Had a customers '99 vette in the shop for overheating. It had been at other shops, where they replaced several parts and it was still overheating. He brought it to us to replace the radiator. Customer is always right, so I tossed in a new radiator. Still overheated. I removed the coolant spyder, and found all four passages clogged. Cleaned out the goo and it was running cool.
Any idea if the small metal gaskets are needed under the steam pipe? I installed a factory vent pipe on the rear of my 03 Z06. Leaks intermittently… new felpro O- rings (match factory), and clean mounting surface. Still leaks… torqued to spec each time… still leaks. Front never leaked, and never had the small metal gaskets.
I can honestly say that these videos on the LS platform are VERY useful for me! I'm acquiring a complete (minus the stolen cats and ruined fuel tank) 2004 3500 Express van for a first time swap project. My project vehicle is a 1993 C3500 crew cab long bed single rear wheel truck. The donor vehicle has the LQ4 6.0, 4L80E, and a relatively rare disc brake rear axle. You guys have my full attention and appreciation. Thank you!
Thank you for explaining the purpose and the importance of this seemingly insignificant little part. On my 06 Silverado, the little metal tube failed in the middle at a bend and I could not source one. At the time, I was tempted to just block it off. After thinking it through, I cut out the bad section and simply flared and clamped an appropriate hose; viola, problem solved. However, now it is at the point of the remaining metal tubing is beginning to fail. I have found the replacement on Amazon that seems to fit.
Thanks for the quick and simple explanation. Swapping an LS into a Land Rover as we speak and that dangling hose was stressing me out... The T is on order now!
I bought several fittings/parts of Earl's plumbing to do a four corner vent system on my LS7 with the MSD Atomic intake. When I get the engine to that point I'll make a video to pass along. It wasn't cheapest route but couldn't Not have them all going. The intake was the biggest hurdle to having all four vents working
The LS is not a reverse cooling system. Water flows into the block at the lower ports, up through the heads, and out through the upper ports. The thermostat is just located on the water pump inlet instead of the wp outlet.
They plugged the back, but they also tilted the motor back .. If you have the same tilt @3° when doing a swap, you can stick with the front steam xover.

It is hard for me to focus on the great information of all his videos due to the gasping for air. I believe a better microphone and not on his person would help reduce the unwanted sound effect! Otherwise, I love the content, so I keep watching!!!
I see guys tapping waterpump , thermostat housing ect down lower than the steam ports, its actually a bad idea! Why cause the waterpump can create air, its lower than the steam ports , its my opinion that it should go in the upper radiator hose or just under the radiator cap in the radiator and provides a easy way air can escape, think of it as brake lines, you can't have a master cylinder below the calipers or a caliper bleeder on the bottom, such wrong info about steam vent air configuration

Love these videos. Helps cut down some of the BS that can be read in forums and such. Keep it up!
Nice Video.
Thanks for posting this.
I'm glad you guys came out with this Video cause I was wondering what to do with those things I'm eventually doing an LS swap to a 87 Monte Carlo SS
Very useful. Not much online about these pipes. Thanks for making the video
Man nothing but knowledge on this video. I thought i got lucky with a ls6 intake, turns out its a pain in the ass in this area. Lol
Thank you

Excellent information for me.
Currently building a 6.0 turbo and I’m looking at everything to help me build a beautiful reliable engine.
man i have bought parts from you since back in the day! keep the tech tips up!
Clear and concise information. Much appreciated!

I drilled and tapped my water pump for my steam line on my ls swapped k5 blazer. Looks cleaner in my opinion than using the upper hose adapter.
I have the single cross over in the front of my 2005 envoy denali 5.3 mine’s literally runs down into my heater core hose. Why?
How do I do it if I have 2 driver side rec port heads I think the rears are blocked off
Where can I hook up my pcv valve on a l83 swap ?
Good morning
I just ran crossover hoses front and back with no outlet ..
Do the ports need gaskets or just the o ring
Do the blocks leak?
Torque specs plz
106 inch pounds for the steam port bolts.
@@Sdpartscenter thank you
Cut to the chase
Breathing problem still can't watch
Your inhaling and exhaling is so loud I can’t watch your videos.

Why is he breathing so damn hard?
