Scooter Brake Fluid 101: A Beginner's Guide to Changing Motorcycle Brake Fluid

  • How to change, bleed, and fill brake fluid on a motorcycle or scooter is the same process and very quick and easy. All you need are a few basic tools, 3/16" vinyl tubing, and something to drain the fluid into. My Honda ADV 150 adventure bike requires (recommended) DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid as do most other motorcycles.
    In this video I demonstrate the process, and because my brake fluid level was level and clean, I did not have to bleed or fill it. I have low mileage on my Honda, but I wanted to show the procedure regardless because I've had people ask me about this.
    NOTE: The rear brake on this bike is a drum and does not require brake fluid because the process is different. You can Google how drum brakes work on motorbikes to learn more about that.
