  • This is a short video describing and showing the issue I was having with my Mustang's Shaker 500 stereo system. Sorry about the mic sound... wearing gloves were obviously causing an issue with that.
The problem: Only one of the door's 8" subwoofers was working (producing sound). The passenger side door sub was working properly but no sound at all was coming out of the driver's side door sub.
The fix: Replacing the bad amp that powers the driver's side door subwoofer. That was one of two amps as I show and the driver's side door sub (left speaker) is powered by what looks like the right side amp (amp closest to the firewall).
Hopefully this might be helpful for anyone running into a similar problem. Thanks again for stopping by and watching this video! If you have any questions or requests for videos please feel free to leave them in the comments below.

I’ve been having the same problem for over a year. I finally got a used amp and did the same thing. Glad I found your video.

Thank you very much for the content. You have helped move forward my trouble shooting stereo. You described exactly my issues.
Pulled out my head unit 5x times trying to troubleshoot wonky previous owner install
Do you have a part number for the driver and passenger amps?
    Thank you
    Spencer

I'm pretty sure the part number for both of my amps (left and right) was: 7R3T-18C808-AA. I do not "think" it matters which goes where and there seems to be a fair amount of different part numbers for different years and models. I'm thinking they will all work... but I cannot say for sure. You're best bet is to pull both of your amps out and match the part numbers for your specific vehicle. Thanks, and good luck!

Hi I recently got an 07 GT and both door subs do not work. The car is fully stock so I’m wondering if maybe there’s a fuse for them that could be blown? Or maybe both amps are bad. Anyway to check? Thanks

That's tricky! If it is indeed a stock head unit that no one has ever pulled out then fuses are definitely the first place I would check. You may need to check and test quite a few fuses (not sure which ones off the top of my head). But that should not be difficult. Otherwise if you could get ONE amp that you know works you could swap it out with one or both of the others to test that way. Good luck and let me/us know what you find!
