    - Jeep Wrangler Sport JK
    - Nissan Patrol GU
    - Toyota Land Cruiser 80-series
    In this video, the Toyota took out the No 1 title again :)
    This was a technical track due to plenty of rocks around and narrow passage. The Jeep took it easy with a few scrapes underneath here and there but managed to crawl over it without any real issues. The Nissan struggled over a few of the rocks because of no lockers and it got high centered a couple of times where a tug was necessary to get it over.
    The Toyota had a couple of hiccups at the start trying to find that right line but managed to crawl over the second, harder part like a breeze.

      Walter Meoño the 2017 LC is nothing like the 80 series they are using in this video. Also the grand Cherokee isn't even on the same level as these vehicles, it is technically a crossover. All the vehicles in this video are body on frame.

      Aussie Four Wheelers (Hemi4WD) 20/20 sight mate.
      I genuinely like the way the 80 was crawling, that wasn't a backhand compliment.
      As for the winch comment, i think people fall back to the winch far too often when they absolutely do not need to.
      Typo in the original comment, i meant to say that it was good to see the track been done without someone pulling out the winch for every obstacle that looked like it would need low range.

    • @AussieFourWheelers
      @AussieFourWheelers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, thanks for the clarification mate. 80-series was already taken as a compliment but didn't quite understand the winch bit, so thanks for clarifying and please accept apologies. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, much appreciated.

    I grew-up with an FJ40 in Papua New Guinea, as an adult I've had the 80, 100 and now 200. Tests like this do not consider reliability, which is important - making the Toyota an obvious pick. They're all capable off road but I don't think ANYBODY in the world has EVER argued quality in craftsmanship or longevity of a JEEP - you'll never find one where you NEED a 4WD; they're always on these playgrounds, trying to play with the complete, all-around quality 4x4's, Where I grew-up in PNG, and elsewhere, where being off-road is necessary, not just for fun, Jeep is NEVER a consideration.

    • @AussieFourWheelers
      @AussieFourWheelers  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're saying it like you never owned a Jeep ;)

    • @leanright6870
      @leanright6870 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aussie Four Wheelers (Hemi4WD) never owned one and never saw one until I got back to the USA, where they're plentiful, so long as you can get to a service station (I thought Jeep reliability issues were well known - I have a friend that paid $55,000 +/- FOR A JEEP... some kind of Hemi deluxe edition; they're American Union people, who would never buy a Toyota. They asked me to sue Jeep under "lemon law" bc they've had a plethora of nasty issues including the leather dash peeling up, major engine , broken axel (they don't even go off-road) and so much more - dealer wouldn't cover under warranty. Sold very cheap - bought an Expedition (bc they'll only do American). A priority to me, in off road, is reliability, not just 4x4 capability. I'd love to buy American, but I don't think we build quality yet (in cars).

    • @leanright6870
      @leanright6870 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aussie Four Wheelers (Hemi4WD) All my Aussie friends in PNG swore by the LC, but things have changed down-under apparently (please don't follow this change with a reversion back to Rugby from Aussie-rules, the best game in the world). I hope Jeeps are much cheaper - in PNG, there was no such thing as a Jeep ... only Rovers and Cruisers, and we loved them both, especially the FJ40. My perception is that reliability of the Jeep is akin to the Rover, but I'd love to be wrong bc,ultimately, the US Auto industry needs a revival (I'm just not going to be on the first generation to risk it with American UAW cr@p). Our nation sacrificed auto quality in favor of union wages and a bloated auto industry that was ultimately shocked by Japan, who is in turn presently being shocked by the S. Koreans, taking the industry by storm again ... although still no decent 4x4 from them.

    You need to drop the diff out of the patrol and shim up the LSD, makes them a bit silly (fun) on the road in the wet, but will lock more effectively in the bush.

    • @AussieFourWheelers
      @AussieFourWheelers  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not an LSD diff, it's a Ti spec so rear locker model.

      In your opinion if the rear diff lock was functioning would the patrol have been just as effective as the land cruiser? Or is the front locker quite a big advantage? Love the vids!

      +GOAT McGregor IMO, from what I've experienced, front diff lock is more effective than rear.

    I think that the Nissan could use a bit of lift! But that looked like a helluva lot of fun!

    • @AussieFourWheelers
      @AussieFourWheelers  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. The Nissan had only 2 inches of lift and open diffs (broken rear locker). But it surely was plenty of fun. Thanks for watching ;)

  • @jordub
    @jordub 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm new to 4wheeling. Was the Nissan struggling more than the 80 and the Jeep purely because of the line he chose?

    • @AussieFourWheelers
      @AussieFourWheelers  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not because of the line but because it had no lockers and being a long wheelbase, 2 inches of lift is insufficient on this track.

    • @jordub
      @jordub 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok, that makes sense, is this why his tires keep spinning on the rocks with no traction?

      @AussieFourWheelers  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      acteuro03 Who said it's not locked?! It's got front and rear lockers and crawled over obstacles. It doesn't mean that when it tries to tackle an obstacle without the lockers to see how it goes, that it doesn't have them. Pay attention to the wheels, especially at that big rock around the 8:00 min mark.

    • @acteuro03
      @acteuro03 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the reason why I prefer to listen to the experts every time they test 4x4 vehicles, just as the following: cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/rankings/off-road-suvs and; www.fourwheeler.com/vehicle-reviews/1701-2017-jeep-grand-cherokee-trailhawk-wins-four-wheeler-suv-of-the-year/. The best way to hate the US is hating the Jeeps they started to make from 1941. Cheers from Costa Rica.
