My New 2023 Model Y LR is fine for me and meets all my features/requirements and have no issues at this time. I did allot of research and watched allot of You Tube videos before making my decision. You either like Electric cars or you don't. I like them.
I have good home charging.
My Model Y drives great for me (Single Pedal Driving). Yes, it is different than a gas car.
Build quality and interior are good on my vehicle. Wasn't expecting a Rolls Royce vehicle.
I am keeping the model Y for a long time so not worried about resale value (This may be my last bought vehicle because I am 74 years old).
I like Tesla or I wouldn't have bought my model Y.
I will see if I have any problems with Service centers in the future.
Winter weather, I knew there would be reduced range. I don't daily drive that far so Range is a mood point for me. I have AWD so that should do well in the winter time.
I agree with what you're saying. But I don't think it's black and white in terms of liking EVs or not. There can be a middle road for liking EVs. And I'm not saying to expect Rolls Royce quality or any sort of quality expectations for that matter. In this video, I just pointed out the issues Tesla has had in the past when compared to other cars in their class at similar price points.
"You either like Electric cars or you don't"
But not all electric cars are the same.
Tesla is known to have paint issues, and fit-and-finish issues.
Tesla is known to have a problem with 'Phantom Braking'.
Tesla Full Self Driving is still not working, after years of promises.
Tesla has removed essential sensors from the car, causing Summon
and Smart Summon functions to *no* *longer* *work* .
Hyundai or Kia EV's are much better in all these respects.
The tenth biggest reason is the depreication is faster than any others especially comparing to ICE, due to constant price droping of 1st generation EV by nature of auotmation and lower material cost.
I appreciate your valuable insight.
It boasts a draw dropping range of wayyyy less then the 330 miles it states.
Matt, this was an excellent breakdown on the other side of Tesla vehicles. All these people disliking it or hating this video have not done their own research. It's important to see both sides for everything
Couldn't agree more. The Tesla haters didn't come screaming in the comments when I made those countless videos where I explained why the Model Y is an excellent car 😂😂
Four of his points shouldn’t even be included. They’re subjective and irrelevant
"some like it and some don't" is basically every car ever made. @@GradietPanda12345
@GradietPanda12345 not only that but it's for all EVs not even model Y
Everyone’s experience is different. But it’s nice to know what others experience. 👍🏼
Great video
thanks for making this, im looking for a used Y
Good - fair - video.
Dang, i think you just convinced me to get something else. You mentioned alotta deal breakers breakers i hadnt considered.
good job informative
Thanks. Still buying one though
How you like?!
I recently rented a Model Y from Hertz in Arizona (my 1st Tesla experience) and I loved it! It was a dual motor long range and I would not hesitate buying one. There are currently no Superchargers in my home province but there is a charging network from ChargePoint, plus I can charge in my garage. I may wait until the Highland Model 3 is available in Canada but I am getting close to making that call. As for the look of the Model Y, I prefer it over the Hyundai Ionic 5 or 6 which will not age well, in my opinion.
The only thing holding me back from buying one is the instrument cluster/ dashboard. I literally thought this would be fixed within the first 5 years at maximum, it blows my mind that it's not yet designed in a sweeping manner across the entire Dash
its only been out for less then 4 years though
The whole concept is minimalist. So a sweeping dash would go against that concept. Want a sweeping dash, go for Lucid, Caddy or some others.
@@kecward78 nah thats the excuse. What it really is is cheap
@@kecward78 The design is not minimalist, it is to *save* *money* .
A complete, beautiful ergonomic dashboard with switches and buttons and dials costs money. An iPad screen bolted to an empty dash can be easily modified in software. It's the cheap solution.
You don't need one.
Nicely done video. I kinda wonder about ground and ambient heat. In discussion with someone in Az the hot weather and ground absorption was raised as a reason to not buy a EV or Tesla. But I did not hear that in your video and only that cold weather can be a concern.
Yep a few of those reasons are complete deal-breakers for me but nice review.
I've been leasing a model Y for 3 years now. Overall, I love my car. Tesla makes house calls, which I love, but when you have to go to the dealership, they have a lot to improve on. It's still a young company and I am optimistic that they'll keep getting better. Insurance is high, but it's high with all eletric vehicles. Tesla has started offering its own insurance. Not sure how that compares.
Do you prefer the driving feel of an electric car or a gas car?
I have to be able to drive one to tell if 5e Model Y is good or not.
Could you kindly elaborate on #3? I failed to understand how “not having home charging is specific to Tesla or Model Y”. Moreover, I am sure you know Tesla vast supercharger network would allow for anyone without home charging to have more options to charge than any other OEM.
I think he’s just saying if you don’t end up getting home charging or can’t ever get home charging for your Tesla then it’s not worth it. I was sorta confused too. I thought he was saying that the model Y cannot be charged from home at first which is not true.
Many people in the know have said there are 3 reasons NOT to buy a Tesla:
1. If you cannot charge at home at 240 volts
2. If you often take road trips
3. If you live in an area with extreme heat or cold weather
Superchargers are for trips only...it gets expensive going to them and you may need to wait especially with Elon opening them up to other EVS. Many apartment buildings, town homes, condos and business are putting in charging systems. I was in a new Senior housing complex that had a dozen chargers. You don't want to rely on the Supercharger network.
I also strongly recommend buying a long range Tesla. I have model S with a range of 405 miles and it helps not having to charge at Super Chargers. Wish the Model Y had a longer range.
@@donjorgensen1910 In the San Francisco Bay Area, which is where Silicon Valley is, most apartment complexes and town houses do not have charging for electric vehicles.
I got my Performance in May and love it. But if you’re looking to get one and can wait, then it may be worth it. I anticipate with the release of the refreshed Model 3 overseas and the absence of the Performance that something else is around the corner. And you know that same refresh is coming to the Y. All of those upgrades are reason enough to wait. But if you want the performance then I think there may be Plaid versions in both the refreshed 3 and Y for the US. Because the competition is outpacing Tesla in these segments. Volvo’s newest and smallest EV, the EX30, is 0-60 in 3.4, which is faster than the Y Performance and cheaper. Yes it’s not apples to apples, but numbers matter to most. Wait and it’ll be worth it.
Also make sure you like the seats. I've taken my mom out on a demo drive and she found the seat squeezing her from the sides and putting pressure on her back. No such issues with Lexus or Mercedes so make your own conclusions.
Huge respect for clear articulating why Tesla cars are not for everyone. Brilliant! P. S. Have MY and M3 in family. Love both. And annoyed by some features/issues from both as well :D
Thanks for the referral link, will save me 500 on my new new Tesla 3 in the next week. Enough to cover my wall charger 👍

You forgot to mention the worst of all: it's always ON even when you're nowhere near it. I lost 20 miles of range just parked in my driveway over the weekend in Oct this year.
Should make sure to shut off all systems that operate in the background, i.e. the sentry system.
Way too many issues with TESLA to warrant spending so much money and having to worry about Servicing should an issue arise.
🤪🤪😜😜😝😝
I regret it as well I bought one long range too much sequeak noise from the back every time and too much road noise
Ask for it to be repaired. I bought my Model Y three weeks ago and have no such issues.
Ask the Dealership to Fix it. They will do it. Keep chasing them until its fixed.
It was fixed but now the drivers door you can feel
Wind 💨 coming in while driving a higher speed. I took it to Tesla to get it fixed they said that’s normal .
Also for the wiper blades are $75 wow
They cut the prices to make their cars eligible for the federal tax credit 🤥
I’m buying a Toyota Prius
we just took a test drive in a Y. today. first ev drive , seemed very nice. thanks for the pro tips. ~ JDS/CT
good video. you don't mention the horrible ride quality of the 2022 and earlier models. I wanted to like the model Y but cannot stand the ride quality.
The suspension on the Model Y & Model 3 is horrible. Even the newer models too.
Thanks for some honest comments, i for one hate the lack of physical temp controls. The bleak interior is a turn-off. Love the security package, love the good but, sliding charger availability.
New 24' Y & 3 should be A+!!
should we wait for the new juniper?
Definitely.
naw, the current Y build is very good… by the time Juniper comes out, the tax credit may be history
I love my Tesla, you haven’t mention insurance cost. Insurance is higher than normal cars. And Tesla don’t have CarPlay
Is there Bluetooth?
i personally love the simplicity of the interior of the model y
I love the beautiful erogonomic and refined dashboard in a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. A joy to use.
@@DerekDavis213 i had a accord once. Nice car!!!
This is an insanely well done video. 10/10.
Thank you
I really like my Model Y, but I would really like to have an AM/FM radio and Android Auto.
I love the minimalist interior! Its sooo easy to clean!!
I just got a new Tesla Y and I really don’t like it. UGH. The ride is rough, you have to use the app to get into so many things. Just seems complicated unnecessarily. Not loving the car. 😢
Wanna trade for my bmw?
Did you get the 19" or 20" wheels?
@@JoelKleppinger I have the 19 inch wheels. This morning I got in the car with my phone. The car would not start. I had to go and get a key card. Frustrating I find all the controls frustrating.
19@@JoelKleppinger
@@beverlyh.3630ALWAYS carry the key card, ALWAYS!
Speaking of cost, you are forgetting the most important asterisk. The only manufacturer in America that sells directly to buyer. How much do you think franchised dealerships bleed Americans? Build them a wiener made of diamonds and eventually they will complain it’s too hard.
I can’t talk on behalf of owning my model y for more than 1 year, but thus far with 7 months and 7,200 miles, I love it. Service could be expensive but if I were to do wheel alignment and rotate tires, I’d just take it to my local shop.
If my warrantee expires, I’ll be certain to purchase an extended warrantee depending how much I still like it down the road. The range isn’t as what’s promised esp winter time, but it was expected as my expectations for the range lowered.
#3 - no access to home charging - Why does that matter? A simple 120 Volt amp(something every house has) will give you 40-50 miles of range just by charging overnight - More than enough to get to work and back.
That’s true, but as an apartment renter it is a big inconvenience to not be in proximity to a power outlet. The exterior walls near my carport do not have outlets and it would simply be infeasible to run an extension cord from my unit to the parking lot.
That being said, I’m lucky to have a number of superchargers in my area so I wouldn’t mind making the trip over once a week to charge up, but I can see how not being able to home charge could be a dealbreaker for some people - particularly renters like me.
Or go retro and use horses
I like that lol
Bought Model 3 dual motor, excellent tech, and $10k cheaper than Model Y, most importantly, way faster than Y.
I constantly hear that Teslas are pricey, innovative and game changing. But I also hear the build quality is pretty bad. So my question is, why does such a marvel of technology and innovation come with so many defective and shoddy examples? Do Tesla gigafactories have no quality control or final inspections that would usually catch such glaring examples and correct them before delivery? The fact that they let so many subpar examples get to owners before anyone notices the paint defects, panel gaps, and loose, squeaky interior paneling is concerning and unacceptable in a car in that price range, innovative or not.
Tesla model Y is one of the best car for myself and family :) 😊
Thanks for confirming not to buy a Tesla
Thank you so much!!
I love model Y
@@allenlawphachan7539 you can use mine
@@allenlawphachan7539 I did make a post on it
Yes, you are right good car good handling, easy to drive change lane for girl
The only correct thing on this video is that currently best to have a home point to charge - the rest is not 100% or dwelling on past instances - we don’t have a tesla, but both our cars have a little misalignment all cars do! People need to see for themselves, do your research and go see for yourself.. couldn’t even watch it till the end, plus the title is ‘baitie’
Do you own a Model Y? If so, for how long ago?
2 Model Y’s. A Long Range and a Performance since 2021. The footage of the Model Y’s in my videos are mine
Talking for BYD😂
My model Y has 8K miles and my windshield has cracked, wheel had to be replaced (ran over an industrial blade), and climate system fault. I’m so sick of my damn car.
Wait until the warranty expires
@@MattDanadel oh god.. I don’t even know how long the warranty is. I am ready to get rid of it for sure
I’m trying to get rid of mines as we speak. This car is costing me more money than it’s worth!
@@qsperney36 seriously! It’s great I don’t have to go to gas stations as much anymore, but supercharger locations that are packed is worse by far. Almost every time there’s an update my car craps out.
Yikes in regards to the build quality. Your Teslas look nice. The ones in the quality control videos look troubling. Those price reductions are interesting, and I really think depreciation and issues with batteries can push people away. I don't like Elon at all. I am grateful that Toyota is better overall. I think the Prius Prime is better than Tesla.
That 184 mile range estimate is insane! 😮 My Prius does 450+ on a tank that costs me about $27.
I don’t think you should base your purchases on if you like the CEO or not. Doesn’t make sense. You should look into the founders/previous CEOs of many of the legacy auto manufacturers. You’d be surprised who they were and what they supported. Also your comparison to your Prius is apples to oranges lol. Comparing a hybrid to an EV. Also the Model Y is a crossover EV. Probably compare the Model 3 to a Prius.
@@MattDanadel You can support whoever you want with your money. I like Toyota. There's no reason that a 28k Toyota would be better built than Teslas that cost 200%+ and more. That speaks to Elon's greed. You can buy the hype if you want.
Right, I’m not disagreeing that Toyota is worse. In fact, the build quality on a Toyota is miles ahead of Tesla. I was just addressing the CEO part of your comment and the comparison you made. My Camry has better build quality and better materials than my Model Y lol.
Just get a Cyber Truck. I like mine better than the Model Y.
I agree. 😂mercedes is the way to go.
The subreddit “realTesla” made me feel so terrible and have such buyer guilt about buying a new Tesla a few weeks ago. It seems Reddit is really black and white. It’s all love or all hate on the subreddits.
It's an underrated subreddit tbh. No BS, straight to the point, and no sugar coating.
Me do my own research. Then why make such a video.
No loaner vehicle? That's disgusting. Won't buy Tesla.
9 reasons not to buy, but he owns 2 of them. 😊

Horrible cars, its amazing people actually buy them.
I’m buying a Tesla because of Elon.
i guess elon marketing is working,
all he had to say was f worrd
Same
I say, Don't buy EVs at all.
Why?
You should keep your horse.
Teslas are amazing dude
Tesla is bullshit , horrible for maintenance, horrible for handling. it's extremely boring car@@walterwhite1
I also prefer wearing bushes instead of pants, and rocks instead of hammers.
That “RESLAE” value at 5:42 should reason 11 Lmfao 😂
