I'm doing a cam kit in a few weeks 223/228 @.058/.0588 @114 and dual springs and dod delete , I've ordered the comp cam press in bush setup for piece of mind for my daily. It makes sense to do everything while the heads are off. Only a few hundred dollars for peace of mind.
Love the vids I really appreciate the knowledge! So I went with che with my build in my 05 ls2 gto with a medium 232 234 600 600 cam good springs Delphi ls7 lifters and more . I'm a street guy who daily's my car with some spirited pulls here and races here and there. What's the longevity until I need to replace my che bushings? And springs at that?
Great video nice to know this because I got a few needle bearings on my oil plug magnet 😔 I have a stock 2000 5.7 ls1 trans am. Do these upgrades fit my stock rocker arms?
Even if you have a stock ls3 or lsa.. DO THE CHE BUSHINGS. Why? Over kill for longevity. Not only that. But let’s be honest? We rev the hell out of these engines. We spend time in the higher rpm’s because that’s what we love. This should be a must and recommendation by default. I hope someone understands what I’m getting at. It’s worth the money.
Hey sir I have a question. When you remove the rocker and do the install does it need to go back on the same valve or does that really matter? 130k mi motor. Has a bit of surface wear where the valve runs but not to bad. Thank you in advance.
Great video, so I have a 2012 GS with ECS supercharger, 8lb boost. Makes 592hp to wheels. I rest of the engine is stock. Do you recommend this upgrade and also what about lifters? Not sure if with stock cam I’m going to have issues.
When you’re got golden flakes in your oil it’s time to replace haha they really only see that amount there’s just not enough oil getting in them to float on, it’s the only drama. Atleast che have done there best to make use of getting oil in there. If you had squirters the things would own
Is there anything unique about the retainer clips used at the ends. Previous owner of my car (08 vette, ls3), did the upgrade set with the bronze bushings. I pulled the valve covers off and found two of the rockers to be off center and have broken retaining clips on one side. Clip was still on just pushed to the siding and missing one of the snap ring ends for the pliers to grab at. I want to make sure I can repress them straight and add a new retaining/snap ring from hardware store
I cannot confirm if the snap ring used is special or generic. you can try to find a replacement, but no guarantees it will work. I know BTR offers a trunnion retainer clip for individual purchase, but not sure if they are the correct inside diameters or not.
I got one question I just got my first LS it’s a VE SSV Holden Commodore aka G8 Pontiac with the L76 now I know nothing about wanting to work on my motor for someone like me we’re do I start also I do have A DOD delete Cam kit Custom 2 1/2 inch exhaust extractors and a intake but want to do Internals but don’t know anything about besides names of things from trying to learn myself

They're really fine for stock applications. Some people might do an aftermarket cam on low-mile, low-abuse engines and get away with it. But for the cost and time involved, we tend to recommend it if you're making any significant changes with a cam install. It's just more of a CYA move.
@@iMaRtYz is this based on research/experience or theory alone? i can imagine the needle and race trunnion having more advocates for durability as thats what GM uses, but we all know GM isnt only making choices based on what's best for the engine or vehicle. needle an race may meet their life expectancy average, but is it really the best? at this point its all academic for me cause i had to place my order already.
We don't have any of the Steve Morris kit on hand, but they're more than likely comparable. You wouldn't be steered wrong going with a BTR kit as well. We run the CHE trunnion kit on a variety of LS engines we build in the Raceshop, some of these are full tilt LS7's that are road raced, run on the autocross courses and other forms of abuse at high rpm and a lot of valvetrain shock. Best of luck on the build!
@@iMaRtYz I went with the BTR kit you mentioned. One important thing you said, and way too many others say, as well, is "bronze or brass." Trust me, there are no brass kits available for trunnions OR valve guides. You might get a week or 2 of durability out of brass. It is soft, REALLY SOFT. Anyone who would manufacture brass guides and/or trunnions wouldn't be manufacturing them long, because they'd be pure junk........
The point about the CHE bushing weight not being factored into the valvetrain weight is golden
laughed out loud when the 3rd arm came up with the trunnion in hand
Same.
Did you see him push that valve open? What a monster! I couldn't even budge mine.
Lol it's display cut away with a lighter spring rate just for demonstration
Great video! I think I’ll go CHE because of this 🤙🏻
Just got my set of Gen Iv CHE kit and mann they feel like quality . A motor you should never cheap out on !

Yes, these are designed to fit stock rocker arms.
Great Tech! Any plans to do a 5.3 cam test on the L83 like you did with the LM7?
We might, that one is a little more involved as the Gen V stuff is a bit finicky on the engine dyno.

According to GM SI yes, all Valvetrain parts must go back to their original locations
@Airman I agree. I ALWAYS put the rocker back on the valve it has worn to. If the valve stem tips have been resurfaced, then I'd buy new rockers......
Hi I just upgraded my cam shaft in 06 GTO wondering if I should upgrade my rockers too!?
If you're running heavy springs and an aggressive cam it wouldn't be a bad idea to look at a trunnion upgrade.
@@Sdpartscenter It’s a stage 2 cam with the stock heads valves & springs

It's not necessary but you can go with them whenever you plan to do a camshaft and spring upgrade.
How many miles can you get from the CHE bushings
You change them out after 10,000 miles😂

Anyone know if the bushing trunnions will reduce typewriter ls click?
Usually a lifter tick noise for dod engines.

How much RPM can the comp trunions take? Rev limit on my L76 is 7000 rpm
Does the trunion start ticking when it starts wearing?
So my valve springs get stiffer?
What lift and rpm are the stock trunnion able to withstand?

CHE vs Steve Morris durability?
I personally wouldn’t recommend the bronze/brass type kits. If you want a good trunnion upgrade. I would go with the Brian Tooley v2 TK002 kit.

Nothing but trouble with these trunion kits, they are all garbage especially for the street. Do it right, get some Yella Terra's and be done.
