- Have you ever wondered how to restore the headliner on your vintage BMW?
In this video I take on the task of getting rid of my old grey headliner in my 1994 E34 touring and replace it with something a little more fresh. This was my FIRST time every doing this so unfortunately this is no an instructional video. But rather something to reference if you're also doing this job for the first time, maybe to inspire, maybe to laugh at. I'm cool with either. I had a lot of fun doing this and am overall pleased with how it came out! I appreciate you guys watching. Much love my friends!

This man said, "crushed red velvet" and my heart sank - definitely had me going lmao
Hahaha one day I’ll commit to something like that and watch you guys weep😭🤝
I was actually kind of disappointed to see it be normal, even if it definitely wouldnt have worked with the rest of the interior
Got Eem!
I freaking love how dedicated you are, the amount of pride and joy that is put in every project you do is amazing 👏🏻 happy to have you back after the long hiatus
Thank you my friend! Really here to try and get as good as I can at working on cars. That is all! Happy to be back!
this guy has crazy talent on anything he does. truly love watching these videos
I really appreciate that Robert!
Doing a headliner is not easy, even professionals that do it have that odd extra bit of fabric here and here but you’ve done a seamless job here, love it❤
Thank you Dillan! I’m excited for the next go at it on a different car
The E34 looks amazing. If this isn’t the best looking E34, I’d love to see one that’s better
Haha thank you Henry! It’s getting there Forsure. I have some plans 😁
This car is one of my favourite builds on the internet, love the red and a part of me was hoping for a red tartan roof liner, maybe seat inserts, but I know that’s a lot, black is always a solid choice. Nicely done. But please get yourself a work table, seeing you work on the floor hurts my back.
Thank you so much my friend! It may get new seats very very soon😁
Trolling with the crushed red velvet, I had to look ahead to make sure it wasn’t true 😂 sick job as always man!
Haha gottttttti. Thanks dude!🤝
Need more e34 videos. Love it!
Soon my friend!
damn chromatic, every project you do is top notch. The car is looking so good
Haha thank you bro! Very happy with it so far
This has become my fav channel to watch. Well done! But I would have loved the red velvet!!!
You are now my favourite TH-camr 💯💯💯💯 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Haha I appreciate that bro! Much love
Always lookin like a G my boi
And I cannot get over how clean your edits are. Dude, 10/10.
Thank you man! I appreciate it!
Why are you so skilled? Love everything about this channel, thank you man!
Haha thank you brother! This channel exists as a reason for me to learn different skills and hopefully inspire others. I hope it’s working bro!
@@ChromaticGarage it's definitely working, it inspired me to start detailing and messing with my e38. If one day I shoot a video, I hope it has half the quality of the ones you do! Can't wait for the next!
PS: Do you ship the shirts to Brazil?
Im getting old but I just really like that table man😩 great & very skilled looking work, proud of you! 🫶🏻
Hahaha I also like that bro! You’re the man💛
These types of transformations are so satisfying, a black headliner is the go to ❤ great video !
I agree man! Thank you for watching!
Awesome job!!! I just love this e34 wagon!! Keep up the good work.
Thank you my friend! We all love the wagons!
Nicely done! Great music choices.
Thank you my friend! Hope your summer has started great!
Another masterpiece, well done mate
I appreciate you! 🤝🤝
Very nice job! I did the headliner in my E36 touring a few years ago since it was hanging, new one I put in is also black. Nice result! Still haven't gotten around to painting the handles and sunvisors etc though..
Thanks man! That’s awesome. You’ve already done the hard part. But the painting will really set it off!
Yet another classic! Such great work, such great editing 💯🔝
Thank you Raphael! Hope you have been good bro!
Thanks. E34 touring is in my top 3 list. Great video
Thanks Trevor! I agree, good long car
More than a month of waiting is too much bro !
Great vid as usual
Haha my bad I was learning how to become more financially free and make more videos
Bro, I was sooo bummed when it wasn't actually crushed red velvet... Jk I was furious haha. Black headliner just looks so good on older BMWs, great job!
Hahaha maybe next time. Thanks for watching my friend!
Turned out Great!!!
Thank you Chris!
Bravo on the thumbnail. You still keep surprising. NICE.
Thank you friend! I had a lot of fun taking that photo haha
This car is a thing of beauty!
Thanks man! I really love it
My boy is back, you killed it Mike!
Appreciate you! See you next week bro!
Did it 4 years ago on my e46 325 CI
And it took me 3 days with just to remove the foam)))
Hahaha an absolute nightmare! I know I have to do another car and I’m already dreading that part
If you’re watching this video you most likely have a stained or sagging headliner.
Looks around 😂 I have 2 Vehicles that need this done ASAP!
Once again great werk 👌 👊
Haha gotta get to atleast one of them bro! Thank you for watching 🤝🤝
Absolute cinema 👏👏
Thank you brother!
Bravo from France 😍
Much love from Canada Michael!
Great video as usual.. It's so cool..Great music for anyone interested "Cornelio - Macumba" 😎
Thank you my friend!
Nice asmr vibe bro
Appreciate you!🤝
Looks killer man. I've got to do this to my E36 Touring soon too!
Thank you Scott! Absolutely rough thing to tackle but hopefully a one and done forever type deal
Welcome back sir
Thank you my friend!
Everyone has mentioned it, but I had a different take when he said CRV....how is he going to pull this off, that's how much faith I had in you.
Hahaha I really appreciate that bro! You’re the man
Can you do a version where you play death metal background music. I did my headliner on my e34 sedan a few months ago it's really not hard if you go slow. Fantastic 540 nice work
Haha yes a sedan would be quite a bit less complicated
Thank you for blessing me with this today dad😩
Hahaha got you😎🚁
When your about to do 3 e36 headliners and chromatic drops a how to video 🎉🙏🤝
Hahaha 1 is enough. 3 is insane. Best of luck bro!
Wanna see what`s OEM ++ ? look Chromatic Garage....awsome work Mike, it looks amazing. Good to see a new Video from you...Greetings from Bavaria
Haha thank you so much Alex! I am going to move to Passau shortly!
I also got an E34 Touring with gray Headliner, but without a sunroof. I want to restore it, but I don't know if a Black Headliner would make the interior too dark. Got the bright Grey Fabric Interior, no leather.
Cars from Germany, tools from Obsessed Garage, pants from Lane Bryant.
Lmfaoooo something like that 😭
Good job bro
Thank you brotha!
Prettty clean bro good content 👍🏽👆🏽🏆🥇
If you have any wrinkles light and quick steam or an iron.
Yessir! I was actually advised to just leave in the sun first and that tightened everything up. Hyped!
"hmm chromatic hasn't posted in a while... there will probably be a video soon... or not" - me 2 days ago
Haha I was busy trying to learn how I can make more videos faster😭
I need to do this on my e46.. for over a year now.. it just takes so long and good material is expensive
It’s honestly kind of a nightmare job. Can think of many many things I’d rather do before this again haha
@@ChromaticGarage ive done it on other cars with cheaper material.. for me the glue was the worst part, not forgeting all the tedious shapes to go around and not stretching it too much. Honestly you got lucky its not a full length headlines, they always crease up in the front center
i wish my e34 was this clean! and a wagon! hahahahahaha
Just the video I needed, how much fabric did you have to order?
This was 7 yards I believe. I made sure I had enough for some mistakes
Best🎉
My man!
Long time no see
Busy busy busy! More time now 😁
Hey
I like your videos
💪💪💪
Greetings to the team, I have a problem with the third brake light on my touring car, I need a new one, but BMW doesn't sell any more, what did you do? Because the used ones are just as bad or hard to find, thanks
You’ll have to restore the original one or restore one from another car
Jesus, i think i got PTSD from this job...removing and installing a new headliner and door inserts was BY FAR the thing hated the most out of everything i did to mine.
Absolutely miserable work if you ask me and i surely pray i´ll never have to do that again!
EDIT: Came to the same conclusion as you and painted the sun roof sealing and it´s still looking good about a year later. Great minds think alike, huh?! 🤪
How did you get the panel with the sunroof button to stay? Mine doesn’t want to stay in with the new fabric? Thanks
You can’t wrap your headliner fabric over the rigid metal sections that the clips retain themselves on. Beyond that I’m not sure what could be wrong
@@ChromaticGarage ahhhh that’s what the guy prob did. Thanks man, I’ll look at it when it gets back! Thanks g, love the vids
i need to do mine but i don't feel like doing it lol
btw how big is your garage i need something like this !!!
1000sqft!
@@ChromaticGarageshoot looks bigger in the video but good stuff keep up the good work
💯
💸💸💸
What shoes are you wearing?
That thumbnail tho....any plans to open your own restoration shop?
Thanks Craig! Honestly probably not. Logistical nightmare. My goal is to be the most automotively skill diverse retail trader in the world
@@ChromaticGarage Well you are well on your way on that last part!!!
I don’t know how to explain it but I hate the way that material feels just by looking at it.. makes my skin crawl lol
hey man! ive got a 5 speed for a v8 out of an e34 530i, would you be interested in it?
Yeah man! Send me a message on the Instagram app
I can't message you through insta since we're not friends, but I shot you an email!@@ChromaticGarage
link for headliner fabric?
It’s the only headliner fabric Relicate makes. You’ll find it 😎
Is 94 530 an m30 or an m60?
M60😁
21:12 that belly…🤌🏽
That BELLY?😭
It's been a minute 😜
I hope you are doing well
You too Humberto! Much love
🤙🏾🙌🏾
🤝🤝🤝
Paid 600$ for the material and them applied it with rattle can glue. Also the orientation of the cuted pieces wasn't the same for all of them . I hould say that you're making more bad than good.
-$600 is the cheapest thing on this car
-this glue was recommended by two people that have been doing this exact thing for longer than I have been alive
-the orientation is something I was curious about and will take into consideration next time. But it’s entirely unnoticeable in the car
👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿

the old glue resdue is the absolute worst thing in the world. it sticks everywhere, it smells weird and it stays on your hands for many days...
Dude yeah it won’t come off of anything! I hate it so much haha
Black on black on black. You could black out the wheels too. Red is not black either, how about painting chasis black too 😂
Hahaha not a terrible idea
😊🔥👍🏽
Appreciate you!
You'll regret that material. The fabric will separate from the foam in like two years, and will be saggy again. Should've gone with a single layer material instead, like seude, leather or felt. I did mine in felt like six years ago, not a single sag on it since then. Also did my dad's with the same material as you and the same glue as mine, three years ago, and half of it is coming down and the car is sitting in a garage and is very rarely used...
I’m glad you had a good experience with the fabric you chose my man!🤝
🫶🏼🤌🏽
My friend!🤝
