iPhone 16 Pro Max Main Camera Lens Test for Field of View for Selfie Vlogging to See if 24mm is OK This is a very specific test to see what the field of view FOV is like using the main 24mm camera lens, very specifically for selfie vlogging. For me personally, I still think the 24mm focal length of the main camera lens produces an FOV that is just a bit too narrow for the selfie vlog. While the iPhone 16 Pro Max still suffers the problems of the iPhone 15 pro max for skin tones and there doesn't seem to be any major noticeable difference between the two phones. I do have a lot of time for the main 24mm when left at 24mm. And you can definitely get a really nice picture when treating the phone as you would a "proper" camera, with things such as manual exposure, white balance, focus etc. With an appropriate app. What do you think? Alright, Kevin. Yes, the 24mm is a bit too tight for my taste. However, and as you said, the image quality is great. If I can find an app that is good in auto for my vlogging and can bypass the basic Apple colour profile for rec.709, I will use the 24mm and put up with the narrow FOV. I'll have to do another test, using it as a general video camera for shooting what's around me. I'm sure it will be perfect for that. Cheers, Dave.
Ha, that's mad 😆 There's actually a company that makes stuff for diving and scuba stuff, it was probably for that. Or it may well have been someone with a seriously bad taste in music 🤣 Cheers, Dave.
Hi Dave hope you're well. Agreed 24mm is a bit tight for the selfie vlog, but overall the 24 mm setup works OK. The stabilisation and audio were very good and would work for vlogging, maybe with a longer or adjustable in length selfie stick. Best wishes stay safe Jon
Alright, Jon. Yes, the 24mm is still a bit too tight for the selfie thing, unless you are a narcissist and it's aways about you and not what you are doing 😆 And yes, the stabilisation and audio are great as far as I'm concerned, especially for a phone. The Samsungs are a bit better for their internal mics but this iPhone is absolutely fine. Also for this example I was by a busy main road and you could still hear the dialogue fine. As for the picture. The 24mm is awesome in my opinion and is way better than what you should reasonably expect from a phone. Yes, it still has skin tones issues etc. But if I were to use that camera/lens, I'd use an app that allows you to select and lock white balance and I'd do the extra bit in post to get the colours I want. I think a selfie stick would defo do the trick for the FOV. However, I'm trying to keep the rigging down to just a pistol grip, just as I would with a GoPro. Hope all is well buddy 👍 Take care, Dave.

Hi Dave.
My first impression is that 24mm is maybe a little bit too tight for vlogging, but the image quality looks excellent.
Thanks.
