I am just now reading a book of historical fiction about the early American settlers in the mountains of Tennessee in the 1700's. The men are equipped at all times when they go into the forest to hunt or to travel - a rifle, maybe a hand gun too, some kind of dried food - like jerky or parched corn, a canteen, a large knife in a sheath around their waist, a hand ax tucked into their sash. And, if they're on horse back, a lot of other stuff. So they're all set right there to survive in the wilderness at any time. With their knives and hand ax they can make some kind of shelter of tree limbs, boughs, bark. They also carried fire making tools. They can hunt for game. It's incredible to think how easily these modern day people were thrust into a situation like the frontiers people but without any of the tools for survival.

An absolute blessing in disguise for John and the young couple. If not for Gina and Brandon, John's body never would have been found and given the burial he deserved. And if not for John, those 2 would not have been found and would have faced the same fate. Nothing short of a miracle here.
It's hardly a miracle. The poor guy probably starved for days and days and/or finally succumbed to hypothermia after night after freezing night. That was to be one of the most prolonged and excruciating ways to go. That guy had no miracles, so what makes them so special?
Brandon you may have made some bad choices but bro the end you made up for all of it. My bro said "Imma light the whole place on fire... The whole Da** place💪🏽👏🏽👏🏽. RIP to Mr John🕊️ and prayers to his family
THE GOLDEN RULE IF GET LOST ANYHERE IN THE WORLD: DON'T ROAM AROUND UNLESS YOU ARE 200% SURE OF YOUR WAY.. STAY AS CLOSE AS THE ORIGINAL SITE SO THAT PEOPLE CAN LOOK YOU UP.. THIS COUPLE COULD JUST SHOUT OUT LOUD FOR THE PEOPLE AROUND THEM WHEN THEY GOT LOST.. SIMPLE DECISIONS CAN MAKE A CHANGE
After she said on the 3rd day that they spent that night sleeping 12-15' apart, doing their own thing, "something to this day" she doesn't understand, I knew their relationship wouldn't last. So, wasn't surprised the narrator at the end saying they stayed together for 2 more years following rescue... then separated. What was surprising was not hearing the usual follow up, "but to this day remain good friends." That was sad, considering all they had weathered, survived, together.
If all they ended up having in common was a shared crisis, that's not much to base a long term relationship on. The novelty of surviving a situation like that together wears off and they probably realized eventually they didn't have much else in common.
I came here for John's story. He was quite a character, eccentric and brave, a loner mostly with no close family, and i really feel sorry he met his fate in such a way. But who knows maybe in the end he didn’t regret a thing. But i also can't judge Brandon and Gina here, ive seen people calling them idiots and stuff (well ofc they're not of big minds) but still i feel sorry for them too cuz I've walked their shoes once. It takes one turn to get lost, and you dont know how you'd act in such a situation until you stuck in there. I got lost in the woods after looking for a pond, but at least after three hours of wandering i came to a highway familiar to me. and also blaming these two for making a fire?! 🙄
I've been up this tram before in the winter months. It was cold at the bottom with snow on top. Luckily the person I was with wasn't very adventurous lol. We opted to eat in the restaurant instead of walking off the trails. This is terrifying though. It's so high up & the only way down is the tram. Plus there's snakes, rattlers, mountain lions, tarantulas, big horn sheep, scorpions & I'm sure so much more up there!!
Why was that waterfall so important in the midst of terrain that has mountain lions and rattle snakes? Anyway the good thing is they made it out alive.
Its actually a good thing. She prob ran off with a chad when she had a nice stable guy who is a financial advisor. She said herself that she was more concerned about her hair, makeup and the way she looked being in the situation they were in and the guy is thinking with logic and reason. Typical female behaviour. He was better off without her. Shes now prob alone and living with a cat.
This was truly an amazing story. The fact that found John Donovan’s belongings, was amazing. I was as hoping that things worked out and they stayed together but I guess not.
The spirit of the veteran who passed on kept calling them. I mean they had so many options to get out of there or atleast get help before going further however it's like they went blank and were not thinking straight. ❤ They met for a purpose.
I've lived in PS for a long time and hiked those mountains plenty of times. There are roads going in and out unlike the beginning says plus... where is that waterfall supposedly 150ft? That wasn't even from these mountains.
He has no right or reason to apologize. You could’ve sent two people to their death by assuming they took whatever vehicle back. That’s like leaving somebody out in the middle of the ocean just because you figured oh they were here.
When people with no experience in the wild ,go into the mountains and say " we didn't have a care in the world " they're bound to end up in some kind of trouble. While you're at it make sure you leave your phone behind. I am from the country and I wouldn't dare venture into an unknown city alone and say I don't have a care in the world. That's begging for trouble
I would NOT recommend lighting a fire in a pine forest to anyone as a means to get rescued. Ok it might have got the attention they needed , but if the fire hadn't gone out and they already said they were totally stuck- they could have got caught in the wildfire and roasted alive. Besides the fact that arson is a serious crime.
Why would you attempt to set the forest ablaze when you could just keep a signal fire going? Not a lot of smart decisions, it's amazing that they survived at all.
Texas, I think it said they were from. They should have followed their own tracks back as soon as they weren't absolutely sure of where they were. Glad they made it out ok.
As a BSA leader for awhile .. having a whistle attached to my uniform shirt was common practice. Three blasts signal HELP. The sound goes a long ways. Obviously we all carried phones ... no telling when emergency services might be required... and for one leader who dropped from a heart attack while on an early AM walk ... it was needed. He survived ... the other leaders applied CPR until the ambulance crew got to them. ... If that spot on the mountain is so dangerous it would be nice to place some sort of stocked emergency shelter in there. [with emergency communications].
I hope they sued the tour guide company. To just leave them there and assume they found a different way home is complete negligence. There's a reason they were on a tour. They don't know the area.
Honestly, using the flash of the camera to check the cave was really clever. I'm not sure I would have immediately thought of that despite it being a mechanic in a few games I've played lol
Must have taken a taxi back? ... I wouldn't let those people in charge of me just walking to a corner store 😂😂... Imagine that was your kids school bus and she sees two kids not on the bus?... Shed say .. " okay must have been picked up by the parents" .😂
I think that Brandon (of Dallas) and Melissa Armstrong (of Toronto), from ISBA season 2 episode 6, would be a good couple. Who'll introduce them to each other?
What I’ve learnt from this episode that shocked me the most is if I am in a dire situation in America it’s not a crime to set a lite a national forest! Not what I would have expected at all
Man I’ll never forget I was cliff diving. Slipped. Fell at least 80 feet bashing off everything there was before falling another 60 feet into a lake that was fun
Lol, pathetic to think like that. Favoritism shouldn't be one of the qualities of a creator. There are people who die horrible deaths every single day but so nice of god to go out of his way to rescue this couple because who knows what marvelous plan it has for them... nothing.
Another reason for me to stay in Texas...ole boy didnt wanna give up on them and as hard as he swallowed at being found...you can tell he was dam proud but humbled at the same time at finding ol boys remains

The reason why this series no longer exists, is because we all wear phones all the time now
Did the tour guide really just assume they took a taxi back?!?! What the Actual F@!k
Exactly like taxi from where the woods?
On the bright side, at least they found the waterfall lol
"They must have got a taxi" exactly how would a taxi have picked them up without anyone knowing ???????
Humm
I think Mr. Ballen covered this story. 👍🏾
Yesssssss
yup, this was so much better than the Ballen version
@@sebastianwhalin743 I haven't watched him since the missing 411 whatever series it was david paulides stuff, I just can't take people seriously when they talk with their hands I'm weird 😂
@RS-xq6je Yeah I think thats when I stopped too. He really twists the stories up and leaves out info to make it seem more "strange and mysterious"
Excellent documentry reantacted professional brilliant acting sincerely thank you for going through the true events to give us at home a feeling of how to survive n educate us in situations like this
Wait wait wait..did that tour guide just say "they probably took a cab back"?
Really now! A f***ing cab 🤣
Great job with the casting. These actors look like legitimate younger versions of these people
When u stop hearing people. stay put until u hear people again in the morning...never leave the trail unless u KNOW how to get back!!!
How walking further down a mountain can get you out if you started from a higher point? Glad they made it out.
THE GOLDEN RULE IF GET LOST ANYHERE IN THE WORLD:
DON'T ROAM AROUND UNLESS YOU ARE 200% SURE OF YOUR WAY.. STAY AS CLOSE AS THE ORIGINAL SITE SO THAT PEOPLE CAN LOOK YOU UP..
THIS COUPLE COULD JUST SHOUT OUT LOUD FOR THE PEOPLE AROUND THEM WHEN THEY GOT LOST..
SIMPLE DECISIONS CAN MAKE A CHANGE
Must have taken a taxi back???!! What the hell lady… she must be glad they didn’t die.
They could use the battery from thier camera to start a fire 🔥...very sad they saperated after all
How?
Why was that waterfall so important in the midst of terrain that has mountain lions and rattle snakes? Anyway the good thing is they made it out alive.
Why not just yell when y’all heard the other tour people 🤷🏾♂️
yeah that's what I was thinking. THe guy probably didn't wanna look "like a b1tch"
I am always amazed at how well these incidents are re-created for TV. That fire is really something....
I feel so sad they ended up separating:(
Its actually a good thing.
God bless these two they did literally everything wrong thank God they survived
I've lived in PS for a long time and hiked those mountains plenty of times. There are roads going in and out unlike the beginning says plus... where is that waterfall supposedly 150ft? That wasn't even from these mountains.
Must have went off trail for another reason bust a shit/nut and made up the waterfall excuse
This episode should be called,, "Lovers in a dangerous climb"
I’ve watched a hundred of these but this one was incredible.
So happy they are alive ✝️
I would NOT recommend lighting a fire in a pine forest to anyone as a means to get rescued. Ok it might have got the attention they needed , but if the fire hadn't gone out and they already said they were totally stuck- they could have got caught in the wildfire and roasted alive. Besides the fact that arson is a serious crime.
Why would you attempt to set the forest ablaze when you could just keep a signal fire going? Not a lot of smart decisions, it's amazing that they survived at all.
But even they're separated, they will never forget the time they spent together in in wild jungle days...
I couldn't find my rental car once, and it was a lot like this scenario.
Better than any movie this year.
The tour company should be held responsible. You dont just assume they took a taxi
Texas, I think it said they were from. They should have followed their own tracks back as soon as they weren't absolutely sure of where they were. Glad they made it out ok.
Y do the planes always missed then the first time in all of these?
Spotting people that high up in such a vast wilderness is way easier said that done. Needle in a haystack
Tour guide was 100% negligent. I’d have sued her and the company.
Every episode ther is a helikopter that doesnt see the missing persons😢
I'm writing a story where the characters hear a waterfall, and follow the sound to find unexpected trouble too! LOL
10:35 what is the point of the count if she's just going to ignore the fact two people are missing? LOL sad.
I hope they sued the tour guide company. To just leave them there and assume they found a different way home is complete negligence. There's a reason they were on a tour. They don't know the area.
Rip john you died a hero❤
My GOSH.. What a story 😮
Honestly, using the flash of the camera to check the cave was really clever. I'm not sure I would have immediately thought of that despite it being a mechanic in a few games I've played lol
Can’t find the trail in the daytime, but can find a cave they seen on the way down the trail in the dark.
My prayers to jhon his belonging saving two lives the real hero r.i.p
Must have taken a taxi back? ... I wouldn't let those people in charge of me just walking to a corner store 😂😂... Imagine that was your kids school bus and she sees two kids not on the bus?... Shed say .. " okay must have been picked up by the parents" .😂
I think that Brandon (of Dallas) and Melissa Armstrong (of Toronto), from ISBA season 2 episode 6, would be a good couple. Who'll introduce them to each other?
What's the point of the shuttle taking roll when they just brush off people missing?
What I’ve learnt from this episode that shocked me the most is if I am in a dire situation in America it’s not a crime to set a lite a national forest! Not what I would have expected at all
When water 💧 🙄 😒 calls you! Don't go!😂
"Go up 8500+ feet into the mountains that still have some snow".... AND someone had to TELL YOU it might be a good idea to bring a sweatshirt 😅
And no acclimating to the higher elevation?
Americans...
So glad I'm English, most of us have in built common sense.
Man I’ll never forget I was cliff diving. Slipped. Fell at least 80 feet bashing off everything there was before falling another 60 feet into a lake that was fun
God did answer Gina's prayer.
Amen 🙏 ❤
What about all the people that pray and still die? Like innocent children dying of starvation and cancer? What a horribly ignorant thing to say.
Lol, pathetic to think like that. Favoritism shouldn't be one of the qualities of a creator. There are people who die horrible deaths every single day but so nice of god to go out of his way to rescue this couple because who knows what marvelous plan it has for them... nothing.
Your prayer has been heard lady!!!
What about all the people that pray and still die? Like innocent children dying of starvation and cancer? What a horribly ignorant thing to say.
Another reason for me to stay in Texas...ole boy didnt wanna give up on them and as hard as he swallowed at being found...you can tell he was dam proud but humbled at the same time at finding ol boys remains
