Whoa! Thanks for the tutorial. Mevo looks great! Auto director is so good too. Was wondering if these could be used when working alone. And I see that the answer is yes!

Please...only ONE question: On a stage the light changes all the time. How should I handle the HDR-option (in "Video-Presets") TIA... and I like your explanations. They helped me a lot as a newbie :)
you probably want to put the exposure in manual mode. Find a good exposure at "normal" lighting, then as it gets darker, well, the scene is supposed to be darker, so you don't want the cameras overexposing that. Probably having HDR on is a good idea here but you'll have to test it. If the darker scenes are so dark that the camera doesn't pick it up, then you'll need to ride the exposure during the show, but that's going to be hard to do on multiple cameras.
I really enjoyed your video. Before I invest in this I am wondering if I go facebook live am I also able to save the video in the highest quality to later post on TH-cam. I haven’t made videos in a year because Facebook no longer made it possible to save a video in high quality on my phone after I went live - which meant when I uploaded the video to TH-cam it was crappy quality and people couldn’t see well what I was doing (I do nails so details are important). I really like the idea of them seeing the nails from the top and the side and then a shot of me. Can you tell me if this is possible? The absolute best would be to Facebook live and TH-cam live at the same time but if I can just TH-cam live then have a perfect saved high quality video to upload to TH-cam I could get back to making videos. Thanks for your help!
You can! The Mevo is a pretty wide angle camera but if you integrate a phone using the Mevo Pro system then you could get a good close-up shot. th-cam.com/video/MvHHF1ltl3U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=I6OV20QL6u0tc7Pe
@@photojoseph ok so I can still use my camera over the table like I always have and then add the wide shots? That sounds good. Do you have a video on how that all works with streaming to everything at once? Most of the time I’m starting videos on the fly during an appointment so I need to have the cameras all mounted and just add my phone, turn them on and start without it taking much time. What about adding an intro? None of my videos have ever had one and I thought a 5 seconds into might be an awesome stay for people that watch the videos later?
This was a great video. I am looking at purchasing multiple mevo start cameras. I don't want to live stream as yet can I record directly to each camera and separately to my ipad for editing later. Thanks for all the information you provide in your videos. Richard
A great improvement for the autodirector would be that it could switch scenes cameras randomly or with the activation of a certain microphone... great video, thank you very much
Microphone, yes. Totally agree; it could go with the one that has the most volume. I’ve already asked about this. Random; I think it’s random now, isn’t it? I never stared at them to see if there’s a pattern but I thought it was random.
Great video @photojoseph thank you! I'm looking at the MEVO system for my streaming events, but... can I link it as a "camera" to my manycam, OBS or streamyard software? I need to go live with the same setting on a private service and streaming from that source, 'cause I need to show also some guest from abroad :) Coud I put my bet on the MEVO system also for doing that service? All the best! Mario
Hey Mario. The answer is… sort of. The cameras do NOT natively connect over HDMI, so that’s out. You can enable webcam mode, and connect over USB, but I’m not sure how many you can connect at once. Then there’s NDI mode, which if you have a way to bring NDI into your computer (I believe OBS can do it), then that would work. But IIRC to use NDI you also need the Ethernet adapter for each camera. The cool thing there is that you can power the camera over POE+ so if you have a POE+ switch, then it’s just a single cable from the switch to each camera.
How do I use all 3 cams using RESTREAM / STREAM YARD. Is this where WEBCAM MODE will be used? Currently running a livestream podcast with 1 first gen MEVO cam using WEBCAM MODE using in box usb cord. Can these 3 new gen cams be connected at once, so I can have multiple angles?
I’m actually not sure if you can connect multiple as webcams. Even if possible it could saturate your usb bus quickly. If you want multicam live stream to multiple locations check out their new service Mevo Pro. th-cam.com/video/MvHHF1ltl3U/w-d-xo.html
Cool setup. Can each camera have different filters applied independently and simultaneously? For example, one camera set to sepia, one to vivid, and another to black and white?
hi! very nice review. I have couple of questions, so If you can answer please? 1. how many meters 3 cameras should be separated between each other (in meters) ? 2. how they are working in lower lighting non-controlled spaces ex. church? 3. have you test them on connection 4G/5G LTE signal ? 4. can I connect 4 ili 5 cameras at once or 3 is optimal for streaming? What is max. cameras that you can connect? Many thanks in advance! :)
I’ve answered all of those questions in other videos; please check out more of my Mevo vids. And there’s no minimum or maximum distance between cameras. That’s up to you.
@@photojoseph can you please share a link on specific videos? On Mevo specs there is 100ft maximum distance. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to connect, err?
@@suncokreta here’s my playlist Mevo by PhotoJoseph th-cam.com/play/PLRe8DcOhgsloteXJmoneEjMgqfnT9GXX3.html - that range is probably about a direct to phone connection. On wifi it’s only limited to your wifi setup which can extend as far as you want. Cameras can also be connected via Ethernet. For pure cellular then it’ll very depending on your phone model and other wireless interference. I’d go by their guidelines if that’s the case.
This looks amazing. This would be amazing for those with disabilities wanting to be content creators needing something simple to use and not having to trample over wires. The one thing I didn't see is the ability for example to be able to record a computer screen and switch back to the camera. I'm assuming you would use NDI for that? And something like OBS would work for that
Yes if the mevo NDI is working in sync with other cams wired cams in a more professionel they are usefull. I would like to se a test done with wired cams and a few mevo NDI cams.
there's no way to bring a computer screen into the Mevo live system however yes via NDI you could bring the cameras into another system like OBS and add the computer there.
Just bought them and they are impressive. Thanks for the walkthrough. I am wondering if streaming in 720p would "hide" the digital zoom low resolution.
Thank you for the video. Can we use MEVO on Windows 10? My goal is to record the Multicam Mix to a computer. In case internet is unstable, I have the mix in a computer.
The Program is recorded in the mobile device, or you could run the cameras in NDI mode and use an app that reads NDI feeds in the computer. The Mevo software however does not run on Windows.
If i record on 3 cameras.. When I go back to edit will I be able to zoom in on certain areas of the picture or crop.. Also will I be able to add overlays??
I have a question and can't find an answer anywhere. Here goes: I've connected three Mevo's to the app and all is well. During setup, I set it up to one of my WiFi networks. However, I cannot figure out how to change the WiFi to a different network. Any advice? I really don't want to have to reformat the cameras and have to re-upload the firmware just to switch WiFi networks. Please help!
I think I ran into this once, and IIRC, there is no "forget" option. I think what you can do is temporarily turn off the other wifi so the Mevo can't find it, then it'll prompt you for a new one. Or I suppose you could change the password on the original one but turning it off sounds easier. I don't think there's a better solution however you should contact their tech support before you do anything drastic. Although, resetting the cameras really isn't that big of a deal, but yes, this should be easy to do.
@@photojoseph Thank you. It's odd they don't have a simple setting to change WiFi networks. Hopefully you can add this bug to one of your future reviews and possibly the factory will see it.
Thanks so much this is soso amazingly helpful - massively appreciate it! 2 questions: 1) Do you know a good way of auto-switching between cameras based on the audio source i.e if one camera picks up higher audio vs another is there a way the stream can switch between them automatically or does this have to be done in manual postproduction? 2) What's the best way of connecting or using a few podcast XLR mics with a multi-cam setup?
I’m interested in knowing the best way to use this set up in collaboration with my Rodecaster podcast setup. I’ve been wanting to record a few of my interviews with myself and 2-3 guest. Thanks!!!!
Nice ! Is it possible with these tools to remotely trigger a photo capture for each camera and then save each image captured from each camera in a folder? Thanks
Question. Not sure if asked or answered already. With the multi cameras, I was given 2 of the 3. Will they still work?? As I've been having trouble at times connecting both for livestreaming. Thanks in advance
Yes, you can use any number of cameras. If you’re having troubles connecting multiple devices then make sure they all have the latest firmware and that they’re all connecting to the same network. If you got these used it’s probably best to reset them. Connect one and find the settings in the software.
Awesome video as always. Just wondering how many Mevo can you connect to the multicam app? I have a need to connect to maybe 5 for an upcoming lecture. What format does the Mevo save to disc? I usually edit in BM DaVinci Resolve.
You can only do three, sorry. The app says “… currently supports up to 3 cameras…” so maybe more in the future? The saved file is an MP4, I believe. I edited it into Resolve no problem for this project.

@@photojoseph correct i bought 2sets with 3pack and it shows all 6 cams but you can only connect 3 of them.
Has anyone used these to live stream a wedding yet? Would love to know how that went. Thinking of going with my Gopros but then I need to get wireless HDMI transmitters and media mods, which would be a lot more than just going with this. But I'm worried about the footage quality.
Great overview Joseph! Is it possible to add other destinations to upload the stream to other than youtube, facebook, vimeo, etc...? I'd like to stream from these cameras directly to panopto if at all possible. Thanks!
Is it possible to plug a mic into one camera and have that mic always be the audio source, even when switched to a different camera for video...just like you can on an ATEM?
hahaha in winter, no less… it was COLD out there! The week before we had over a foot of snow on the deck, and I wanted to film then, but didn't manage to get it done. D'oh!!
This is something I can’t find the answer to… is there a way to get the footage from the SD cards and bring in the cuts as markers to edit a multi cam in FCPX? Like the cuts are marked and synced on the footage and can be changed in a video editor afterwards? I couldn’t find the answer anywhere! 👍🏼
No. What you’re talking about is something that the ATEM Mini and Extreme ISO models support. Thats not in the Mevo cameras but it could be doable. I’d email their support asking for the feature. The more that ask, the better!
@photojoseph does it remember live stream on powerup or does it need alwyas start live stream? Billiards matches we need to just powerup cam and it should start streaming to twitch.
Hello and thank you for this fantastic and helpful video. I have a question. I notice I can not do a presentation slide with pdf file like I can with single Mevo app. Is this option available?
nice tuto. but you know the sensor size ? for example using on low light ambient ? and the latence in wifi or ethernet 10/100 ? in milliseconde. have you this informations ? it is possible use 3 cameras with ethernet usb-c ->rj45 adaptor, and plus adaptor rj45->hdmi to ATEM MINI PRO hdmi. thanks
A question I haven't found out is if you can have 8 mevo cameras and have them automatically livestream to their own RTMP to TH-cam if you have 8 different channels and your bandwidth would support it? I would have POE setup to each device and trying to have 8 static cameras pointed on 8 wrestling mats and like to do this without having to have 8 laptops connected as well.
You definitely can. First, no computers needed. All setup is done on a phone or tablet. Second, you don’t even need a phone for each one, as you can switch which camera you’re controlling. Just get each one started and switch to another camera. Finally at 10:19 when I show what the physical button can do - it can start a stream. So as long as the camera is preconfigured you could start each stream with the push of a button.
@@photojoseph Thank you! I thought you could only manage up to three mevo cameras from the app. Or is that something I am misunderstanding? I only need to configure them to stream, do not need to use the app as a switcher, so I am guessing I can have as many Mevo devices tied to an iOS device, but can only use the mevo switcher of up to 3 cameras at once? Just want to make sure I understand as this solution will be fantastic for many of our large events that have mini events that run simultaneously.
@@shaunjeffers4908 you can only do three on multicam at once. Hmm let me find out if there’s a limit to how many you can switch between (and you’d be using the regular app, not the multicam app)
@@photojoseph thank you! I don’t need to do anything but set them up with the manual RTMP stream key and location on TH-cam and they will have their own stream keys. @@shaunjeffers4908 Confirmed - you can have unlimited cameras on the main Mevo app! If you do decide to buy, the cameras in the 3-pack are identical to the singles. I'd get three three-packs and have one extra/back-up camera. Enjoy! geni.us/MevoMulticam

@PhotoJoseph, thank you for your Setup guide TH-cam video. I have reviewed multiple TH-cam videos using OBS and no one has address directly "Can you do my camera source shots in one scene using OBS." I am dj, and I want to know does the Mevo do multiple camera shots (not switch camera to camera) in on scene in OBS. If yes, are the Mevo cameras named the same in your computer, or how are they allocated by name or sources?
I have 2 Mevo Starts and am using the multicam app. I want to connect one camera to my sound board/mixer in church. So firstly, can I use a TRS cable to two male ends to connect to my board's audio out (red and white)? Secondly, how do I set it up so that the sound from the sound board is the only sound source, even when I switch cameras? If I switch cameras on my app, will the sound cony come from the camera showing video? Thanks
Have you tried this out, Reverend? I think you’ll dubs these answers are pretty prominent. You can choose which audio you want as I showed in the video, and the cabling you need will depend on your sound board but there are cables for basically anything to 3.5mm.
Hi Joseph. Hope you can help by answering a question. I have the 3pack and installed multicam app. I don't plan to stream and just want to record the final output to my notepad. Everything is good EXCEPT that the recorded file is saving to my notepad INTERNAL storage. I want to save it to the SD card in my notepad. I can't find any way to change the app settings to point to the SD card!! (Yes, my notepad shows the SD card in my Files directory). Help Please!!
I have no idea mate… I don’t use notepads and that sounds like an OS issue. But maybe Mevo app needs access to it? Sounds like a question for Mevo tech support.
Because this wasn’t an opinion piece, but an educational one :-) I think these cameras are great for a particular user. They are the easiest to set up and stream from anywhere at any time, for sure. ESPECIALLY for multicam. Are they the best quality? Certainly not. But for $1,000 doing a three camera live stream where the only other thing you need is your phone; that’s awesome. Other systems, that thousand bucks will just get you the switcher, no cameras. So to answer your question - I 100% recommend them if your needs fall into what it provides. There’s nothing else like it out there!
Can we stream live each individual cameras to a different youtube account simultaneously (as separate live streams), through one devices (Ipad where i can see all the mevo camera's are listed)?
I've gotten so much from your videos! But. Chapter 5 you do not show how to use it as wired but you have it labeled wired or wireless. How can this be used wired. Thank you in advance>
@@renewustretch I don’t know what an M1MM is however start with an app like zoom that is just looking for a webcam. You need to configure the Mevo webcam app and link a camera. I show that in the video.
I had purchased some of these mevo cameraas after watching your videos and a few others. But the app is driving me crazy!! Its constantly dropping the connection, which is on fios and works perfect for all other devices in the house. Is there a different app I can try to use with these cameras? my last live was 2 hours and it went to black over a dozen times dropping my stream - which you know will kill my channel and people wanting to watch videos in the future. for such expensive cameras, im shocked it just can't seem to stay connected.
So you’re having connection problems to the internet, or to the cameras? Sounds like the former. That’s not the cameras. The cameras connect to your iPad (or whatever device you’re running the software on), and that iPad connects to your WiFi. Live streaming (uploading a constant stream) is completely different than connecting to services like Netflix (downloading which can easily correct for minor interruptions). I’d look for problems with the iPad, the WiFi router, the modem or the internet provider. Lots to troubleshoot. I’d start with speed tests to ensure your upload speed is what you expect, and consider adding an Ethernet adapter to your iPads so you’re on a wired connection instead of wireless. Google “fix live streaming interruptions” for some specific troubleshoot ideas. And just to be certain, it can’t hurt to make sure your iPad is up to date and even delete/reinstall the Mevo app. Good luck!
zoom isn’t designed for fast switching multicam. You’d be better off using an ATEM and regular cameras, but if you wanted to use Mevo, then run them in MDI mode and use software like ecamm to do the switching and pass that to zoom as a virtual camera.
Hi, if i want to enable the 3 cameras for NDI, i have to do it in the old app one camera at the time?, if i disconnect the first one to activate the 2nd one, the setting will remain in the 1st? Thank you!
Great tutorial! Very nice work, thank you. I used to own the first generation Mevo and I remember the app allowed you to choose multiple angles on 1 cam that it will alternate through on Auto-Mode. I would be using this for my live band performances and I don’t have someone controlling the shots. However, I was under the impression that having the 3 cam pack, that the Auto-Director mode would not just switch between all cameras, but also through individually selected angles on each camera, the way it does on the Mevo app vs the multi cam app. From what I can tell so far, it seems that is not possible. On auto mode it only switches from camera to camera but not multiple angles previously selected on each camera like the Mevo app. Is this correct? Again, thanks for the tutorial, I love it. Hopefully I don’t have to return my 3 cameras lol
Correct - the ability to store multiple angles does not exist in the Multicam app. You can crop/zoom a camera and it'll stay there, but the Auto Director goes between cameras only.
@@photojoseph thank you for the quick reply. In my opinion Mevo really missed a great opportunity here. It may be something they can address through app updates, but it seems to me that if one app already does this for one camera, why make an app for the same exact type of camera but that is able to control 3 without the ability to include multiple angles. Definitely leaning towards returning my purchase, which is unfortunate. I already had multiple angles in a sense with one camera, why pay 3 times the amount for less camera shots in auto mode? I guess it works for the user that has someone appointed to choosing each shot, but for the auto-mode users it’s not helping as much as it could w the capability of these cameras.
In essence, you would have 3 cameras alternating between up to 27 different shots! Now that would be impressive and they would take over the market. Lol Very disappointed actually, because I thought that was how it would function before I made the purchase. Figured it was based on the original app’s functionality.
@@bgliveshow I totally understand. Before you do the return, please reach out to Mevo directly. Tell them what you’re looking for and maybe they will tell you that it’s coming soon!

They just sent me instructions to open ports on my network. I have the regular Mevo app and it works fine. No phone support is available at the moment.
That’s odd, especially since it works from the regular app. Have you tried installing on a different device, or streaming from another location, or connecting over cellular? Just to narrow down the issue.
no… the camera can do up to 1080p depending on the settings, as I outlined in this video (although you're using a different camera so the settings may be different; I don't recall as I haven't looked at that camera in years). You asked how to get a "perfect crisp 1080p picture" and I responded that you need lots of light. Light doesn't dictation resolution but it certainly dictates quality. That goes for any and every single camera on the planet. These cameras have small sensors, and your older Mevo Plus has an even smaller one. They need a lot of light to look good. This is a universal truth. If you want a good image, add light to your scene.

I need to go live with the same setting on a private service and streaming from that source, 'cause I need to show also some guest from abroad :)
Coud I put my bet on the MEVO system also for doing that service?
Thanks for this! I'll be operating them for a friend's TedX talk shortly. :D
Awesome!
Fantastic
Thank you! Cheers!
Cool setup. Can each camera have different filters applied independently and simultaneously? For example, one camera set to sepia, one to vivid, and another to black and white?
Yes they are independent
hi! very nice review.
@@suncokreta here’s my playlist Mevo by PhotoJoseph
th-cam.com/play/PLRe8DcOhgsloteXJmoneEjMgqfnT9GXX3.html - that range is probably about a direct to phone connection.
Thanks, do you know how many mevo wireless cameras can I connect wireless to my OBS?
Via NDI? It’s bandwidth and CPU dependent, so, no.
Just bought them and they are impressive. Thanks for the walkthrough. I am wondering if streaming in 720p would "hide" the digital zoom low resolution.
It definitely would!
Wonderful video. Does the mevo switcher is free ???
2 questions:
1) Do you know a good way of auto-switching between cameras based on the audio source i.e if one camera picks up higher audio vs another is there a way the stream can switch between them automatically or does this have to be done in manual postproduction?
2) What's the best way of connecting or using a few podcast XLR mics with a multi-cam setup?
1. Not possible, sorry
2. Mevo Pro th-cam.com/video/MvHHF1ltl3U/w-d-xo.html
@@photojoseph ok thanks - is there a way to just plugging in the xlr mics into the back of the mevo if I get the right cable?
I’m interested in knowing the best way to use this set up in collaboration with my Rodecaster podcast setup. I’ve been wanting to record a few of my interviews with myself and 2-3 guest. Thanks!!!!
Send a mix from the rodecaster into one of the cameras; that’s it!
Why the PoE Adapter doesn’t fit in the case together with the cam🙄😫
can I crop and zoom (tap setting while in multi cam) and tap the screens on individual cameras to get different angles?
Nice ! Is it possible with these tools to remotely trigger a photo capture for each camera and then save each image captured from each camera in a folder? Thanks
I don’t think there’s a still photo function? Doesn’t sound familiar.
@@photojoseph Thank you.
@ ah interesting. Can you easily remove one and add another, while streaming?
Has anyone used these to live stream a wedding yet? Would love to know how that went. Thinking of going with my Gopros but then I need to get wireless HDMI transmitters and media mods, which would be a lot more than just going with this. But I'm worried about the footage quality.
Great overview Joseph! Is it possible to add other destinations to upload the stream to other than youtube, facebook, vimeo, etc...? I'd like to stream from these cameras directly to panopto if at all possible. Thanks!
Loved the video. Is there anyway you can have 6 cams on 1 device or you need 2 separate devices?
Stay tuned… I’ll be answering that question in a few weeks!
Great video Joseph! Can you please tell me if I need an ethernet adaptor for all 3 cameras or just one for the main camera?
You need one for each camera that you want on Ethernet.
Is it possible to plug a mic into one camera and have that mic always be the audio source, even when switched to a different camera for video...just like you can on an ATEM?
Yes!

Once cameras are configured in app, can that then be pulled into OBS?
Not that I’m aware of as they need to be pulled into the app. However check their website for updates. It’s been a few years since I used them.
Great video Photo Joseph. I have a question, can I pair 2 separate mevo cameras or I must purchase the 3 pack?
Either way. The three pack is just three single cameras.
Yeah, if you set it up in advance, once powered, one press of the main button will start streaming to whatever you’ve set.

I was hoping the limitation is just if you want to use 3 Mevo cameras within the switcher app to change sources for one stream, but that wasn’t clear to me everywhere I have researched.

I am dj, and I want to know does the Mevo do multiple camera shots (not switch camera to camera) in on scene in OBS.
Nicely done, thank you. Now, do you recommend these cameras not - you really didn't give an opinion?
No, you’d need a device for each camera to do that.
I've gotten so much from your videos! But. Chapter 5 you do not show how to use it as wired but you have it labeled wired or wireless. How can this be used wired. Thank you in advance>
That just means a USB cable from the camera to the computer; sorry for leaving that out!

Good luck!
Is there a way to monetize a 24hr streaming of a herpetarium, changing for each camera stream.
Can I also use the camera on my iPhone and iPad in the software?
With Mevo Pro, yes: th-cam.com/video/MvHHF1ltl3U/w-d-xo.html
Is it possible to setup multiple cameras with different angles while on a zoom call?
Can you live stream with multiple Mevo cameras operating on your Macbook Pro?
As of making this video, only one Mevo could act as a webcam at a time. I don’t know if that’s changed or not.
How do you get the pictures quality so clear? I have the older model of the Mevo plus and I cannot get the picture quality clearer even in 1080 P.
Dude… we already had this conversation.
I have a question. I teach cooking classes over zoom is it possible to have the 3 cameras on via zoom?
zoom isn’t designed for fast switching multicam.
Thank you!
That is correct.

Hi, can a GoPro camera be added to the Mevo multicam app?
Nope
I have the older Mevo Plus model 12GGL and I cannot seem to get a perfect crisp 1080P picture. Can you help me at all?
more light? It's a small sensor, so light is everything.
So in bright light is the only way to get 1080p with my camera?
no… the camera can do up to 1080p depending on the settings, as I outlined in this video (although you're using a different camera so the settings may be different; I don't recall as I haven't looked at that camera in years).
Actually I have a Canon Vixia HFG10 video camera and it can be almost dark in a room and it looks like it is shooting is full bright light.
That’s a $1700 camera designed for low light. Dude. C’mon.
