My wife and I drove 12 hours in one direction from md to FL to get our Neiopoltian Mastiff It was well worth the journey to get our puppy.Now he's 7 months and 115lbs. My 2nd Mastiff and I love this breed.
We have a Neo and we adore him. But he HATES water and I am always sweeping up his hair! We love to take him out too - he gets so much attention and he loves it! It's a great way to get the word out about the breed.
This is an absolutely beautiful video. I grew up with this breed of dog 💚. He was brindle & absolutely humongous! Best guard dog with the biggest paws I've seen in my life! 🤣 Drool and slobber would cover his bowls especially after a drink! 🤣 But still, A gentle Giant who was so over protective of us kids!!! They are a BEAUTIFUL breed hands down. He fathered a few puppies - Few Years on they then went on to give have blue pups with a brindle streak through their coat 😍 Absolutely stunning puppy's. Beautiful breed, would love to have atleast 3 for my home. 🤗

I belong to the giant dog rescue league of Florida. I have fostered many dogs over 125lbs . There was a 4 year old pure breed Neo at a kill shelter for 14 weeks that nobody could get near because he had been so abused, & mistreated, he trusted no one. Well, I took him on, took weeks to get him to stop biting me and at times I didn't think I was going to get him to straighten up, but he finely got to a point he knew this was a safe place to be, plus he got use to me feeding him, so he doesn't bit me anymore. When I got him, he was 109 pounds and was just skin & bones because he was on the streets for months with no proper food at all. After 4 weeks of me giving him 8 cups of dry kibble & raw chicken or beef he got up to 120 pounds and at 4 months of him here he was at 150 pounds, but looking a little too fat, so I cut his food back to 4 cups a day as I know the Neo's have hip & shoulder issues after 6 years old if you don't keep their weight down when there young. He was still to heavy at 150 as he was showing signs of hip displaceha already, so I cut him back to 3 cups a day as I would like to see him at 145 pounds max for his frame size. My long time big dog vet agreed. He now is fine with me, but with anybody he doesn't know, he still does not trust and can be flat out a big problem with strangers or other dogs as he is a big boy ! He is a good dog for the right family that can take on a dog with a hard passsed, not an easy thing to fine but he is up for adoption now. Our rescue have over 40 big dogs with no homes and all the Fosters are full up to. We need the right home for this great dog so I can save others.
love this breed and this video. we are on our 3rd neo and they are fantastic BUT NOT FOR EVERYONE... expensive at the vet and very low exercise needs. agree with your comments in this vid. neo's are a special breed and need a special owner/ family.
This comment made me laugh. We have an English Mastiff female and totally know what your talking about. Vaccines for our Boston Terrier $30 for the Mastiff $100. Its all based on weight. Something I think people don’t consider when shopping for a dog. More drool, more hair, more poop and more money at the vet.

Lovely dogs, I love the neo and the French mastiff, my wife is a bit intimidated by their size so I have two old English Bulldogs they are like smaller version of the mastiff's. I can see your dogs are a lot healthier than a lot of the neo's I have seen keep up the great work

I'm actually an owner of a Neapolitan mastiff I had him since he was 9 to 10 weeks old he is now turned to years old and I've had him ever since these dogs are absolutely one of the best dogs I've ever owned I've never owned a new plant in massive until I've met my new dog Neapolitan mastiff it's a quite a good experience it opened up my eyes to what these animals were all about it's taking me needed 2 years to learn more about these dogs from my experience of owning a Neapolitan mastiff I must admit they are one of the best creatures that you could ever meet have owned or even be in present of one of these dogs these dogs are very powerful and not to mention very loving and caring dogs when I first got my dog my dog would piss on my bed if not it would pee on the floor it wouldn't bother me because it was just the way it was as you know when dogs go to a new home the nervous and things go wrong but at a time it helps me go through what I was going through at the time not to mention now moving on on 2 years now in it is now been so absolutely amazing seeing an animal this size of my yard of my own as you can see on the left side of your screen you'll see me with my Neapolitan mastiff his head is bigger than my head it makes me laugh but yes these dogs are absolutely a stunning pet to have and a very good guard dog at that if you come to my door my dog will go through the door to get to you if the postman comes to the post box and puts his lettuce letterbox but not to mention he is a lovely creature and I would never change the world for him I'll give him everything I've got because these dogs are absolutely amazing dogs it took me 8 months to learn before I got my new panty mastiff and now I will never look back❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Hi
I have yet to find a healthy Neo. Despite the fact that I only keep rescues, I see a lot of them in our veterinary practice. The types this breeder shows are much better than some extremes. Not overly wrinkled, acceptable amount of loose skin and wonderfully free gait. Many others, unfortunately, are overbred cripples with a very short life expectancy. A shame for this great dog breed.... If I were interested in a Neo that was not a rescue, I'd ask this breeder ! Never have seen better types.
So I've seen Neos that have a massive amount of wrinkles and some with little to moderate wrinkles around the face...do they have to have a massive amount of wrinkles or would I be able to find one that has less wrinkles?
In the 70s-80s they were considered the baddest mastiff in the us. Tight skinned and little loose around the neck and it’s best known for a long muzzle for biting extremely hard. And able to have great stability and natural aggression

It would be super hard to convince my parents to get a Neo. Especially as I have a yorkie at home. But if I do I would come from the US to get one from you.
great video, and you have raised some beautiful Neo's! in reference to your comment about the gastric torsion, what are the signs, we recently purchased our first Neo, Ella, and we just adore her! she seams to be a healthy girl but i do notice she lacks some of the stronger characteristics of a Neo. she's not very wrinkled, and she looks a little taller than your pups. I did get to meet her Dad and Mom before we bought her, and they were massive! The breeder did mention that her parents originally came from Italy, would that make a difference? thanks in advance!
Unfortunately, gastric torsion and bloating are very sudden, and are common in basically all the large breed... They can be avoided by splitting the daily portion of food in at least two smaller meals, and waiting at least one hour after the meal before physical activities. There's also a preventive surgical procedure, called gastropexy, but it's not always necessary nor recommended, so the best thing is to check with your vet, and while you're at it ask for information about brachicephalic syndrome, its diagnosis and its prevention: it will make the difference in terms of lifespan. Never overfeed or overexercise a dog is always a golden rule, and it's even more important with molosses (mastiffs, bull-type dogs, boxers, great danes etc): despite their look, they can be really delicate. Also keep an eye for temperature, since overheating is really dangerous, and molosses tend to have a hard time with thermal regulation: during summer it will be better to take your girl outside only in the early morning and late evening, avoiding the hotter part of day. It's capital to keep her always cool (during walk, a bottle of cold water to drink is recommended, and also a towel, to dampen her head and paws when it gets too warm), and try to walk her on grass or on the shady side of the boardwalk: dogs sweat from their paws, so walking on hot concrete, other than being painful, can lead to a heat stroke. As for the wrinkles, size and proportions, usually mastiffs get to full physical maturity in a couple of years, sometimes a bit more, so probably it's a bit early to say anything, but keep in mind that, regardless their specific genetic line, in general molosses have more marked morphological differences of gender than other breeds, so usually females tend to be a little smaller and more slender (and with less developed wrinkles dewlap) than males. Ok, sorry I got carried away (I have a crossbreed Dogue de Bordeaux and a soft spot for mastiffs in general)... I hope it helps

First off they are Neapolitan not neo and they absolutely love water and have webbed feet try going in to the water with them they will do anything to please there masters they are extremely loyal dogs more trusting than family members I've lived with them for 30 years
My friend would be in Heaven. She has a Neo but says he's not one to make up with different people so much. An aggressive dog of this breed could ruin your day.😀. Cheers. Nice dogs btw.
back in the nineties i was working in nice and whilst out for a break, came across a man with two neo,s male and female, he was begging basically and i struck up a conversation with him . his male was 110 kg ,when i asked if i could stroke him the guy said yes as he hadnt been fed and he enjoyed forearm as the bones were easy to digest, one year later in reims i came across the same guy with the same dogs they were still in great health and he was still begging.

I once had a Mastino. Sadly, they rarely live longer, than 5 years. Mine died being 3. It is really better to have a Jack Russell; less tears, and after 15, not 5 years.
You talk about the history of the dog but then carefully explain, that through selective breeding, the dog today is not the same dog. Temperament is part of the breed.
I have a Neapolitan mastiff and his name is if you look at the photo you'll see him in my photo there are a lovely dogs and very big dogs and very powerful They're one of the best dogs I've ever had in my life I'm the first person to own a Neapolitan mastiff he is a lovely creature I could never do without him he's always around me he's under my feet he slobbers everywhere but I was one thing I will say there are one beautiful creatures I would never disregard the history of these dogs these dogs are absolutely amazing my dog will always be with me to the day I die I would never leave his side he always there when I'm down when I'm up when I'm happy it doesn't matter how bad I am he will be there no matter what I do or say but this dog loves you to b**** mad regardless how bad you are and feel this is these dogs will love you to the end of the earth and they will be text you to the end of the earth cuz my dog does lovely creatures
Strange, the history books show this dog to have looked very different to what you and your fellow breeders have recreated.. The original dog looked much more like the Cane Corso, much tighter and way more athletic is stance. Remember these dogs had to have stamina fighting lions and bulls and bears in the Roman rings. Shame really these dogs do not look like they could last more than 30 muni nets walking let alone running
Hi there, yes there have been many changes in many breeds. These were surprisingly athletic when we visited to film, I think they would manage a decent length walk with ease
Supposedly the neo and the cane corso derive from the same breed, where as the neo was bred more as a guard dog kept in homes. The cane corso was bred more as a fighting dog, hence why the cane corso is a more athletic build and the neo is a lot heavier with loose skin to protect the neck area, also the cane corso tends to be a more aggressive breed than the neo due to the fighting instinct in the breed

I belong to the giant dog rescue league of Florida. I have fostered many dogs over 125lbs . There was a 4 year old pure breed Neo at a kill shelter for 14 weeks that nobody could get near because he had been so abused, & mistreated, he trusted no one. Well, I took him on, took weeks to get him to stop biting me and at times I didn't think I was going to get him to straighten up, but he finely got to a point he knew this was a safe place to be, plus he got use to me feeding him, so he doesn't bit me anymore. When I got him, he was 109 pounds and was just skin & bones because he was on the streets for months with no proper food at all. After 4 weeks of me giving him 8 cups of dry kibble & raw chicken or beef he got up to 120 pounds and at 4 months of him here he was at 150 pounds, but looking a little too fat, so I cut his food back to 4 cups a day as I know the Neo's have hip & shoulder issues after 6 years old if you don't keep their weight down when there young. He was still to heavy at 150 as he was showing signs of hip displaceha already, so I cut him back to 3 cups a day as I would like to see him at 145 pounds max for his frame size. My long time big dog vet agreed. He now is fine with me, but with anybody he doesn't know, he still does not trust and can be flat out a big problem with strangers or other dogs as he is a big boy ! He is a good dog for the right family that can take on a dog with a hard passsed, not an easy thing to fine but he is up for adoption now. Our rescue have over 40 big dogs with no homes and all the Fosters are full up to. We need the right home for this great dog so I can save others.

This comment made me laugh. We have an English Mastiff female and totally know what your talking about. Vaccines for our Boston Terrier $30 for the Mastiff $100. Its all based on weight. Something I think people don’t consider when shopping for a dog. More drool, more hair, more poop and more money at the vet.

Lovely dogs, I love the neo and the French mastiff, my wife is a bit intimidated by their size so I have two old English Bulldogs they are like smaller version of the mastiff's. I can see your dogs are a lot healthier than a lot of the neo's I have seen keep up the great work

I'm actually an owner of a Neapolitan mastiff I had him since he was 9 to 10 weeks old he is now turned to years old and I've had him ever since these dogs are absolutely one of the best dogs I've ever owned I've never owned a new plant in massive until I've met my new dog Neapolitan mastiff it's a quite a good experience it opened up my eyes to what these animals were all about it's taking me needed 2 years to learn more about these dogs from my experience of owning a Neapolitan mastiff I must admit they are one of the best creatures that you could ever meet have owned or even be in present of one of these dogs these dogs are very powerful and not to mention very loving and caring dogs when I first got my dog my dog would piss on my bed if not it would pee on the floor it wouldn't bother me because it was just the way it was as you know when dogs go to a new home the nervous and things go wrong but at a time it helps me go through what I was going through at the time not to mention now moving on on 2 years now in it is now been so absolutely amazing seeing an animal this size of my yard of my own as you can see on the left side of your screen you'll see me with my Neapolitan mastiff his head is bigger than my head it makes me laugh but yes these dogs are absolutely a stunning pet to have and a very good guard dog at that if you come to my door my dog will go through the door to get to you if the postman comes to the post box and puts his lettuce letterbox but not to mention he is a lovely creature and I would never change the world for him I'll give him everything I've got because these dogs are absolutely amazing dogs it took me 8 months to learn before I got my new panty mastiff and now I will never look back❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I have yet to find a healthy Neo. Despite the fact that I only keep rescues, I see a lot of them in our veterinary practice. The types this breeder shows are much better than some extremes. Not overly wrinkled, acceptable amount of loose skin and wonderfully free gait. Many others, unfortunately, are overbred cripples with a very short life expectancy. A shame for this great dog breed....
If I were interested in a Neo that was not a rescue, I'd ask this breeder ! Never have seen better types.

So I've seen Neos that have a massive amount of wrinkles and some with little to moderate wrinkles around the face...do they have to have a massive amount of wrinkles or would I be able to find one that has less wrinkles?
Avoid those bred for show. They are bred with massive heads and wrinkles. A Neapolitan mastiff is not supposed to be overly wrinkly.

In the 70s-80s they were considered the baddest mastiff in the us. Tight skinned and little loose around the neck and it’s best known for a long muzzle for biting extremely hard. And able to have great stability and natural aggression

great video, and you have raised some beautiful Neo's! in reference to your comment about the gastric torsion, what are the signs, we recently purchased our first Neo, Ella, and we just adore her! she seams to be a healthy girl but i do notice she lacks some of the stronger characteristics of a Neo. she's not very wrinkled, and she looks a little taller than your pups. I did get to meet her Dad and Mom before we bought her, and they were massive! The breeder did mention that her parents originally came from Italy, would that make a difference? thanks in advance!
Unfortunately, gastric torsion and bloating are very sudden, and are common in basically all the large breed...
They can be avoided by splitting the daily portion of food in at least two smaller meals, and waiting at least one hour after the meal before physical activities. There's also a preventive surgical procedure, called gastropexy, but it's not always necessary nor recommended, so the best thing is to check with your vet, and while you're at it ask for information about brachicephalic syndrome, its diagnosis and its prevention: it will make the difference in terms of lifespan.
Never overfeed or overexercise a dog is always a golden rule, and it's even more important with molosses (mastiffs, bull-type dogs, boxers, great danes etc): despite their look, they can be really delicate.
Also keep an eye for temperature, since overheating is really dangerous, and molosses tend to have a hard time with thermal regulation: during summer it will be better to take your girl outside only in the early morning and late evening, avoiding the hotter part of day. It's capital to keep her always cool (during walk, a bottle of cold water to drink is recommended, and also a towel, to dampen her head and paws when it gets too warm), and try to walk her on grass or on the shady side of the boardwalk: dogs sweat from their paws, so walking on hot concrete, other than being painful, can lead to a heat stroke.
As for the wrinkles, size and proportions, usually mastiffs get to full physical maturity in a couple of years, sometimes a bit more, so probably it's a bit early to say anything, but keep in mind that, regardless their specific genetic line, in general molosses have more marked morphological differences of gender than other breeds, so usually females tend to be a little smaller and more slender (and with less developed wrinkles dewlap) than males.
Ok, sorry I got carried away (I have a crossbreed Dogue de Bordeaux and a soft spot for mastiffs in general)... I hope it helps

back in the nineties i was working in nice and whilst out for a break, came across a man with two neo,s male and female, he was begging basically and i struck up a conversation with him . his male was 110 kg ,when i asked if i could stroke him the guy said yes as he hadnt been fed and he enjoyed forearm as the bones were easy to digest, one year later in reims i came across the same guy with the same dogs they were still in great health and he was still begging.

I once had a Mastino. Sadly, they rarely live longer, than 5 years. Mine died being 3. It is really better to have a Jack Russell; less tears, and after 15, not 5 years.

Strange, the history books show this dog to have looked very different to what you and your fellow breeders have recreated.. The original dog looked much more like the Cane Corso, much tighter and way more athletic is stance. Remember these dogs had to have stamina fighting lions and bulls and bears in the Roman rings. Shame really these dogs do not look like they could last more than 30 muni nets walking let alone running

Supposedly the neo and the cane corso derive from the same breed, where as the neo was bred more as a guard dog kept in homes. The cane corso was bred more as a fighting dog, hence why the cane corso is a more athletic build and the neo is a lot heavier with loose skin to protect the neck area, also the cane corso tends to be a more aggressive breed than the neo due to the fighting instinct in the breed
