    The Pontiac flat hydraulic that was used with their 041 RA/IV camshaft and valve train in 69/70 was capable of keeping track of the valves at over 7,000rpm.Went there with my crate engine many times on the street.’64 LeMans.There were many more parts inside,tho,to basically lock them up.

    Hey, Great videos, I have a stock 5.3. I'm interested in your SDPC Tow camshaft, 207/207-480/477-115. Can I used those lifters that are attached to each other and discord the trays? And use stock or better rockers and pushrod? If so, could you send me pat #'s? Thankyou Again, Dale

    • @Sdpartscenter

      You can use the link-bar style lifters but they would be way overkill for that cam. We recommend the LS7 lifters and trays for that combo.

      If all you are doing is swapping lifters, you shouldn't have to change Pushrods but new lifter buckets would be recommended.

      Stock springs will not be able to handle that lift, you will need PAC 1218's at the very least.

    • @gloriamaletta8667
      @gloriamaletta8667 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on what year 5.3 your talking about newer ones have DOD which in my opinion is junk and causes headaches but if your having problems with lifters in a older model 5.3 without DOD most likely it has 200,000 miles or more on it or maintenance like oil changes were neglected or someone has been revving the hell out of it often have had 4 LS Chevy engines 2 used ones a 2002 and one 2009 LS 5.3 engines a new GM performance 2008 LS2 6.0 engine and a new GM performance 2021 LS3 6.2 engine so far have not had a lifter failure in any of them and the 2009 5.3 has 150,000 miles but you'd never know it by driving it it runs just like new but l change my oil every 6 months regardless of miles every 3000 or most likely less with valvoline high mileage 5/30 synthetic and a wix XP oil filter not using the proper oil viscosity can cause problems also l use 5/30 oil in all of them

  • @gloriamaletta8667
    @gloriamaletta8667 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have had 4 Chevy LS engines one 2002 5.3 and and one 2009 5.3 both these engines were bought used bought a new GM performance LS2 6.0 engine in 2008 and a new GM performance LS3 6.2 engine in 2021 they are all maintained very well with oil changes and maintenance they are not beat on constantly but at times they are driven or revved hard l haven't had a lifter related failure in any of them and the 2009 5.3 has 150,000 miles on it you'd never know by driving it it still runs as good as new so far no ticking smooth and quite don't know exactly what lifters are used on GM LS performance crate engines but I've have revved them numerous times to 7200rpm with out any problems with a aftermarket or upgraded hydraulic roller camshaft with matching valve springs and l believe the GM performance LS crate engines don't even come with LS7 lifters just stock lifters but l could be wrong

    • @Airman..
      @Airman.. ปีที่แล้ว

      Gm did 3 lifter iterations throughout the years matter of fact it's still used in Gen V, the latest has a golden clip you can see it in this video, older than 07 or 06 it had a dull steel clip. What kills an OEM lifter is heavy valve spring seat pressure I've seen a brand new gm lifters set fail in the 4th dyno run! Thats the time when you need 2116lsr lifters seen on the table theses can take 420lb seat pressure all day long

    Then why so many part #’s ??!. It’s so damn confusing when ordering or looking for lifters
    You got 17122490 , 12499225, or 12648846 so what is the difference ? Video idea.?

    • @Sdpartscenter
      @Sdpartscenter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some are dependent on which location they're manufactured. You can have the same component but manufactured in two different factories and they have to have a different part number. Part gets a component from a different supplier? New part number.
      It's confusing even on our end!

    • @UNEEK_LOGIK
      @UNEEK_LOGIK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sdpartscenter so I talked to GM parts engineering and the lifter part# 17122490 are for iron older LS block/Motors and part# 12648846 are for aluminum blocks and Newer LS/LT motors.
      Part# 12499225 is a set of 16 lifters, individual part# 17122490 (older style)
      And it gets more confusing because GM is revising the part # again will update y’all with New part# when it becomes available
