If you're ever caught in a rip DONT try and paddle (or swim) directly against it. Paddle sideways (parallel to the shore) until you get clear of the rip, then you can head for shore

Went out on boogie boards on Lake Eerie once. Got sucked out in a storm with my friend. We both were being pulled out further and further as a storm hit. Luckily his sister on shore was there and seen what happen to us and got us help. I just remember looking back at land and she was the size of a ANT. But we battled for hours trying to survive. Took 3+ hours till someone came to rescue us. never again!

Why are there so many hate comments towards them. I mean yeah they really should have been more careful. But everyone makes mistakes nobody is perfect. They almost died I think it take a tremendous amount of courage to last as long as they did. And people can grow up in a environment they know like the back of their hands and still make mistakes. Last January i went hiking at a place ive been a million times and i slipped down a cliff and almost went into a raging river but i grabbed a tree on the way down and my boyfriend used his belt to make a loop for me to hold on the tree and pulled me up into the tree i hit on the way down. I could have died but thankfully i escaped with only a broken leg. Don't be so hard on people everyone makes mistakes

"My dad was real strict with the cell phones." I was thinking, good dad, he insists that his kids have their cell phones with them at all times in case of emergency! Uh, no, I guess that's only my idea of being strict with cell phones.
