If I was on the floor working like you lads do, that would be the way I would do it, make as much room as possible might take you a little extra time but in the long run makes it easier... More room less mistakes.... Smashing it either way lads 💪💪🤙🤙🤙
I did a engine on our lasses fiesta st150 on the drive removed the bonnet and lights (for access to wiring and hoses) and dropped the box and lifted the engine out through the top clutch kit and flywheel on at same time and all back in and plumbed back up on my own except 10/15mins whilst lining the box up 4.5hours in total ohh and obviously clutch bleeding got her to assist on bleeding the clutch. All done in middle of winter during lockdown. Not a bad days work, She hydrolocked the engine by going through some floodwater worked out cheaper to put in a brand new second hand engine £450 with good compression across all four
I done one last week, just removed the bonnet and lifted it out with the gearbox and shafts still in place. Also unbolted the aircon compressor to save degassing, one man and a hoist done in a day.
Love to hear that man. Definitely possible to get it done in a day by a person but we needed to get it done fast as we had to get the engine from somewhere as well. People have their own ways of removing engines from a car- love to see that yours is different to ours
Great job, far better with replacement engine an over heated engine may need head and block skimmed, replacement crank , bearings and pistons etc. If you had known the replacement engine went well then yes may have been better to replace timing belt, clutch and water pump before fitting but as you had no way to tell then fitting and testing was the right move, well done and again you make a difficult job look easy.
If it wasn't done when the engine was out ( easily the fastest and cheapest time to do it) let's be honest it's not going to be done until it slips or snaps.
I would have strongly recommended to have the timing belt and water pump changed before engine was put back in but I guess it comes down to what the customer can afford. Good job well done as usual
100% best to replace engine as it’s certainly damaged the main bearings, end bearings, etc and not just top end damage. I hope that lady has learned to stop immediately the temperature gauge goes up, however inconvenient you should always stop the moment it’s safe to do so. It was quite possibly just a cheap radiator hose.
I do them as mobile mechanic but only on a case by case basis. I do them exactly how you are when i can. Sometimes i cant but most of them can come out how you did it.
maye im not sure if it can be done , but i would have left the aircon pipes connected to the aircon pump , and unbolted the pump from the engne , just saves on regas
How many times to replace the engine, 🤔 I get it it's cheaper for you to replace it, where are you based? I know your mobile do you cover Tamworth area?
The belt was actually in good condition. Only done 40k this engine and the smaller belt looked like it was renewed quite recently. I still advised them to replace it sooner rather than later
honestly.. for a 2010.... surly its cheaper to scrap it and get another car. especially adding up any money thats already gone into it. well mayvbe not cheaper.. but more worth while
The old engine was done. Every piece of plastic was melted plus with coolant coming out of the ports the head gasket was gone so the block and head would have needed refacing as they were probably warped so total stripdown of the engine.
why you didn't suggested your customer to change timing belt while engine is out? for you it would take max 30min and extra £100 for customer, than now it will be much more
I did but the aim at the moment is to avoid extra cost. By looking at the Cambelt on the donor engine, it looked well. I still told them to replace it sooner than later though as history is unknown. No my decision pal, it’s the person who holds the money
why oh why don't they just stop when the temperature rises? people really need educating, which is what you will be doing when you give her the bill.....🤣
Engine would need total rebuild the list is endless if it could be rebuilt may find the head is cracked to be honest its a scrapper when u showed the other items that needed doing
And no it is NOT economical to rebuild that engine. As a legitimate business, i would not want to rebuild it and take on the liability. I have done that only once, and regretted it ever since. From now on, swap only no rebuilds.
Every time I have tried to buy a second hand engine they have always done around 40000 miles according to the breaker. Go figure. Ask for a video walk around prior to removal , guess what, too busy. go figure.
I am happy to see you working under a rain/sun canopy, much more comfortable and healthy.
If I was on the floor working like you lads do, that would be the way I would do it, make as much room as possible might take you a little extra time but in the long run makes it easier... More room less mistakes.... Smashing it either way lads 💪💪🤙🤙🤙
Cheers pal! Appreciate it 💪🏽
Man like baz 🤙🏾
Defo agreed but I wouldn't do an engine replacement mobile I'd prefer to do it in a garage lol
Like I tell my students, it doesnt mean the job gets done quicker the less ancilliaries you take off, more room is better.Great job👍
Cracking job lads, hopefully the owner starts to take better care or observation of wear and tear especially the discs and pads
I hope so too! Definitely needs to be booked sooner rather than later

Great job lads.
Cambelt when engine was out could have saved time.
But the cost would increase 😢
If it was my choice, I’d do it, but I don’t hold the money 🥲
@themarvelousvlog Happy customer is all that matters buddy 🙂
They who pay get to say.
@@themarvelousvlogI would’ve done it on the low and charged a bit extra for it too
When you’ve got a ramp it’s easy to say aw don’t take the front off but when your on the ground taking the front off is the easiest
The best way to pull and engine, is the way that works. Nothing else really matters.

I agree, take the front off, i've done it with the front still on on a 2006 Fiesta, but taking the front off it's a lot easier than leaving it on
Since day 1, front off is my favourite. Less hassle and safer in my opinion
That title and thumbnail combo is hilarious! Love the work lads, keep it up
Hopefully it’s enough to catch your attention 😂
Replacing the engine is the way to go by far, immagine trying to rebuild that mess..i doubt it would be possible...
I would have done it the way you did if I were a mobile technician ,well done

I'd do it this way.. can see what you're doing. Good job
Awesome turnaround! Could you have done the cambelt change while the engine was out?
No cam belt just needed wd40 to hide the squeak
100% could’ve mate but it would then cost the customer extra dosh- which obviously isn’t the goal of this. He did say he will get it done though
@@themarvelousvlogcan you do jobs in West Bromwich area

Nice job guys.
Thanks!

It would’ve been difficult as it will be on the way
Hi.
I bought a car few days ago mercedes with 59000 original milage diesel...q is do I have to change the timing belt.??
Has it got a cam chain
Any idea why the engine overheated in the first place?
great job lads, did your engine hoist come with the handles? has mine hasnt got none.
It did. I’m not sure if its been modified or not as it was bought second-hand
Love to see it!!!
🙌🏽
Bolt cutters 😂and a hihab 😂😂🔥🔥
😂😂😂
hi lads great videos do you travel to do work say sheffield south yorks
Too far for us unfortunately. We are planning to do a tour soon so keep an eye out!
My question is did you de gas the air con before removing the ac compressor to swap it over I never saw the machine come out😂👀🤫
I asked them to get the AC man out before getting the job done 👍
Hi Marvelous
Can I ask (if you dont mind) how much you charged for this & what was the profit? Thanks
I cant remember unfortunately. Definitely around the £1000 mark (not profit)
@@themarvelousvlog great work 👏 👍
Good luck mate you do narf no alot for a forteen year old
Title of the video . Do not ignore red lights on the instrument cluster ..😢
I think a match would’ve been the best option then a new car
There's a good chance both the block and head would have warped given how hot that got, so it's likely scap.
How many times to replace the engine, 🤔 I get it it's cheaper for you to replace it, where are you based? I know your mobile do you cover Tamworth area?
Was aircon degassed
A job well done that guys, the owner of the car needs get you back and sort the brakes out next
Brakes and Cambelt for sure
I would have fitted a new timing belt kit before fitting the engine
Same… unfortunately I don’t hold the money
would a new cam kit not have been wise and easier to fit while this no history engine was still out? bit risky!
For the sake of some basic maintenance, checks coolants, oils, etc should be included in the driving test.
This all could've been avoided.
It is. The manufacturer also fitted idiot lights to it... IT'S NOT COMPLICATED!
If you don’t mind me asking, what I’d you end up charging out on this job? Always been question for me, some people say couple grand others say 5k+ 😂
Well, this was mates rates so they ended up paying cheaper than usual but yes, around that mark you mentioned :)
New t belt ?
Wd40 on the belt to stop noise
The belt was actually in good condition. Only done 40k this engine and the smaller belt looked like it was renewed quite recently. I still advised them to replace it sooner rather than later
Penny wise pound foolish 😉

Volkswagen=Seat=Skoda=Audi=Porsche same stuff, I've been in the same situation, but I've stopped on the highway.
Don’t forget Bugatti and Cupra 😂
taking the front end off to change an engine is a no brainer for me,
How is that even MOT,d ?
Its only had MOT in August as well 😂
Wow
Definitely replace 😂
Lol the title had me gassed sounds like some dodgy porn movie 😂😂

Great engine swap but that car needs a shed load of work to the brakes. Being a Polo parts shouldn't be too expensive.

Makes a change from driving with no oil pressure.

Might as well disconnect the instrument cluster if she's gonna ignore the gauges and carry on driving regardless. 🤦 Women drivers for ya!
She was hoping to make it Home 😅
