Thanks man. Great video easy to follow. Worked like a champ. $27 for techstream $35 for sensor and $22 to have sensor replaced on tire. Less than $100. Awesome. Look forward to another techstream video.
funman1steve thanks for quick reply! I can't get my Autel TS501 TPMS tool to read the sensors that haven't yet been installed... hoping they wake up when they sense some motion or air pressure. Got the techstream up and running thanks to your video! Saved me $100's. Plugging in the techstream resets traction control on my 4Runner and trips those lights on the dash. TH-camrs can search for the paper clip trick that resets the "zero point calibration." It really does work.
Ensure you are using OEM sensors IE:Denso If the pressure is 0 it may sleep? I don't know because I have never scanned it. I've only ever known the ID's before programming in Techstream
Thanks for the video. My TIS said I had 2 fault sensors. But each are reading well and temps are good. I even deflated each tire to check if the pressures drop. All is good. I just cleared the TPMS codes for now since the sensors seem fine.
Great Video. I spent most of the day at discount tire, my new sensors (4) were functioning, but my Lexus wouldn't recognize them, and they couldn't make them work. Went to the Lexus dealer, and the snobby service tech said only they could do it ($140). With further questioning, he said they use a 'high tech system' called techstream, which I knew about and then found your video. I bought a unit on Amazon for $22; you need an XP laptop to run it. Since my sensors were already installed at discount, I called and asked if their scanner could give me the ID#'s; he said it could. My car will give a read out (pressure) of individual tires, so I'm wondering about the comment about rotating tires. I might need to reprogram with techstream each time I rotate...
Unless your vehicle shows you where the sensors are on the vehicle then you should not need to to do anything when rotating wheels. My 07 lexus ls460 shows the 5 tires pressures but not where they are located on the vehicle so when it says I have a low tire I have to check every tire to figure out the culprit. But I have rotated many times without an issue with the sensors reading.
Nope because they are ALL DIFFERENT. You will need to get instructions from your vendor. BEWARE most drivers REQUIRE Windows XP or some other 32 bit OS. If you are trying to load this on a Windows 10, 8, or 7 machine it will likely not work.
I have the same issue after changing summer tires. I followed your procedure and the code disappeared and everything became normal until I drove my CT200H the next day! The warning lamp blinkered again after several minutes! Is it because of the wrong sensor IDs? I copied directly from the Live Datalist and registrated them again. It is a secondhand car and I don't know the sensor IDs exactly.
Thanks for such a concise video! Just wanted to know if I can add a 5th sensor for a full size spare I purchased? How would I change the registered IDs from 4 to 5?
That would require a full ECU reflash, and I don't even think they made 3rd Gen ECU software that has a 5th sensor (And even if they did getting the firmware to reflash your ECU would be near impossible :( Sorry man.
Dude, thanks for taking your time to make this video. Do you remember which version of Windows XP you installed the software (windows xp home edition, or professional, etc) and was the Windows XP version 32Bit or 64Bit? Thanks again!
XP Pro 32 bit. But the version (home, Pro, Etc) does NOT matter but it MUST be 32 bit version and since 99% of Win XP was 32 bit you should be good if you have anything with XP on it.
funman1steve, When you replaced the TPMS sensor, did you also have to replace the TPMS service kit? That Service Kit comes with grommets, O-rings..etc. I am thinking about getting 3 TPMS sensors for my Toyota but I'm not sure if I should also need to get the TPMS kit. I hope that the TPMS sensor is enough. Thanks for any info.

Either should work, BUT I usually do it with the engine off, (Unless I'm doing other real time engine stuff with TIS) HOWEVER the key must be in the ON position, the last click forward, just before actually starting the vehicle.
Any idea whether the Highlander (mine is 2015) supports more than 5 TPMS IDs? I got excited when I saw "Main Set" but I can't figure out how to switch it to anything else...it's not actually a selection button in techstream. I'm getting a second set of wheels with snow tires for winter and it would be nice to have all 8 IDs set.
This would make no sense even if it allowed it (Which it does not) The tires that are stored in the computer need to be communicated with regularly, otherwise the light will come on and flash when you start the vehicle and remain on for the rest of the drive. So unless you strap your summer tires to the roof in the Winter and strap your winter tires on the roof in the Summer this would not make any sense to add them all into the system. :) You just swap out the ID's when you swap out the tires for the season :)
Actually, some versions of the Tundra allow up to 10 IDs (which probably means when Techstream is connected to a Tundra, that "Main Set" label is actually a selector). I assume the Tundra doesn't turn on the TPMS alarm light as long as it's getting info from 4, because I haven't seen any Tundras driving around with a bed full of snow tires in summer. :-)
Which version of TS are you using? I bought a cable and it came with TS 12. It installs fine and runs, but there's no option for utility. I ended up finding a copy of TS 10 online and got it installed. But TS 10 requires a network connection after 30 uses.. Which kind of sux. Thanks for the vid! Jose Torres Yes as seen in the video. Make sure to write down all your sensor numbers before going into programming mode. All your sensors can be seen on the live data screen so just write them down or take a picture of the screen.
It makes no sense that "there's no auto discover 'for tpms sensor registration ID codes' "...a couple minutes After you show yourself working on the table with them listed. I didn't write down the sensor codes on any of the sensors before I installed all 5 in my 08 RAV4, and am thinking, why can't I do what you said you did, which is to deflate each tire and watch the table to identify each one. Shouldn't that work? Thx!
As you said you didn't write down any sensor numbers, so the system will not connect to any of your new sensors. Thus, deflating each tire one at a time will do you no good because the sensors aren't connected to the computer, so you won't be able to see the PSI is each tire yet. A Tire Shop may have a wireless scan tool to scan for your tire sensors? Also did the boxes the sensors came in have serial numbers on the box?
@@IOCaneTech Answer much appreciated. However, I've watched dozens of vids on installing TPMS sensors, and read all the directions mine came with-Geartronics brand- and in the YT vids very few talk about or show the step of copying the codes stamped on the sensors and manually inputting them into the car's computer. Instead, as with the directions for these Geartronics, and some Marsflex sensors I just bought for my Nissan Rogue, they all did the same thing- installed the "previously programmed" ( as per the manufacturers) tpms sensors, scanned them with a TS508 or similar tool to "Activate" them, then connected the tool to the car's ODB Port and the car's computer read the IDs from there, and after driving a few mins >30mph, they were read by the car's ecu. As for my experience, I installed a Marsflex in my Rogue and my scan tool TS508 showed, as it did with the RAV4's Geartronics sensors, it was active and gave the tire pressure, But, when I connected to the ODB port, the RAV showed error code with ID5 info not received and in the Rogue it was ID2 info not received...but the picture/diagram oddly shows a red 'balloon' next to Both left wheels, yet on the TS508 tool it shows them reading OK and Both Right wheels have a red X next to them. Maxi isn’t clear with their directions what those symbols mean. Argh! So, from what you know, all those YTers are wrong or omitted a step they Must've taken, and that I will Have To remove all the tires and get the sensor IDs stamped on each sensor I installed and make a location chart like you did? God help me, if so. And that's a Lot of misinformation in YT videos by some very popular YT mechanics.
@@cd5781 Sure if you have an extra tool like a $300 - TS508 then yeah, the programming method is totally different than using the Toyota dealer TIS Techstream software. What many tire shops NON-OEM tools do is read the OBDII old sensor ID's into memory and then aftermarket sensors can be programmed to match the old IDs wirelessly. Thus the ECU is never actually reprogrammed, just the new aftermarket sensors are re-programmed to match the old sensor ID's. My method is exactly how it's done at Toyota Dealerships using OEM sensors and software. Any other videos or how to's with other sensors and or tools, will have much different instructions. Not that I'm aware of. I'm no expert inthe software but I don't think you can just add one. It would have no idea which one to remove to add the new one. It can only store 5 so if you try to add a new one it would have no idea which ID to remove to make room to add another.
Are the IDs specific to which location the tires being installed? For example, if you did a tire rotation between the front and rear tires, do you need to go into TechStream and switch ID3 and ID4? Or does the TPMS recognize them as long as all 5 sensors are registered, regardless where they are installed? Thanks!
+Yanggang Chen The computer has NO CLUE where the sensors are installed/located on the vehicle. When you rotate the tires you do not need to do anything, I personally keep track of mine when I rotate tires so I KNOW where they are located, but the ECU has no way of tracking which sensor is where on the car. As long as it gets signal from all 5 sensors it's happy and the light stays off. (Unless you have a low tire)

I'm in the process waiting for reply Thanks so there no way to just add 1 since I'm able to get Into the registration process
Not that I'm aware of. I'm no expert inthe software but I don't think you can just add one.
It would have no idea which one to remove to add the new one. It can only store 5 so if you try to add a new one it would have no idea which ID to remove to make room to add another.
where do you buy this, cant find it
Buy what? The Sensors, The laptop, Techstream?

+funman1steve Thank you very much!
Great video thanks!
how i can know what id is from rear and front?
where you found the picture
@@delgadodelgado8817 Did you watch and listen to the video? I explain it all in there...
funman1steve sorry bro i don’t understand to much english just spanish
@@delgadodelgado8817 OK.. The vehicle does not know the location of each sensor, They are Bluetooth the computer only knows 5 devices, it does not know their location on the vehicle.
funman1steve you said to know what is the bad sensor is take out the air and see the data list ??? that i understand is correct?
Fantastic thank you
Nice and good.
works fine
Very nice!
Does the TPMS sensors have the Id codes physically imprinted on the outside? The reason I am asking is because I got four OEM sensors from another totalled 2009 Lexus gs450(i think)but my car is 2018 Lexus is300, so I want to mount those old sensors onto another set of winter rims(18" as well). Does anyone know what I can do without going to dealership? Can I buy a tool to scan OEM sensors then plug in ateq quick reset tool to reset my TPMS on the car? Please help me out.
Yes the ID is imprinted on each sensor.
funman1steve
Thanks for quick reply, can this software reprogram a set 4 of used old 2009 Lexus gs450 sensors into a new 2018 Lexus is300 car? So basically, my sister's pastor gave me his set of four TPMS sensors with tires and rims (18"). I want to use them as winter tires. In spring, I will like to swap the tires out and put back my original 2018 Lexus is300 18" rims and tires.

Do I still need ateq quick reset tool if I have the Toyota techstream program?
I have no idea if sensors that old can be programmed to a vehicle that new. They may use different freq and communication protocols.
However if it can be done then Yes Techstream would do it.
But I have doubts that sensors that old, are compatible with a vehicle that new.
I have no idea what that tool is.
Windows xp? :-)
Bruh this was filmed 8+ years ago. LOL
However the steps are still the same on a newer OS.
@@IOCaneTech Love XP! Don't get me wong! :-)
Do I have to program all 5 sensors? Or since one of them is broken can I disable it?
As far as I know you need to program all 5. Just replace the broken one? They are cheap...
Thanks for the video!
