With the breakfast club, it's magic.
I consider probably once a week or so how our generation growing up in America in the 80s probably had the most pleasant childhood the world has ever known. Relative peace, technological breakthroughs left and right, the foundation of modern Western culture developing right before our eyes every day, a unified country that believed in itself....
It's more than nostalgia, it's the realization that we've lost something great before we even knew we had it. Might be many decades before the 80s and 90s are matched again if things don't change. Just remaking those movies and songs over and over ain't it, our culture is stagnant. We have to build new culture that recaptures that same good spirited positivity.
Our boys in The Midnight do just that. They're building new culture in the spirit of the times when we were at our best.

Ahh 80's movies. The perfect synthesis of movie practical effects, daring storylines, compelling characters and kickass music. This is by far my favorite Midnight song. I listen to it every night I drive to work! ❤

Yep seen everyone of those movies (and cartoons), most of them several times and some many many times, I still have many of the VHS tapes still, they really do take you back to when things were more joyful and magical in the innocence of youth, memories indeed, ones you can treasure. this is what synthwave is all about to me the esoteric feeling we all share and the memories nobody can say the 80s wasn't the pinnacle of pop culture because it truely was we had both quality and quantity a rare combo that was so infkuential but of course it couldnt last forever but it lives on in all of us and we do our best to bring it with us.
Though not synthwave, there is an 80s tribute video for "Waiting for a Star to Fall" put together by The Vintage Tribute which takes me down memory lane of my childhood as well.

This really hits the spot! Those clips must be special to you if you watched them multiple times as kid. I would give anything to go back to those sunday mornings when you could just watch tv and after that go outside and hang out with friends.
