The Cataclismo left us broken. Construct fortresses and defend against waves of Horrors in this mix of tower defense and real-time strategy. Lead an expedition beyond the gates of the last city, and reclaim mist-shrouded ruins as you rebuild humanity-stone by stone.

I am one of the developers and I am starting to wonder if I would need a tutorial on how to build castles, because man those buildings are way nicer than mine hahaha
hey, is the game coming soon? like, this year? just played the demo and its great!
please lord let us remove scenery pieces, it diminishes creativity and design implementations
linux support?
@@scavyboii think its more about adaptation, this probably isnt going to be this level for the entire game on full release. But just like in "they are bilions" it adds scenarios to which you have to adapt to. Maybe some weird structures or scenery you have to build around? Maybe some height differemces you have to build around and adapt?
Wait, was the thing I'm really liking here somehow unintentional?
The thing I really like about this game, that few games rarely do (another is Valheim), is when mechanics and aesthetics coincide. An optimally-designed defense is also going to be an aesthetically "complete" one as well.
When you build optimal fortifications in this game, they actually look like real castle walls. Form follows function.
I hope you continue to refine and improve upon this emergent detail of the game while it is in early access.
As soon as I saw the building pieces, I immediately thought "Castle Story", but with better graphics and story.
Same here!
Yeah, it's almost a direct copy but reskinned, other than not needing to actually build stuff with workers and not having melee. Maybe no tunneling either.
Reminds me a lot of castle story with the building system but the graphics here are just awesome im in love
This looks pretty awesome. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
You're highly articulate, have a deep knowledge of gaming history, and choose some of the most interesting games to showcase. Really glad I found your channel.
Wonderful run through.
Despite not being an adept at these styles of RTS settlement games this & GORD have both recently popped up on my radar due to sheer aesthetic
This looks sick! Can't wait to see the crazy defenses people come up with once its out, I would have never thought of the murder holes you built and instead just focused my men on the battlements
Notice how the wall crumbled during that last wave?
You can really go deep and think about how you can weave the tiles in a way to prevent this.
If they manage to implement some quality of life features like displaying elevation, previewing what will crumble when certain tiles break, where units can stand, what is blocking your path or building location etc... This can be really amazing.
I'm def buying thisbgame when it's out
Despite any mean comments about you getting distracted, I personally appreciate that you pause for game dialog and then pick your point back up later
Cataclismo in spanish is cataclism.
Hogar is home in spanish.
I like the game. I can see you can get pretty creative with the construction.
Oh god, this looks so GOOOD.
I'm already buying it. Gives me stronghold vibes, in the best possible way
I went from: "This looks really good!" to "I NEED THIS" very quickly. There's something really cathartic about building big beefy castles, and I'm shocked more games haven't come out with these exact mechanics.
Gosh, could you imagine a Rimworld successor with this kind of fortification defense?
@@wanderbots stop it wander, my hype levels might explode
Just a thought if you use the stone arch and have it face inwards you can use that two block space it makes for a pathway and have an embrasure on it as well
Looks really interesting, the castle building aspect is really nice, hope to see more of this when it comes out!
Check it out Castle Story in the meantime. This game is a near-clone of CS.
Game looks like a lot of fun! Although you can't recycle scenery pieces, maybe you could take out their foundations and let them crumble?
This is Wanderbot building wet dream. I guess Wander has standards when it comes to building walls.
Looks absolutely phenomenal. Would love to see more gameplay, possibly a stream??
I plan on doing a full streamed series at launch!
@@wanderbots thank you Wanderbots
@@wanderbotswould you be able to upload a vod or something similar?
@@AOJ-z3m it'll be streamed here, so the VODs will be in the live tab.
@@wanderbots nice
Wanderbots: okay let's do a stream of Cataclismo.
*Proceeds to spend 10 hours on Building a Castle*.
This game looks GOOD. And i do enjoy watching you just build all day, don't worry about it
The art design is just 👌 all of the art and music
I like the art style 😮
I would describe the character designs here as Miyazaki-esque, particularly for the 2d art
Parts of the story/setting was reminding me of Nausicaa of the valley of the wind, including character design for sure. In all the best ways.
I just played the demo then found your vid. Love this game and cant wait for it to release! FYI the final mission is different now to what you played in this vid. You get attacked from all directions
They added a new level that is less hand holdy to the demo if you want to check it out. I feel you will enjoy it.
I guess you missed Castle Story; great game! Cataclismo is so similar that it's nearly a reskin, except that the stuff had to actually be built by workers in CS, and there were melee troops too.
Correct that this sort of system is rare in RTS, though. I would also like to see more games utilizing it. Thanks for showing this one; will definitely grab it.
And you should grab CS! You'll love it.
I can't wait for this game. BTW, the Spanish accent sounds Castellan (Spain/Madrid).
Guess I'm not the only one getting Castle Story vibes from this. This looks way way better though. No creepy playdough men. LoL
Any chance of showcasing Lushfoil Photography Sim? Popped up as an Ad and now I am intrigued.
Ever thought about putting scaffolding behind where they're stood to put a flag behind them.. that way they're beneficial, I wouldn't care for something looking better than reaping the benefits
I like the dark castle story vibes
I can't help but notice the game is being published by Humble Games. It makes me wonder if they'll be releasing a members-only build of the game as one of their monthly choice add-on perks they do with their games. Either way, I don't play too many demo's myself given that I can watch your channel or other channels and get the idea of the game without having to worry about the data that I'll have to clean from my SSD afterwards (not to mention save my SSD's a few read/writes in the process), but, this demo is compelling enough that I decided to download it anyway.
It makes me think about that, still awesome to this day and not tired game The Riftbreaker and how much cooler if they included verticality with that game.
I totally agree. Verticality should be more focused on in this genre and the RTS genre as a whole. I mean, sure, there's the typical "build walls but flying units can fly over walls" style and the "this building shoots people on the ground but is tall and protected" style.. and.. I mean... Dawn of war had natural verticality, but, being able to build that shit up with the landscape is something totally lacking for the games that I can recall.
Excuse me, I've recently become interested in survival city builders but don't know many titles. I'm hoping to find one with a cottagecore aesthetic or at least a forest setting. Does anyone have any suggestions?
This game reminds me of Castle Story a lot, but this one has a lot more depth to it and seems to have a story and lore.
This game is like Castle Story game
when this game comes out can you do a let's play at this game because this game is super awesome.
merlons stick out.. but don't actually have the machicolations! thats the entire point of having merlons stick out. jutting out without holes creates a deadspot.
Speaking of "really cool game that looks garbage". A recent release called BattleBit seems to be breaking that mold a little, using just straight poly graphics. Granted, it's a hardcore FPS battlefield game, so it doesn't depend on atmosphere as much, but it still mostly throws looks out the window.
I like the character portrait art style too, but I don't like it when character portraits don't line up with the actual game's visuals. In this case, I'd really like it if the 3D was modeled/filtered/skinned/whatever to look more like the drawing. Besides, it's not like we never see basic indie game low poly.
Cataclismo, Ciudad Hogar, Artes... It is funny how they just use Spanish to create a fantasy setting.
Well, we are from Spain so.. it was easy :D
@@javigimenez2723 Pues mucha suerte con el juego, que tiene pintaza.
More vectorio?
RTS: random train simulator
this game is for map designers not for all ......lol
You over complicated the wall building bro
Too high system requirements.
