Some people don’t understand that knowing why is just as important as knowing how. You keep doing what your doing.
Agreed, don’t cave in to the simpletons
Yea don't worry about silly criticisms, your viewers which appreciate your content weren't concerned with length. I can tell you're rushing in this vid! Hampers quality, and the jokes
Showing us why allows us evidence to believe you and go against the consule designers instructions.
Y’all understood that bullshit??
I think it's better if it's just plug and play. It's ridicolous that we have to adjust the settings of our beautifull consoles .
If you tap LT,RT,RB, and LB at the same time it will show you the nits for each screen. They appear in the top right corner. Do this starting with the black checkerboard screen.
This should be pinned !!!
Thx a lot for this information bro 👊
I never knew this wow
Bro. Thank you!
Man… you are mvp
Great info never knew this.. thank u
Stick to the length of your videos, if people don’t like the time, they can do the research themselves. I for one appreciate your effort
Well said Sean
Exactly. They can always go to Quantum TV or Stop the FOMO for "research" 😂
yeh longer the better for me and most people, then you don't miss anything out.
@@sinnexit7450 I wish people stopped mentioning them. You're literally giving them free publicity.
So I have completed the hdr settings on xbox will this now save so i won't have to do it everytime I turn my xbox on or off?
This video saved me! Endlessly tweaking the HDR sliders for months never feeling like I had a quite right because I always kept the black levels to where you can just see this checkered pattern and then this video schools us on how we’re not getting the true black I copied the settings exactly and the HDR on both my Xbox and PlayStation look completely fantastic thank you so much
Glad to hear that! :-)
Yes, my games (xbox sX)were looking dim and just didn't look right. But after this video showed how to properly calibrate hdr, games like elden ring look awesome.
Everyone who watches is looking for the in-depth explanation. It’s very interesting. So just keep doing what you’ve always been doing 👌🏼
Please don't shorten the videos. The level of detail and explanation is what makes you credible!
It's not everyday that you get told that it's "too long" Vincent, so just appreciate the compliment! ; )
Ding
lmao
Hahaha
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I swear Vincent is the 2020 mvp! Next you should definitely add in.. In game hdr sliders and how these settings will effect the hdr in game as well. ✌🏻
I agree. It's so important to have both adjusted correctly for HDR to shine👍✌
Please don't try to shorten these videos. You make amazing content and it needs to be fully experienced. Keep up the awesome work. I got an LG C1 thanks to you and am enjoying all the videos you post about gaming and picture settings. I'd appreciate if you can one day try to do a sound settings video because I will not be using a soundbar for a while but I'd love to know what sound options would sound the best for which kind of content.
After recalibrating my xbox with these video tips I must say the hdr looks much cleaner now. Didn't realize that first setting should be set to the bottom to get the deepest blacks. Really wonder why they even give that option if ideally everyone would set it to 0. At any rate many thanx for this video Vincent, you're the man! 👊🏻✌🏻
I like the in depth explanations, leaves me without as many questions.
Please don't listen to anyone that is saying it's to long I want to say thank you very much for taking the time to explain this to us
Rather than 19 minutes, I’ll keep this shorter at 17 and a half mins.
Pmsl here, literally spat my coffee out :-)
Great vid as usual Vincent.
Vincent if I can offer you my humble opinion. I appreciate that some people will just want a quick video saying "Do this, then do that, and then you are done". However, for me, I really do appreciate the amount of time that you put into your videos and I enjoy the level of detail that you go into. As you correctly say, you are an expert at these things and also a professional and you like to explain the thinking behind your decisions and guidance rather than just tell us what to do and I believe this is really valuable, and such a good thing that you are willing to take time to share your expertise. So a genuine thank you from me. Keep up the amazing work my friend and keep doing what you do. 🙌
Please don't cut down the length of your videos for these plebs. Your videos are very informative and thorough, and I wouldn't want them any other way.
I just watched a bunch of your videos regarding Xbox Series X & LG CX 48... everything is all setup now and I can am thrilled to have a basic understanding of WHY i made those settings. Don’t shorten anything, I like the explanations & examples you make.
This is exactly why I subbed to you this morning; you actually explain stuff! Thank you!
This is why I follow you Vincent. It’s like you’re in my head and posting content just for me. I have an X1X and an LG CX and also black ops Cold War. I wish my girlfriend was as intuitive to my needs as you are. Ding 🔔

Hi Vincent, always love your videos. For those who complaints that some videos were too long, can I suggest the following. Keep doing as is with full explanations. What you can do to make it easier for those who will blindly rely on what you say, you could at the beginning or within the intro text below the video, just state at 2:35 Blah setting, 10:34 Blah blah setting and 17:30 blah blah blah setting or 1:23:45 recommendation of blah. Then people can just jump ahead and you have satisfied all. My guess. But I don't know if that impacts your video algorithm negatively.
Love your content Vincent. Keep doing what your doing. Learned a lot from your videos.
0:28-0:36
We don't care if the length is 16 or 19. Just give it to us.
Insert ding sound here.
That's what she said
DING!
Note on these screens you can use the console's magnifier to zoom in on the blocks and make sure they are absolutely the same brightness.
You're a legend, Vincent. Fantastic content.
V you are a legend✌️👍🙌
I like that you giving us the best settings for the upcoming video games on both consoles
Your talents is truly admired from your fan base
Keep up the excellent work
I appreciate your explanations. I want to know the details so I learn myself.
(21 is the limit of appendages that I can count with... hilarious!) Love it!
I watched the playstation video as well. I really liked the explanations. They were very clear, and helped me understand how/why you set things up the way you did. Was hoping you put a similar video for xbox, and here it is!
Perfect i put my lg in hig then i calibrated as you say! And the result is insane!!!!! WOW!!!!!!
All the way down and twice 14 steps up.. what a hero!!!
People just got used to subjective, non-scientific approach of tv reviews on TH-cam. So, again, don’t bother. We all appreciate your level of details and numbers-backed up in-depth reviews. It’s awesome to have a channel with objective reviews, where we can grab all possible information in one video. The level of details it’s what make this channel unique.
As a solution for this, I recommend you to start another channel, where you can post short guides 5-minutes long and have this channel with all in-depth coverage.
Thank you for your videos, we appreciate that you share your knowledge👍
lol from 19 to 17 minutes! Dude, you make your videos as long as you feel
I appreciate the work and explanation put into your videos. Feel free to make them as long as they need to be :)
He never finds 'the spot' as usual. Love this guy :)
I agree, explain the science. Anyone can make a video and be completely wrong.
Vince don’t worry about your length. *Ding
Viewers can play back videos at X1.25 or X1.5 speed if they want you to go faster. **Ding.
That way everyone can finish at their own convenience. ***Ding
What have we done... it's all coming out now. ****Ding
No my guy keep your videos with details love that about you keep up the good work
Yessss I’ve been trying to find this info. I love you Vincent!
Dont apologize some of us actually listen to your science and explanation. Thanks so much i keep playing with settings now i have a Serious X now I see you adjusting the correct way. Thanks for letting me know about the RGB range im going to full I love the deep blacks. Cheers
You guys have been very helpful with both of my next gen gaming consoles. Games look great on my Qled screen.
Amazing job again. I do not mind your videos being long. Take as much time as you need. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and helping us make the most out of our screens.
Saved. Gotta sit down with plenty of time and a cup of coffe later. This man is truly the goat. 🐐
I think you need a 1 hour long video on the LGCX AND XBOX SERIES X. And explain everything for best settings.
I own a PlayStation 5. Won't be picking up a Xbox Series X but I'm a nerd so I'm watching this. 🤓
I appreciate the effort and the length, but you can keep the others happy by just stating the values at the beginning then explaining why in the rest of the video. That way people can leave if they have what they need.
Keep doing what youre doing despite video length ❤
What I found out (testing with rocket league) . If you input your Max luminance above your displays capabilities (or hgig level). Dynamic tone mapping will actually show the highlights without much clipping but the tv will dim the rest of the scene making the highlights "appear" brighter in comparison. And switching back to hgig will then brighten the image back up also crushing the highlights.
So setting a value above your displays peak brightness will result in darker overall images when using Dynamic tone mapping.
C'mon Vincent. I subscribed the channel for your detailed explanation.
This is your signature, don't lose it.
Thanks for not dumbing down your videos!
Yessssssss! I asked for this yesterday and today there’s a video on codcw... don’t listen to these fools. Many of us want to know why and learn. Thank you! H8ers gonna hate take all the time you need brotha.
Can you make a mw2 recommended setting?
Your the man Vincent keep up your awesome work by watching this video I truly see the Series X graphical power just need to be calibrated correctly!👍🏿👍🏿
Thank you Vincent for your explanations (I'm three years late but the content is still very helpful). I prefer to understand the reasoning on what adjustments do versus just where to put them. Like the annoying equipment instructions that say "move the slider to the left to increase the value and to the right to decrease the value" without any clue as to what the h@$$ changing the values do.
Man this video is so informative. Following ur instructions were right on
The more we all know and learn the better we can understand, ignore the hate Vincent, to me, you ain’t ever put a non important or informative video out..end of.
You’re a legend n I thought I knew a lot, but as it’s your job it’s always best to learn from a pro, I’ve been a chef for 29+ years, so every day no matter how long I have been a chef is a learning day..
Keep on keeping on 🙏🏼
Is this only for OLED tv? Can i try this in my led tv?
Great video as always. Thanks!
I learned a lot! Thank you sir!
Just got Xbox , many thanks for helpful tips & explanations. Most useful channel on TH-cam
I really enjoy your long videos, for all the reasons you listed. I totally trust your advice for my Oled LG & series x
Glad to see Vince actually reads the comments this setting always confused me cause games looked better imo with HGIG off
Holy man buddy. You are pretty much the man. I love you guy. Been playing Cyberpunk on Series X for a week and have been so frustrated with the HDR it was so washed out. And was killing my immersion. I found myself constantly trying to adjust tv/in game HDR settings. Just followed your guide, and omg. What have I been been missing all these years! Even with the One X!!! I remember playing Red Dead and even Farcry all washed out. You sir, are a savior. Subscribed!
Cyberpunk doesn't use the information from the consoles hdr calibration so doing this wouldn't affect cyberpunk or any of the games you mentioned at all lmao. All those games have an in game hdr calibration to do.
@@rileymurphy3742 It made it look better, simple as that. You can think and say whatever you want. But bottom line, it made it look better and made my experience better. I’ll take my observations over some person that commented on my TH-cam comment. ; )
@@Bullshratnull lol enjoy being ignorant I guess. It literally didn't change anything since cyber punk uses its own in game settings which is a fact so you just imagined it. Why do you think he used cold war in this video ? It's because it actually uses the xbox HDR calibration info which is why he said this is a fix for cold war specifically and not just all HDR games. Very few games utilize this HDR calibration information yet, cold war is one of the only ones, you can tell if a game is using it by looking at its settings. If it has HDR calibration settings then it uses those and not the ones in the xbox settings. Enjoy living in a fantasy though clown.
@@rileymurphy3742 someone’s awful defensive…It’ll be okay little buddy. Just relax, take a breath. You’ll be okay. Take it somewhere else. You don’t have to worry about me…
If I could say one thing. I do love the length and depth of videos. But maybe having time stamps for each bit you're talking about?
You are amazing. Dont listen to trolls. Your informative videos are my go to. Subbed and liked. Keep up the amazing work. We all love you 😁
I love the dry humor in all hi svideos. '21 -- that is the limit of the number of appendages I can count with'
**ding**
Can you please ignore the haters. Keep the videos as long as you need them to be.
Excelent!!! , I was waiting this video 🥳 The time of the video it is not a problem at all, take the time you need to explain us.
Thank you very much for clarifying those things. Greetings from Brazil.
Vincent thanks again. after watching this video, a few others and recalibrating my tv based on your suggestions the picture quality is so much better. Much more detail and better colors when gaming. I have an LG nano cell and was surprised it hard clips at only 500 nits will be getting the LG C1 👍
i love the sarcasm and suttle jokes you thouw in the middle of your videos
I really like when you explained the stuff. Don't listen to those people. Its important to actually learn why we have to do x,y or z.
Getting my Xbox Series X today, can't wait to try this and play Modern Warfare in 120hz mode, on LG CX!
Does yours say 5.5hz instead of listing as FPS ?
@@wackswax8423 yeah, it does. I have heard it's just a bug around this channel. BLOPS Cold War is great in 120, Modern Warfare has it too, just not as smooth. There was a noticeable improvement in K/D ratios, unless up against PC players or higher skilled. Hard to go back to 60 fps in a competitive fps now.
Landon Wiebe so I have had no issues w my series x yet. Played my first WZ game in 4k120 (which really is closer to 4k/90) and I won lol! I have not done any crazy setting changes either on the lg cx. It works fine. Did notice when parachuting to ground the guys would kinda get that Stop motion look for a second like they weren’t just free falling but falling then catching for a moment if that makes sense. Haven’t tried Cold War yet since everyone was saying it bricked their console. Now starting to think a lot of idiots out there don’t know what they’re doing. Have you made major setting changes to your cx? If so do you find you’re annoyed in having to change settings for 4k120 then change back to 4k60 for the games that don’t support?
@@wackswax8423 one issue I've tweeted XboxSupport about is my controller freezes up sometimes multiple times a day, only in dashboard. I have to pull battery and hard power down the Series X. Yeah what you are experiencing is the wide variation in frames, VRR helps but not as well for the big fluctuations. Cold War has crashed to dashboard twice after the update, with Ray Tracing on, which scared me. Keep it off now, no problems with 120hz enabled. Actually sometimes 120 hz is disabled with it enabled on console, the fix is too hold down controller button like you want to turn it off, then you back out and 120hz will be enabled in Cold War graphics menu. I got my LG CX settings from Rtings and Vincent for the most part. Follow Rtings instructions for SDR using the ISF Dark Room settings, follow Vincents instructions for HDR. I also turned the white balance to 0, 8, 7 to get rid of that slight pink tint in whites, I got that from NinjicianAV.
Use the ISFExpert Dark Room you find on Rtings settings on the standard Game Mode as well. Use Cinema Mode when watching HDR Content. I leave the HDR specific settings default, except for any weird motion smoothing or noise reduction. All modes SDR and HDR I use the 0,8,7 white balance settings. A professional calibrator can be hired at a later time to get more in depth, because every panel varies a bit when going deeper.
I’ve looked everywhere and tried almost everything to make my cheap HDR10 TV look at least decent because it would always look really grayed out, washed out and dark no matter what I tried but this made my TV look way better not the best since it’s a cheaper TV but compared to everything I’ve tried this was the best thank you
Even once you manage to make it bigger, you still have to find the right spot.
Vincent always finds the perfect spot after 17 mins of verbal foreplay ;)
You're videos are very informative and knowledgeable. Yiu expanded my knowledge.
This is very much appreciated
Such a brilliantly informative video. I understand this a whole lot better now... Thank you very much.
Thank you Vincent my Series S coming Today! :)
Thanks for the video, I had set it up same apart from the first calibration near black pattern, I will re calibrate it based on your info, oh and I like your long detailed videos.
What if you set the 3rd screen to the same values a the second, but the grey boxes don't disappear? Is my TV brightness too low perhaps?
I appreciate the effort and explanation in your videos, so keep doing what you're doing in my opinion. If people want to the relevant parts faster, maybe the vids could be time stamped in the description for them?
I'm still confused about HGIG. Isn't that only supposed to be used for HGIG compatible games, ie which there are 3 of at the moment?
Yeah its confusing, you would hope this calibration screens helps all hdr games but I dont know
Hdr is broken its pants complicated all the dicks taht hail for it are blind to see it hdr is right now is a gimmick 2030 may start seeing hdr being less of a gimmick amd more of oh yea finally hopefully full dynamic range happens
pls make a video with
....sonyxh90 vs samsung q70t/q80t
Thanks a lot for Your fantastic videos. I got such a good picture now, because of Your explanations.
Thanks for the video, also thank you for explaining everything!
Keep the explanations coming Vince. People with shorter attention spans can go kick rocks.
Thank you so much for this useful video! Very educational. Nothing beats the creators intent.
Great video man very helpful
19 min is too long. I hear you
We will make this shorter....16 minutes lmao.
I LOVE the detail man. I'm analytical and that's why I now follow
Keep up the good work! I like the explanations!
Another great video. Thanks Vincent.
Thank you for this Vincent, I knew something was off but never realised it was the HDR Calibration causing it.
Does anyone else’s HDR calibration app seem to reset after a reboot? If I load the app following a reboot the levels have reset, but not sure if it only happened because I reopened it, or whether it’s just not saving then correctly.
Yes! It's really annoying me.
Why does the tool say to use one above pure black on the first screen? You say pure black, the tool says one above?
excellent well done. your expertise is appreciated. so is your tact with time and appendage usage.
I found a way to make it bigger...ding!
You’re the man dude.
Fantastic, I have been waiting for this after the PS5 version. :)
What should I put my black level at
Very useful as always Vincent. Any chance you could provide optimal settings within Destiny 2? I just got an HDR1000 monitor and set everything on the console as you did. D2 has its own in-game HDR settings that slightly confuse using verbiage such as "adjust until X image is barely visible", but when I do that the game feels so dark I can't see anything, so I'm thinking my interpretation of "barely" is not what they intend. Would be nice to have your expert opinion.
So, do in-game HDR calibration options always override the internal Xbox HDR calibration settings? Or for they compliment each other? Or is it unique to individual games?
As GamingTech says.. if there's an in-game HDR calibration (as opposed to system level like this or PS4/PS5's calibration), then the in-game is prioritized. It would be stupid to apply it twice.
So for the Minimum Luminance I should ignore the instructions of making it so I can barely make out the checkerboard patterns and simply make it all black. Like all the way?
Keep up the good work if you do longer videos just add time stamps and the ppl can get there quick and us others who love your tech knowledge can hang out and listen
The big question i have: will we have to change these settings on some game by game basis? Or is this a good recommendation for the console in general?
