The middle section is the top of Cut Rock, also known as the Ox trail. I have an FZJ80 with a 50mm lift 33"s and a rear locker it walks up Five ways and Cut Rock, low & slow is the go. Also the gates at either end of Lemon Tree are there to stop trucks driving that mud, I know the gates are not always locked, but if you saw the gates wouldn't you think they're there for a reason.
Full lockers would've been on my list WAY before a lift, tire size upgrade, or power plant swap! FJ's can do great at nearly stock (though, a snorkel is real handy!), but you gotta build it to deal with the terrain. For this, I might've even considered a gear reduction and/or turbo-diesel (no, nothing against a beefed 6, nor V-8, other than low RPM torque). Still, nice rig, and while not driven 'expertly', it is being driven within it's limits, and those limits are being pushed upon. You can be happy with it 'as is', but Diff Lockers,on-board air, and maybe frame stiffening would be on the "to do" list.
It's a shame the driver steers like he is retarded. Nearly rolled it in the first minute and bounced the front wheels into the air, spun them, and belted them down nearly busting an axle.
You're welcome. I had one of those before i moved to brazil, it was the petrol version, a fzj80 ... 3" OME lift and 33", wonderful rig ... now i have a Troller T4 , you can take a look at it in my channel. Also cool WK you have, im impressed with the traction aids it has.
i have bought all my bolt on's for my cruiser from the states and saved a shit load! Want to support Australia business but won't let them charge me what ever they want for something i can buy O.S. for 1/3 the price. (best to deal with 1 supplier to get freight discount). Still works out much much cheaper.
+Aussie Four Wheelers (Hemi4WD) YEEAAH this is the PlayGround for the BALLS. Those others who don't have BALLS go play with The Skirts because i am purely a SEXY SKIRTS. :D :D
This cruiser driver is really good with his lines. Good car too. Gonna throw out a question...do I want front locker or rear locker first? (guessing front but aint sure) 2012 d22 navara(has lsd on rear).
Lockers would save your CV's etc from the pounding your giving them but impressive mate. Must admit I never leave my tow hitch in off road, or the tracks we do would have the rear wheels off the deck half of the day :-)
Nice rig mate, I have the exact same one but not as much in the lift. Did you do anything to make the petrol motor water proof/ish? Any info would be sweet.
+Aussie Four Wheelers (Hemi4WD) or using to much momentum and slamming boulders in to the differential, rockers, over torqing the drive shafts drive shaft and so on.If the slop has this angle, no rocks for the treadblocks to grip on, then yes, Using Force or F=M*A will get a vehicle like this to the top of the hill.
L K I don't think that force equation works in this situation. If he was slamming into a brick wall then yeah but this is all momentum and conservation of energy...and also not science. 4x4ing is art, everyone does it differently and some pwople just aren't tht good at it. Not saying anyone in particular, you all know one.
Fuck while I'm at it mud tyres are literally designed to be self cleaning so that when they spin the dirt and rocks are ejected and when the tread comes back around it can bite in more. Lifting a wheel or two is always going to happen on super rough terrain, not enough flex in the world to stop it.
Is it just the standard 4.5L petrol under the bonnet or have you had work done to it. It just seems to be going a lot harder then most 4.5L petrols I see getting around and 4wding.
Nothing like ripping the guts out of machine and environment to massage your ego, this is a lesson for all 4x4 owners on how not to behave if you don't want all our forest tracks locked up to us all.
BAHAAAHAHA, okaaaay. So you can tiptoe around obstacles then, and we'll still try rutting out the rocks with our rubber. Maybe we should install chisels into the treads for more effective outcomes.
Hey JBL (Jeff Bridges Lookalike, i am jus gonna call u that till u give us ur name..lol) loved this one!!. which one do you rate higher.. the 80 or the 105 series?
Had the front locker in for a while now since then. Rear locker is on the to-do list. Yes, this is where ARB comes from and their products are dearer here than in the US. Go figure!
Aussie Four Wheelers (Hemi4WD) That's because we as Australians get ripped off on everything we buy here, that is why I will no longer buy anything from Australia they can go fuck em selves, not happy making 100% profit more like 300% profit nothing but scumbag assholes.
***** I don't mean to offend, but you're being pretty repulsive with your comments. As if the lockers would keep the tracks open?? Like you know what the real cause of track closures is. Track erosion mainly happens from weather and people digging them up when muddy!! If we want to keep tracks open, we should not litter the outdoors, not cut down trees or destroy the vegetation etc. So many places have so much rubbish in them, including glass bottles, dumped building material (and some with fibro), burnt stolen cars... No wonder that some of the tracks are going to get closed, because it's costly for someone else (i.e. council) to go and remove it all.
+Aussie Four Wheelers (Hemi4WD) I think he's trying to say lockers (and proper gearing) results in less throttle use when off road, which in turn has reduced impact on the terrain.
I don't see the point of lift kits when most the time it doesn't lift the most important part of the car higher.. The dif. I mean raise it a couple inches but not a lot, it you know... Looks funny when the diff is on the ground and the body is a foot higher
Glad you asked about the pipe, found it in the bush and thought it will come in handy or maybe make some protection bars. You never know when you might need some pipe. It's always handy to have.

Mate you gotta get lockers. You won't have to drive so hard. I cringed when you went sideways. Too nice a truck to break. You'd be amazed what just a rear locker will do. Great truck Thanks for Da vid
these 80s are a beast of a truck, I had one in 1990 when they first came out and then a 1997 the last of the 80 series, brilliant truck
There's a fine line between balsy and stupidity....I think he's on that border...
Agree. As SLOW as possible, as FAST as necessary...
It's a 4" lift with 35" tyres.
Thanks for the compliments mate, appreciate it.

This video gotta be named "80-Series Land Cruiser with Steel Balls" :)
ALL Toyota Land Cruisers have Balls, rock SOLID trucks.. BETTER than crap range rovers.
Floors it on rock ledges and idles through mud trenches..... Hmmmm
just bought one after flogging off the Defender. The fun begins
Enjoy 😉
Half the reason is better than all the reason 8-)
A nice 1VD-FTV would finish this rig off perfectly.
Top video, looking into an 80 series myself.
Thanks for watching 👍 Glad you liked it
This video exactly demonstrates how powerful this beast is. anyway i was wondering, can the diesel one perform exactly like this?
Raymond David the turbo diesel will do even better bud
awsome video awsome tracks! and truck!
Close call! Nice looking truck, pity Toyota doesn't give lockers as standard
Very nice LC80, do you know what lift is on it? ... by the way, you've got some very nice videos "mate" ... cheers from Brazil !
If you don't like them, save yourself the stress of watching 4wding videos and take up cross stitch.

Dobinson suspension with 2 inch coil spacers changed the front panhard

almost lost it.. lockers as every one has just said , but with lockers, u can really slow every thing right down. Play it safe..

A real professional goes slow never leaves the tires from the ground and never spins the tires.
So professionals need no momentum, oh yeah, that's when you're wheeling virtually flat ground. Thank you for your input.

I see a lot about lockers but I’m wondering.. is his tire pressure too high? it seems like he’s on pavement pressure which pops him up higher
What is the pavement pressure and what's good pressure for offroading without popping beads in your opinion?
