbal the same mount as the Inspire 2 or is it bigger?
different mount, it has 2 rows of pins where as the inspire 2's cameras only have a single row of pins in the mount
I love the risky move from DJI. Amazing innovation.
DJI: What if we put everything into one camera body?
Holy hell I was just seeing if you were reviewing and testing this very camera amazing!!!
Price is available. $7100 for 6k and around $11k for 8K.
Great ! Thanks.
What happened to the other guy - Genes friend - has he left not seen him in a while.
If you're talking about Sam I believe he is currently shooting a Netflix series
Seems like DJI came out swinging with a well thought out and unique camera
This is a technical masterpiece but still, the image quality is just ok
How do you know? They are not allowed to show image quality on pre production models.
@@travis8665 Haven't you seen the footages made by Gen, Matti, Parker Wahlbeck, Armando Ferreira....?
@@BransenPass Exactly, I was expecting this to be at least 10K
The monitor on its own in most other systems would cost north of 1k. Have a look at comparable SmallHD monitors. Also transmitters are crazy expensive - see teradek.
The built in focus system and all the detachable bits are what I love the most. With all this tech, I'm curious about the durability and the price.
why is it actually not bad lmao
Why are you here lol
this is probably the coolest camera I've seen in my life
Man this thing is really cool, price actually pretty reasonable when you consider how much stuff it comes with.

Wow I'm impressed!
Props to DJI for making such a sick Pro Camera from the get-go.
This is the most amazing camera I have ever seen! SOOOO many dream features 👍
And a very very good review man 💪😁🎥
This is the best review of them all.
It seems that DJI took a page out of Blackmagic Design's stellar playbook with this innovative camera release.
Super cool that DJI is making cameras now, this is awesome looking!
