My favorite part about this character is how he pretends to have his lines on the flashcards even though there's clearly nothing on them.
It’s impressive too! I would have expected the lines to be written on them just for ease

I've been watching these on TH-cam recently and I absolutely love Taran's crowd work. It feels like the first time he did this they had the groaner, but it really hit and he ran with it and they kept doing it. And his ability to recover is LEGENDARY!
I love Jebidiah, please keep showing him!

Lorne fired him cause he was bitter that Taran was becoming more successful than he wanted him to be.

Nikoo Ahmadi -- It seemed that, because Taran was busy directing his own film over the Summer, independent of SNL and any Lorne Michaels production, when it was time for him to be called back for the next Season, he was told he wasn't coming back...which he found strange, since he supposedly had one more year on his SNL contract. Taran, himself, said he was surprised by the development, since he intended, right after finishing work on his film, to resume his SNL duties...I believe he still hasn't gotten a very reasonable answer as to why he wasn't asked back. I immediately thought: Is this because Taran has a few projects in the works, and just directed a film, and that's too much success, power, and individuality for Mr. Michaels? I wonder: Will Taran be invited on SNL to promote his new sitcom, Single Parents, or is it WAY TOO SOON?
His delivery just makes this amazing

shockofthenew Actually, I think Seth lost it because he messed up the joke. I think there was supposed to be a setup line before the "Ebenezer Snooze" punchline...
The joke fell completely flat (no one laughed). So, they made a joke out of the joke not working :)

This critic character is great! Taran is so funny that Seth can't keep it together haha. Seth giggling uncontrollably in the background just makes it even better 😂
The “Ebeneezer Snooze” joke had to have been the worst-delivered line I’ve ever heard, resulting in the funniest moment in this show’s history.
Karpatska it was delivered fine, he just missed the setup line - "Ebenezer Scrooge??? More like Ebenezer Snooze!!!" Taran played it off great though by checking the card as a joke as if the card was wrong
The dead silence and their reactions are funnier than the joke could've every been.
@@YuKheThai It's the kind of stuff you used to see on Johnny Carson. Turning around a dud joke is the supreme talent for a sketch or stand-up comedian.
No one mentions the part at the end where he brings up the Star Wars Holiday Special and indicates he loved it.

This is the dress rehearsal version of this bit. On the live broadcast the line was "CHRISTMAS CAROL....EBENEEZER SCROOGE?? MORE LIKE EBENEEZER SNOOZE..." and it still didn't get a laugh, which caused them both to break and shrug. The dress version is overall MUCH funnier, which is why they chose it over the live version for reruns (which happens a lot more than anyone realizes).
We need Jebediah doing reviews of politicians.. :)
He didn't leave at all.. he wasn't picked up for his 7th year which was in his contract, and not given any reasons.. when he was quite successful that last year. But Michaels does that a lot.. killing cast and reinventing.. But still.. he's made mistakes like giving Trump free press from hosting one of the shows.. and then pulling Taran Killam.. but then Killam went onto Hamilton.. Kinda poetic I think.. :)
