Moose's over the top delivery is so deceptive, I love it

One of the best in the game during his time. This guy pitched in a league with Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, and Pedro Martinez. He was as consistent a winner as any of those guys. A quiet ace.

HOF. I loved Mussina as a kid. Always reliable I can remember times when the Yankees were down in a series, he always got them back on track. When they debated him as a HOF, I knew right away he was a HOF.

He lost so many games this season that should have been wins. Case in point is Clemens won 20 with a higher ERA. Mussina win totals are deceptive.
This year he was 2nd in ERA in AL. Any other year with his low walks, strikeouts and high innings pitched, he would have won 21 games.
Its crazy how Baseball is because he had other high ERA years and won almost same amount of games.
People also forget because of the Jeter flip against Oakland, that its Mussina who set them back. On the road in Oakland elimination game and was dominant.
This year he lost so many 3-2/2-1 ballgames. Even this highlight he almost lost.

Yeah Clemens got twice as many runs of support that year. The Yankees scored 3+ runs in 27 of Clemens 33 starts. Where they scored 2 runs or fewer in 15 of Mussina's 33 starts. Just luck of the draw. Mussina was the best starting pitcher in the AL that year.

It was annoying that the Yankees couldn't hit Miguel Batista in this game. Moose deserved the 'W.'

The title and description make it sound like a dominant performance, but he gave up 2 solo shots in the 5th and Byung-hyun Kim was just 1 out away from giving Mussina the loss.

So 2 runs over 8 innings both being solo shots so 2 mistake pitches really and that isn’t dominant?!? I give up 🤦‍♂️

Who didn't give up a homer in Yankee Stadium? It was a bandbox like the current one. Mussina made two mistakes. Aside from that, he was great.

So giving up just 2 runs in 8 innings isn't dominant?
Do you know Verlander led the league in homers given up in 2019? I wonder who won the AL Cy Young that year...
