I ordered the one with the water and drain hookups on release day, it has been amazing so far. All I have to do is clean the air filter on the dust bin every 3 days and change the bag out every 3 weeks or so when I refill the detergent. Come home every day to perfectly clean floors with extremely minimal maintenance.
@@zamzamzaman4291 I have a cat and a german shepard so with the hair and extra dust I like to keep it clean so it works like new every day. You dont have to clean the filter that often and it will still work just fine, but taking 60 seconds to just pop it out and sucked the packed in dust out with my shop vac 20 feet away isnt a lot of maintenance to me. It vacuums and mops my entire house every day so I expect it to deal with a lot of fine dust that does not get 100% cleaned out of the filter when emptying at the dock.
I was waiting long time for this review. I'm really happy that i bought the S8 MaxV Ultra and the review confirms also that this is the best robot vacuum on the market right now. Thanks.
I love this channel and will absolutely be using it every single time I buy any kind of vacuum (I'll be buying a robo vacuum/mop combo some time next year for sure). One thing I wish they could test though is longevity. All of these tests are over such a short period of time, and it would be great if they could keep being used and then maybe once a year or something Vacuum wars could report which models continue to perform well and which have started to break or encounter issues. Performance straight out of the box is important, but arguably even more important is how reliable they are in the long run.
As a S7 MaxV Ultra owner. I could definitely see myself stepping up to the S8 MaxV Ultra. I like the camera function, but the new side brushes and base station sure look nice!!
Hmm I think you could do the corner test a bit better. In your scenario you have four pieces of flat wood which means the four sides are completely vertical but in most houses there is this skirting that comes out from the wall that makes it not flat if you know what I mean.
Could you please also included in your tests of the vacuum robot works on black (or very dark) carpet? Most of them will go beserk on dark floors, with the cliff sensor thinking the machine might fall down. As far as I know only Roombo works good on dark floors. 0:01
I did get this on opening day I would have gone for the Water Hookups but I live in a apartment and not really easy to do with placement of the Dock. I love this. I went from the iRobot s9+ and the Brava M6 and it is SOOO MUCH BETTER! It maped my place in 15 min vs 4 Hours! ITs Quiter and the all in one of Moping and Vacuming is so nice. And the AI Obstical Avoidance is so nice so I don't have to prep my floors every time I want to send the robot out.
The X40 has navigation issues. Word is that Dreame released it one year too early just to be able to say they have a better model than Roborock’s new models. Things will prpbably improve with updates though.
@@galapiat yeah I heard some of the new Roborocks are not deploying the flexi arm as good as it should along with other stuff but yeah software updates should help
I got the S8 Max Ultra on sale when it launched on amazon (rebate/rewards from roborock for both of them was nice as well). Night and day compared to Q7 Max+... The Q7 mop is a joke in comparison.. Not worried about suction since I have it on a floor that's all hardwood. Really want to see how these compare to a Dreame X40 Ultra. Both are compatible with open source firmware compatible with Home Assistant. My friend just flashed his Dreame to it.
would be great if you could include maximum height a robot can climb. this is especially important for people living in europe since rooms are often seperated by 2cm and more edges that the robot needs to climb
Did they fix the problems that other reviewers have noted? For example apparently the corner cleaning feature is a bit of a flop because it would stop rotating hitting the corners. In addition they measured the water temperature which was nowhere close to 60° C
He doesn’t mention negatives anymore. Just what will get people to buy from his links. No comparison to other brands or even previous models. 2.0 has absolutely gone down the drain
@@KatyaKatoo Mine got an update about a week and a half ago to change the algorith used for the spinning brush, it uses it more often now. I check the corners for hair regularly and its always clean.
Hi @VacuumWars, About seven years ago, thanks to your review, I bought the Mi Robot Vacuum. It was one of the best vacuums back then, and it served me well until last year. However, I’ve noticed something with Xiaomi robot, other Chinese brandI have been using, and (likely) the Roborock S8 as well-though I’ve only been using it for about 10 days. After several cleaning runs, these robots tend to spread dust unevenly inside the dustbin. As a result, the dustbin’s capacity is significantly reduced because most of the dust collects in the center, where the suction power is strongest. Interestingly, this issue seems to resolve itself after the dust filter is replaced. Could you please test this aspect extensively and share your insights? Thank you!
Don't know how with these, but with S8 it's "AI avoidance" is so unusable I had to turn it off. Maybe in an empty room it's fine, but if I stand in a room in some spot during vacuum it detects me as shoes or other obstacle from some distance and tries to omit this spot later even if I'm no longer there. I'd love to see an additional test with dynamic map, where some things change place during vacuum work and how it reacts to this. Because right now it's quite annoying with these vacuums. Also, their support for automation using OS features like Shortcuts in iOS is quite bad. E.g. it's not possible to clean more than one chosen room using shortcuts. Also it's not possible to integrate it properly with e.g. smart switches as the same is even in Mi Home app. So still lots of work on the app front too.
Had any issues with Lidar Turret error? Got a max v ultra and can't resolve it. Turret revolves fine if you try to rotate it with a pen. Support is absolutely shocking. Only 3 months old. Amazing Bot when it worked but this is super frustrating unless there is an easy fix.
Can you also add tests for "thresholds"? I have thresholds between each main rooms and my roomba j7+ shows signs of navigation issues when it goes over it. Also its base is a little scrapped because of it. Not sure how a robot with a mop will behave with it.
So far the s8 maxv has been doing pretty well with my threshold and its a hard one to get over. Upgraded from a s7 maxv and it would also get stuck at the same spot, i kept the mop uninstalled because i just needed it mainly for vacuuming plus i didnt get the dock because i wasnt sure if i really wanted to soend that much. It does sometimes get stuck, but it will correct itself and get over it. So far no regrets getting the s8 maxv
@@gsxrfire8310 experiences like these are important. I didn't even think about threshold before buying my current Roomba J7+ as I never saw anyone mention it. I am factoring it for my next purchase, but as I want mop on my next robot, I am not sure how thresholds would impact the decision making. Thank you for mentioning about your experience with s7 and s8. I have them in my radar vs eufy x10
I havent seen any youtuber make proper pickup tests of small moist sand. You know small particles that covers the floor. You cant really see but feel its there by draging a finger over it. My S8 totally failed on this. This test should be included !. My hairy dog bring in sand turning floors into sand paper basically. If the floor feels just as dirty after doing 2 passes on Max mode. And mopping. Its a real dealbreaker atleast for me. I think other people wants to know about this also.
Love the review but one minor disagreement. The plumbing system roborock sells was about as complicated as hooking up a washing machine. Not sure if thats practical or not for most people, but i thought the process was reasonable, and not changing the mop water is the best feature ive experienced.
What would you say about the Roborock App? Especially for using it with the Roborock S8 Max Ultra. Because I bought that one, and when I tried to connect it with the app via QR code, it said that the device was an unknown type, and when I tried to find it in the app... well, it wasn't there at all.
Curious of your thoughts on comparison with s8 Pro Ultra, do these side brush/mop make noticeable difference in the outcome of the room cleaning? (Asking because price for s8 Pro Ultra sometimes drops to ~1K making it more affordable comparing to these new ones.)
Great review. I agree with you about the S8 Max. What if you want the best cleaning power and the voice assistant but you don't want a robot with a camera, that's not possible. I wish Roborock would introduce a model that has the design of the Q Revo but all of the cleaning power of the S8 Max V. I do have the Q Revo but I don't think it's worth upgrading to the Q Revo Max V, especially since I don't need the obstacle avoidance. If you can, you should check out the Narwal Freo X Ultra, it is really awesome. I really wonder if Irobot will come out with something to compete with these other brands, they are so far behind the competition now that if they don't do something major soon they might be done.
Can there be a test to see how they handle completing a floor plan with _moving_ obstacles (pets) in the space? My X1 Omni used to never complete my floor plan because my dogs would be blocking pathways to other areas, and it would simply avoid the dogs and those areas. I had to put my dogs away to run it.
I am looking for a robot vacuum, but i can't find one without disposble bags. Is there a list of all the robots with a trash bin instead of a disposable bag? I mean the ones with a base station, that selfclean, ideally with a mop and detergent canisters.
Bag-less you will need to empty every couple of days. However with bags you’ll only need to empty every few months. The bags compress the debris more and can go far longer without emptying.
Its identical but better due to never needing to worry about filling it or dumping the nasty water tank, I got one on release day and I will never go back as long as they offer them. I just put it in my laundry room to hook up to the normal washer water line and drain in the wall, works perfect.
@@mint88rx8 sadly my laundry is upstairs and I need it downstairs :( does the package come with enough parts to connect to your existing system or probably need to source ourselves?
thanks for the review! so this one dethrones Dreame L20/X30 from their title? would be interesting to see how the new Dreame X40 deals with this competition.
So the question.... upgrading from my s9 plus and m6 brava jet to a new model. Should I go with the S8 Max v ultra or the Dream L20 ultra. We have lots of hardwood and carpet, so both are appealing. Price is similar to so just looking at pros and cons. Thank you all
@VacuumWars That's a good enough response for me lol. Absolutely love the content you do, my wife makes fun of me but loving all the recommendations from your channel.
With the L20 ultra you get practically the same robot for a lot less $$.. The next gen robot that will be worth the upgrade over L20 ultra is when something like the Dreame Mova g30 ultra makes its way out of china
I got mine a maxv yesterday. Do you have a solution for carpets with fringes? I added 4 barriers for each carpet to protect them but soon those carpets move over time and barriers become obsolete 🤖
Is the S8 Max V ultra quiet? I have the S7 max v ultra and may thing to upgrade in the future. FYI I have ceramic tile throughout my home and it works great on my tile floors. I am not expecting it to scrub in between the grout as the pad surface is a flat level but it does vacuum and mop it that I can tell. I know some tile and grout that is not even can be tricky and if the grout is not level with the tile its not going to mop it. It's been a time saver for me.
Question: I have some very reflective furniture (chrome) and round foots for some chairs. My robot can't recognize the chrome chair and keeps bumping around in his U shaped foot. The circle foot is something it climbs on and get stuck on when under the retracted foot-rest. Are there robots that can recognize these two obstacles without blocking them by hand? Thank you.
vs the Eufy X10 omni!? also the s8 MaxV objeect avoidance is crap in my experience, also maintainance is still required to clean the trais in the "self clean" system"
72% carpet deep clean score for S8 Max and 82% for S8MaxV. Vs. 84% for Q Revo, 86% for S7 MaxV and 78% For S8 Pro and 80% For regular S7. How is it possible that the carpet deep clean scores keep regressing for Roborock all the while they keep supposedly increasing the suction? S8 MaxV is said to have 10000 pa, while S7 is said to have 2500 pa. So with 4 times as much suction as the S7, the airflow a d deep cleaning performance are practically identical (12CFM on S7 vs 13CFM on S8 MaxV Ultra) and cleaning performance. And for the S8 Max Ultra, they have actually regressed considerably. Roborock is lying to consumers pretty horribly with their suction numbers. I appreciate the fact that you reported the test results properly in this video, but I wish you’d also called them (and other manufacturers) out on this. Also, it seems like the Roomba S9 remains carpet deep clean king. It’s a shame it’s held back by awful navigation, using Vslam and not having mopping. Kind of seems like it’ll be a really long time until we get a better carpet deep cleaning robot.
It's not in the works right now, but we have tested it and it ranked really well in our Best Robot Vacuum competition video right here: th-cam.com/video/ccFspGr1SIQ/w-d-xo.html
I have an option to buy a Roborock s7 maxv ultra, for 810.00 tax free. Should I go with the 7 or spend the extra money for the 8's? I have a 1400 sq foot house with 98% laminate floors and two dogs.
I still don't see a reason to upgrade over my S7 MaxV ultra. I even have the auto water change (had to order from China) so it empties and refills water from our laundry hookup. So at a minimum I need one with automatic water change before I consider upgrading.
@@_TrueDesire_Often the V(surveillance camera) option is cheaper, as it’s subsidized by “big brother.” Sadly, as mentioned in this video, they instead decreased the performance of the secure version. Essentially incentivizing people to spend more against their own security interests. Truly the worst of both worlds.
@@StephenSmith304Steven, I had the same question, why would I swap my S7max V ultra which is working fine; then I checked the floor boards. The pop-out brush and mop convinced me to give it a try; I am very glad it did. It really makes a difference along floor boards. If you decide to make the switch, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
@@fZionists78The v can not be cheaper due to the camera parts cost more. The security concern is the costomers own issue. You want privacy, just trade off the performance.
It’s pretty rare that I want company to innovate less, But Roborock… could you release fewer models, but with bigger steps? XD It seems like we have a new model every two months now i’d rather have one a year. Theres too mnay variations with small differences at this point
I don't usually comment on things however, this is getting frustrating. Can somebody also take the noise level of these vacuum cleaners into their comparison videos? I have not found any information about noise levels in reviews or videos. This should also be included because you don't want a bulldozer running inside your house. I am more sensitive to noise levels rather than cleaning performance . I can run it twice or thrice until the floor is spotless. I don't understand where these suction power fetishes of the vacuum cleaner industry come from. What are the noise levels in quiet and turbo mode? If you share it with us, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
I really wish these companies would simplify their product lines and stop offering models where they leave off features or intentionally cripple. It must add so much complexity to their business, and I personally buyer fewer things because it makes me indecisive or confused. Car companies do the same thing. Feels like some antiquated strategy of the 1980s.
be careful what you wish for, they could potentially do a software lock on the feature, then sell you extra feature as software download. Imagine having to pay $5 monthly subscription to keep your heated water feature on.

Bag-less you will need to empty every couple of days. However with bags you’ll only need to empty every few months. The bags compress the debris more and can go far longer without emptying.
hi vacuum wars i have a vacuum recommendation witch is the rainbow e2 black vacuum it will blow away most of vacuums you tested
pls
i think if you set on every Vacuum you own, you can create a black hole
really want to get the drainage one, but not much review on that :(
Its identical but better due to never needing to worry about filling it or dumping the nasty water tank, I got one on release day and I will never go back as long as they offer them.
We are looking at the X40 now!
That X40 review is up now: th-cam.com/video/8XL9RMVFbKY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6nksfymatV3f1ZGk
So the question.... upgrading from my s9 plus and m6 brava jet to a new model. Should I go with the S8 Max v ultra or the Dream L20 ultra. We have lots of hardwood and carpet, so both are appealing. Price is similar to so just looking at pros and cons. Thank you all
We are keeping the S8 MaxV at our house now!
@VacuumWars That's a good enough response for me lol. Absolutely love the content you do, my wife makes fun of me but loving all the recommendations from your channel.
Absolutely not Ecovacs, it just sucks compared to Roborock
With the L20 ultra you get practically the same robot for a lot less $$..
The next gen robot that will be worth the upgrade over L20 ultra is when something like the Dreame Mova g30 ultra makes its way out of china
PLEASE NOTE: Roborock Recomends to ONLY use THIER Detergeant to avoid damage to the dock. Please be caustios when using non Roborock Detergent
Looks like it’s supposed to have compatibility with the matter standard, could you elaborate on that a bit? Thanks
I bought the S7 maxv ultra based on your recommendations. How does this compare to the previous version?
I got mine a maxv yesterday. Do you have a solution for carpets with fringes? I added 4 barriers for each carpet to protect them but soon those carpets move over time and barriers become obsolete 🤖
what is the size of water tank in the station 4:55 ?
Is the S8 Max V ultra quiet? I have the S7 max v ultra and may thing to upgrade in the future. FYI I have ceramic tile throughout my home and it works great on my tile floors. I am not expecting it to scrub in between the grout as the pad surface is a flat level but it does vacuum and mop it that I can tell. I know some tile and grout that is not even can be tricky and if the grout is not level with the tile its not going to mop it. It's been a time saver for me.
Question:
I have some very reflective furniture (chrome) and round foots for some chairs. My robot can't recognize the chrome chair and keeps bumping around in his U shaped foot. The circle foot is something it climbs on and get stuck on when under the retracted foot-rest. Are there robots that can recognize these two obstacles without blocking them by hand?
Thank you.
We don't have a chrome or mirror test right now, so we can't say for certain. Maybe someone can chime in here.
What about electricity consumption of this device?
Please give us a comparison of 8 maxv versus qrevo maxv
where do you place the roomba j9 combo in your ranking? I'm very confused, switching to roborock I don't know if it has the same assistance as roomba?
Thanks for the review! Would love to see a review of new Roborock Qrevo Pro with only the lidar
I can't find the S8 Max Ultra anywhere on the web? Has it been discontinued or something? I live in Germany.
Not that we know of!
@@VacuumWars Thank you for the reply!
vs the Eufy X10 omni!? also the s8 MaxV objeect avoidance is crap in my experience, also maintainance is still required to clean the trais in the "self clean" system"
Do you have a list of best ones for each category like best for hardwood and vinyl?
Glad you are happy with it!
Could you please do a review of the newer shark air purifiers. They have the never change, true HEPA and another air filter.
Any chance you will be able to test the Switchbot S10 robot vacuum? Thanks.
No more air purifiers?
Was interested in seeing if there was a window fan that came with a filter & thought I might see something on this channel.
You should reveal the shark vertex az 2000 instead of the 2002
Any chance of the SwitchBot S10?
Do you plan on testing the switchbot s10?
I want the drain system one to be the mainstream robot, im tired replacing water :(
Any chance you'll be doing a roborock 2024 buyers guide (similar to last year) before prime day?
We are actually finishing up a Best Robot Vacuums Mid 2024 video this week. It will be out on Friday.
I’m excited I got the regular S8 Max Ultra at Target for $960
We hope you enjoy it!
Dose it leaves the floor sticky after mopping?
It didn't for us. Neither did.
@@VacuumWars that's great!
How does it compare to the X40 Ultra ? I can't sleep before I get this answer!
We are literally checking out the X40 now. Hold tight!
That X40 review is up now: th-cam.com/video/8XL9RMVFbKY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6nksfymatV3f1ZGk
Looking forward to your review of the Eufy S1 Pro
We are working on that review right now and expect to release it this Friday. Thank you!
@@VacuumWars Looking forward to it! I upgraded from a Neato D750 to the S1 Pro. Loving it.
I wish Roborock could refine their duel roller system to rival iRobots for carpet deep cleaning performance
I hate the fact that they now use bagged systems instead of the bagless system.
Torn between this and the S7 / T30s. My apartment is half carpet half hard floor and my N8 Pro+ just died.
Our Dreame X30 review is releasing in one minute - so hand tight for that possibility too.
Sir can you please do a comparison between the roborock s7 Max ultra vs roborock s7 maxv ultra and the roborock s8 max ultra vs roborock s8 maxv ultra
That's a good idea. Thanks.
Eufy S1 pro; have you received it already? Waiting for the review :-)
We are working on that review right now and expect to release it this Friday. Thank you for asking!
Love the review!!
Thank you!
Can't wait for your review on the dyson g1 when it comes out!
Are you going to do a review on the x2 omni ?
It's not in the works right now, but we have tested it and it ranked really well in our Best Robot Vacuum competition video right here: th-cam.com/video/ccFspGr1SIQ/w-d-xo.html
Dreame X40 vs S8 Max V ASAP 🥺🙏🏽
I have an option to buy a Roborock s7 maxv ultra, for 810.00 tax free. Should I go with the 7 or spend the extra money for the 8's? I have a 1400 sq foot house with 98% laminate floors and two dogs.
It’s… soooooo expensive tho…
But it now includes a V in the name! Clearly, it adds costs 😂
It’s pretty rare that I want company to innovate less,
But Roborock… could you release fewer models, but with bigger steps? XD
It seems like we have a new model every two months now i’d rather have one a year.
Theres too mnay variations with small differences at this point
Can this work in a 2 story house?
Yeah, but you'll obviously have to pick it up and move it upstairs. I would just get a second cheaper version for upstairs lol.
Please start testing the window washing robots!
Thank you.
I know this is a stretch and off topic but can you also do coffee machine wars plz? I want to know which makes the best latte lol
Please review SwitchBot S10
I really wish these companies would simplify their product lines and stop offering models where they leave off features or intentionally cripple. It must add so much complexity to their business, and I personally buyer fewer things because it makes me indecisive or confused. Car companies do the same thing. Feels like some antiquated strategy of the 1980s.
be careful what you wish for, they could potentially do a software lock on the feature, then sell you extra feature as software download. Imagine having to pay $5 monthly subscription to keep your heated water feature on.
How about S8 Pro Ultra vs S8 Max Ultra?
love the s8max V ultra power but not the camera
