50/50 on Sundays, but only because the nearest TLM is two hours away. We consider ourselves “TLM only” and attend the NO only on weekends we are “in exile.” Moving is something we have discerned, but isn’t possible right now.
TLM when available. SSPX comes once a month max, some months not (like this month). Otherwise we go to a Greek Catholic or relatively reverent NO. Things are a bit more conservative here in Hungary, I think. I have never seen an altar girl, and "Extraordinary" ministers are rare.
We go to a Novus Ordo. I think the priest would go for a TLM, and I'm not sure if it's the laity that stops him here, or if it's the bishop. It tends to retain quite a few of the traditional elements mentioned here, such as facing away from the people, the silent prayers, and the use of latin for some prayers. He does chant most of the prayers, and sometimes the Gospel. No altar girls. Encourages receiving on the tongue while kneeling, but hasn't mandated it.
Fr. Mike might be on the thumbnail on the NO side, but I learned from him why ad orientum was such a big deal. He’s actually the one who got me started learning about TLM because he presented it in such a simple and compelling way.
Fr. Mike is awesome! I attend and love the TLM but I've learned so much about the Bible from his Bible in a Year podcast and am now learning so much listening to his Catechism in a Year podcast. He's a blessing to the Church.
Love Fr. Mike. My husband and I are working through his Bible in a Year series, and it's awesome. I have no idea why Fr. Mike is portrayed on the negative side of this thumbnail, either. I don't like it. Not everyone has access to the TLM. I am literally at least 3 hours away from one.
Fr. Mike is definitely a faithful priest but I never understood why he didn't attempt to celebrate as orientem when he started streaming. It really didn't make sense during covid when so many priests were ready to look at a camera in an empty church and turn their back to the crucifix and the Tabernacle.
As a cradle Catholic all I knew was the novos ordo until I started listening to this channel. I looked online found a TLM parish swapped over 4 weeks ago and I love it.
Same, I remember as a kid and through adulthood never being much impressed, thinking, this is the house of God? Since discovery the TLM, the difference is night and day, the priest talking to God makes His presence more real
I'm Eastern Orthodox married to a Cradle Catholic. She's only ever been to novos ordo, I've only ever been with her to novos ordo. The only Latin service I've ever seen in person was the Christening of a distant cousin. It's nice to know there still exists hidden somewhere a mass as reverent as I'm used to in my church.
This video has helped me see that our diocese and specifically our Priest has done a tremendous job of holding to tradition and solemn respect of Christ. Our Clergy need our prayers more than ever.
I went to my first traditional Latin mass a few days ago. It has changed my life. It was beautiful, holy and reverent. It's an hour away but I think I'm going to travel every weekend. I loved it. Thanks be to God
Hi Dr. Taylor Marshall. Because of your videos, interviews with Jesse Romero, and Fr. Chad Ripperger are one of the many reasons I started attending the TLM since 2021 that also led to me becoming an Altar Server at the TLM. LIFE CHANGING!!! Viva Cristo Rey!!! ✝️
@@ash_11117 EVERYONE KNOWS THE BIBLE IS REAL AND THE CHRISTIAN CULT IS SUPER COOL. I'm attending my first Latin Mass on Sunday. I've followed your advice in your 5 steps to becoming Catholic and asked for private instruction by one of the Latin Rite Priest's for my conversion to Catholicism rather than RCIA. How I got to this place in life that my rebellion against the Church must end is quite a story that I may write about later.
@@DavidOrtiz-fd2lb You have to find a priest who is willing to meet with you one-on-one for direct instruction. He'll probably assign readings and then discuss those with you in weekly meetings. I'm not sure that it always follows that formula; there are probably variations. My advice is to begin by praying for a couple of weeks that the Holy Mother will guide you to a really good priest.
I was taking masters classes at Notre Dame University in Indiana and studying the Liturgy from a priest well known for his modern song used in the Novus Ordo Mass. When he spoke of the TLM he was very critical of the 'silliness', his words not mine, of the TLM with regard to garments, prayers, etc. He even showed us an old black and white film of the Latin Mass while making fun of the movements of the altar servers and other things. I knew in my heart of hearts that everything he was teaching and criticizing was wrong. It was because of this that I sought out the TLM in my diocese and fell in love with it. My faith life has greatly increased since then. Dr. Taylor Marshall has a great explanation of the differences of these Liturgies. Lots to think and pray about.
I've come to know the Latin Mass over the last4 years and think it wonderful, even serving with the priest twice (July, 2023) in saying the Mass with him. My greatest thrill! Unfortunately I now have to drive 68 kms to hear the Latin Mass because our priest will only say the Novus Ordo in my town. The 'holiness' of the Latin Mass is more paramount and I feel humbler.
I attend the FSSP in Irving, TX. (Mater Dei). The thing that bothers me most about the sign of peace at the NO Mass is that it comes right after consecration -where all focus should be on the altar. When they break and shake hands, kiss, talk to the people around them, etc it takes the focus completely away from Christ and puts it on man. I would have gently landed that point. Love listening to you, sir!
Sir I do certainly agree with you.The traditional Mass or the Mass of all times is the correct Mass,,promulgated by St. Pius 5 and enhanced by St Pius 10 ..but Giovanni Batista Montini and “archbishop “ bulgani tried very hard to abrogate the Mass and insert the novus ordo, along with some 7protestant ministers, some of whom did not believe in the Real Presence , then montini said that the smoke of satan had entered the Catholic Church, What a horrible mess 😢
We attend a Traditional Latin Mass celebrated by the FSSP in Tacoma, WA. It is the Mass of our youth (grade school, high school & college) and we are thrilled to be able to attend now that we are in our sunset years. It requires a little time and traveling committment, but pays big dividends. We are introducing our grandchildren to the TLM. 🥰
@PhillipsTraining we love our North American Martyrs parish, and love going to St. Joseph's when we go through Tacome. We are more blessed than we deserve.
Fr Mike has done some incredible work in bringing people back to the faith esp the young add to that Fr Chris Alar a wonderful priest from the Divine Mercy Shrine has brought millions back thanks to his educational videos
Regarding moving to where the Lord calls one to be in deeper relationship with him, if it's through liturgy, vocation, taking leave from the world, and responding to his calling to move is quite scriptural.
I remember the latin mass, although i was young, the early 60s..i was never comfortable with the new mass..thanks for reminding me where i came from. Thank you
I feel very lucky to have been an altar boy (1950-1952) and did the Latin mass. I kept a Sunday Missal that I can refer to for the Latin responses. I was an Army brat.
I was around at the same time. I was also a sacristan at an abbey. I never served a novus ordo Mass and very rarely attended one. I assisted at Holy Mass celebrated by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in London in the 1980s in the Chelsea Town Hall.
A splendid explanation that serves not only to those who did not know the reason for these main differences, but also to all those who know them, to thank God for the beauty of the true Mass. Thank you!
I am Greek Orthodox and I wonder if it's. because the Novus ordo is possibly close to what you were used to. .I imagine as an Orthodox Christian that you need to prepare more and get used to it.
This is a better format I think for a video rather than novus ordo bashing. Point out the differences and let people make their own conclusion. It's pretty obvious which one you favor but, I admire the effort to merely present the differences.
I agree with this post. It is not healthy to bash one side simply because you disagree with it. (See previous videos with Bishop Barron). With all due respect @Dr Marshall I would be careful to not make generalizations. I am not sure what the intention was for showing Father Mike Schmitz at the beginning of your video was but it seems kind of out of the blue. Just because you disagree with Novus Ordo it does not mean all priests are bad or have bad intention. Thank you for your efforts.
@@RobertBatchCatholicSpeaker I think it’s because Fr Mike is the most famous present-day priest, especially among people who watch TH-cam. Pretty sure I’ve heard Taylor Marshall bring up Fr Mike on his podcast a few times and it’s always been positive.
Not to mention talking in sweeping statements that I have never seen in any church. The tabernacle is not “down a hallway” and I always have had mass with bells used during the consecration. Not sure if people are going to “liberal” masses in big cities or in places where there isn’t a big Catholic population. The things he mentioned have not happened in my experience
@@deec7124 You probably in a conservative area. There are many churches I've been to in my life, pre-TLM, where I had to play "hide and seek" with Jesus in the Tabernacle. In Springfield Mo. In Belleville, Il diocese. In Virginia. It used to be more common, one bishop specifically put them all back since a previous bishop had removed them from the altar area. I've seen it behind the side of the altar, in a side room, in a separate section at the back of the church. I never cared for those churches. But I've found them in rather abundance around the country. Oh, a closet in an Indiana chapel. That was the worst. Leading me to assume where you are located did not have a hippie Dippie bishop who followed that trend.
This is sooo good thank you! I never knew why they removed the Tabernacle!! We have the Tabernacle up and behind the "table" above a traditional smaller altar (which was supposed to be used for,the Latin Mass, but they have cut back on the parishes that have the TLM in our diocese. ) so our priests have their backs to the Tabernacle . My Church was designed by our previous beloved pastor (May his soul rest in peace) , who loved the Latin Mass. It was built 8 years ago and has side altars, a communion Rail and a Traditional Altar behind the "table-Altar". He used to say the Latin Mass once a week as the Bishop at the time allowed. I am so hungry for the Latin Mass .
The veils is another big difference. I wish I had watched all your videos on the Traditional Latin Mass before I went today! 😩 it’s all good. I loved the Traditional Latin Mass and I still love my Novous Ordo Mass too. I love being Catholic ❤ God bless you Dr. Marshall 🙏🏽
@@He_who_lives_forever I love it! And now I am going on my days off from work, plus Sunday Low Mass! I am still committed to my Novous Ordo Mass for Saturday vigil, but I do not want to miss the Latin Mass! 🙌🏽I am so very thankful I learned about it
I'm not Catholic, so my knowledge on this topic is basically limited to what's explained in this video. But just from hearing this, the Latin Mass sounds way better to me. Maybe its just my personality type (quiet, reserved, don't wanna stick out like a sore thumb, etc) but anytime I've ever been at some sort of event, whether its a family gathering or a rock concert, I always prefer to be quiet and observe whatever is going on. The one concert I've been to in my life I was literally just annoyed to hear people screaming constantly while the music was being played, vs me just wanting to sit quietly and actually hear what I paid for... well ok I didn't pay for it, I was invited, but you get my point. Catholicism seems so much more complex and deep compared to other versions of Christianity, that the thought of random normies participating in these ceremonies just strikes me as odd. Its like, if I want to hear what Joe down the street has to say I'll ask him when I'm out walking the dog, not while I'm in church trying to learn something important. If you're in class, you don't want the teacher to step aside and let a student conduct the lecture, so how on earth did someone think it makes sense to do that in regards to peoples' souls and honoring God. At least that's how it appears to me as someone that's a total outsider, but the Novus Ordo thing just seems a bit... disrespectful, tacky... like it doesn't respect boundaries. Its like when you talk to a stranger and they get too personal if that analogy makes sense. Plus... anything with the words "new" and "order" in it... Makes me wanna grab my tin foil hat... On a side note, as a non-Catholic, I've commented here quite a bit and you guys always respond with great replies and make me feel welcome here, so I wanted to say thank you to everyone. I'm enjoying learning more about Catholicism, its really beautiful
I regularly attend Novus Ordo, but there is no TLM in my diocese, not even ad orientem. I am hoping that these circumstances will change soon: the nearest TLM parish is at least an hour away from both my college and my home. I really do love the TLM. I am easily distracted by my own momentary thoughts at those times, but I appreciate the profound reverence that is on display in the Liturgy. I pray that both Liturgies may unite in our love for Christ and work to avoid any more division. Viva Christo Rey!
Nearest TLM is a little over 2 hours away for my family! So I understand the struggle. I was living in Portland before coming back home and there were many TLMs there. Shame that Idaho doesn’t have more.
Yes, it is *_very_* informative and very readable, as well. As an alternative, there is also a series of videos of the same name. Each covers a chapter or two.
@@johnmaguire9305 I watched them and then bought the book... I guess I was trying to appeal to those who would rather watch than read. Of course, the book contains more information...
Dr. Taylor Marshall, THANK YOU & CONGRATULATIONS This Video DOES HELP VERY MUCH the new Catholic to not be "put off" the actual unfolding of The Mass ! However, it'a warm, friendly, guide to the fascinating World of The Mass !!!! This Video of yours, WILL HAVE EFFECT, POSITIVE EFFECT, ON A GRAND SCALE. MAKE MORE LIKE IT---- YOU'RE ON THE "RIGHT TRACT" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a cradle Catholic I realized the Latin Mass and Novus Ordo were very different, but I never thought about why and what was missing beyond the obvious: Latin, Vestments, Communion in the hand, EMHCs mostly female, lack of silence and often a lack of reverence, lay readers, inappropriate dress. We tried to get the TLM at our small parish but couldn't sustain it, as the time was noon on Saturday, which for those with kids in sports was a problem from the start. Thank you Dr. Marshall, this was great, but it makes me very sad for what we're missing. .
Every Novus Ordo Mass/Church I have attended says the Prayer to St. Michael and the Hail Mary. They also use the bells. The tabernacles are not in another room; they are where they should be.
I’ve been to Novus Ordo masses where everything is proper, I was raised in a parish like this. However, I’ve also visited other churches where things are bordering on sacrilegious and are very irreverent; from the placement of the tabernacle to the sorts of music used to all other aspects of the mass. The lack of uniformity has enabled those who wish to invoke novelty to do so, whereas those who wish to preserve tradition and reverence have been forced to the sidelines or out of the picture entirely.
Your videos guided me to Latin mass , there is only one church in my city that does this and I am very eager to go , I watched some of the Latin mass out of at stephens in Virginia and it was very peaceful The Gregorian chant was very calming I thank pope Benedict for making still available, I have had an hard time with a spiritual battle I’m a lazy Catholic amd spent a lot of time self absorbed In my own feelings, I need to be more in faith with Christ for the sake of my children , I feel as tho I’m coming out at a bad storm ,
I have started attending Traditional Latín Mass “Tridentine Rite “ at about 2 years ago. It happened to be after the wonderful gift , our Lord Jesus Christ, was glowing in the Eucharist Particles!🤴❤️🙏 During pandemic 😷 we had daily Mass outside the Church ⛪️ and I didn’t know there was another kind of Holy Mass, but I was thought to receive Jesus in my tongue always. Therefore, I have used a water bottle cup and placed in my hand and from there, with my tongue, I put it in my mouth. Then, I have stored the water bottle cup in a clean sandwich bag to keep using it. Time passed and we were allowed again to receive Jesus in the tongue! I have stored the sandwich bag inside a small purse. And one day , I was sprinkling Holy water to my Sacramentals. I have learned that is good to do often, regardless of being already blessed. Then I thought that I would also sprinkle Holy water on the water cup I used to receive Jesus. And then, I have seen Eucharist Particles all over the sandwich bag. And there was a bigger one and glowing beautifully! I have told my Rosary group friends about it. I took pictures and took of the Eucharist Particles and shared them with the group. Then, one of them told me to give them to a Priest. By this time, I was attending Traditional Latín Mass already and I have given the Eucharist Particles to a Priest. Dr. Marshall, I think is important for people to know that our Lord Jesus Christ is Truly Present, Body, Blood 🩸, Soul and Divinity. We must console our Lord Jesus Christ because of people receiving Holy Communion in the hand 🖐️. Eucharist Particles are falling to the floor and people are trampling our Lord Jesus Christ! 🤴✝️ Jesus, I Trust in You! 🤴❤️🙏😇
Dr. Marshall, since the awful Novus Ordo was thrust on us, there are more people than ever before who are ready to personally experience the Traditional Latin Mass and your video is the best means to briefly, but effectively, guide them in that respect. The grace of God has heightened the receptivity of many for such instruction as you provide here. There's a lot that you tell them, but without overloading them. Thanks to your succinct presentation, that is less than 30 minutes in length, newbies can intelligently follow and spiritually profit from their first TLM. May these first timers also note that their ''active participation'' as laity is not external, but internal, freeing them from interruptions, mandatory responses and mutual exchange of gestures, that distract the soul's response to what the Holy Ghost wants to impart to it and intrude on the solace and encouragement that Jesus Eucharistic desires the soul to fully feel.
Yes that's a wonderful distinction between external and internal participation. And the preference for internal participation. I never understood that when I first came to the traditional Latin Mass😢. Of course I understand it now but in the beginning it was rather foreign to me. Which honestly is pretty sad to say isn't it?
@@KMF3 The TLM is the most perfect combination of corporate and individual Worship. Paradoxically, the unchangeable TLM provides the best opportunity for our spontaneous response to Jesus Eucharistic during Mass and particularly at Communion time, because while the priest celebrant is standing before the Altar, with his back to us, and the people in the pews are occupied with their own thoughts and prayers, we are virtually left alone to give our undivided attention to God so we can gratefully receive every blessing He is about to bestow on us. While the Mass proceeds as if on autopilot, our souls stir with spiritual activity never before attained. When Mass is finished, we truly go in peace.
Some other differences I've noticed and appreciate. It's quiet before Mass with no gossiping and most all arrive at least 30 min early for rosary. No singing during communion, silence as opposed to distracting song. Generally much more reverent. Respectful in dress & kids not eating cheerios running toy cars behind your back or running in the ailes. Hands folded while in line for holy communion. No one leaves early and most stay over even if just a couple minutes. No clapping ever as there was clapping at the crucifixion.
Sounds like you would enjoy my Church, which is Novus Ordo, as you described the reverence we have at our Masses to a tee. We do have beautiful music tho, and I actually like it. I think it adds a beauty and sacredness. We do have Masses without music tho. I don't think it has anything to do with the type of Mass, but the Pastor of the Church and how he chooses to conduct things. We need more good Pastors!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love your videos! Thanks to your videos, The Holy Ghost and Blessed Mother Mary we now attend TLM since Spring of 2020. God opened our hearts to His Unchangeable Truth of the Mass. Love everything about Traditions. Thank You God
I've been going to TLM for 2 years now, and I find this short video to be an excellent summary of 10 differences between the Novus Ordo and the Latin Mass. When I attend Novus Ordo Masses now, I really miss the silence and reverence of the TLM.
The Traditional Latin Mass. I am blessed to have a Latin Mass church near to me. Wonderful priests. Thank you for this video. It was very helpful. From Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪
one can read what the priest is saying in your missal... as a child i had trouble keeping up with our old priest who was very fluent in Latin, now since our priest is new to Latin , I can easily keep up :)
Dr.Taylor ,I love your channel , I was just wondering if you could do a Part 2 to this video and the 5 remaining being bonuses so we could know the full 26 I know you're teaching a full course on this but teaching is more in depth than knowing the actual 26 . I loved this video nothing will be taken away from this video, it stands on it's own- I'm just asking because you piqued my curiosity, Thank you and God bless you and your intelligent and Beautiful family Thank you for doing what you do for our Lord and The Traditional Latin Mass
I grew up with the Ordinary Form of the Mass. I really love the Extraordinary Form, with the exception of the repeated reading of the Reading and the Gospel (in Latin then in English). I really love the increased readings of the current Liturgical Calendar. I love the Catholic faith. I love attending both forms of the Masses. God bless! ⚜️
@michaelverde4844, it does seem tedious at first. The Last Gospel is a powerful Exorcism prayer, and seals us all with the extra grace and protection. 😊
@@shiremom4 Oh, no, I like the closing Gospel. I meant the reading in Latin then in the vernacular. The prolonged silence and the chants in the TLM are a tremendous draw. Such a great experience when I go to our FSSP TLM in our Diocese. ❤️🔥
As a German, I find it quite interesting how big the Impact of the papal decree was.. In Germany we almost only celebrate Novus Ordo Masses. We have a few exceptions (for special masses outside of the "normal" sunday celebration). In almost all german churches, the high altar has been either removed or modified. Funny enough, I came to the realisation, that we actually have a sort of hybrid between both. I just find it very astounding how many different Masses there are, and how they are implementen very differently in different countries and cultures.
I am glad I found this podcast a year later; it provides the context that none of the traditional catholics commenting could explain. 1. The vernacular is awesome as the Mass can be celebrated by all nations - this follows the great commission Mt28 and also the formation of the universal Church at Pentecost. 2. The singular focus of the Crucifix above the altar of Sacrifice is such that ALL the people are looking up to the crucified Christ, while the priest, in persona Christi, is elevating the Body and Blood of Himself looking at all the people present. In our Archdiocese of Cape Town, most tabernacles are visible to the laity in a prominent place allowing for private prayer. 3. The “manuble” is not relevant; Christ dispensed with the towel after washing the feet. 4. Penitential Rite 9x Kyrie vs 6x is irrelevant. The intention to ask for mercy is still fulfilled. 5. The 3-year lectionary cycle makes so much more of the Word accessible in the Liturgical Calender, while still observing the primary liturgical and santorical cycle annually. 6. Silence, I agree there can be more, yet when the priest, in persona Christi, offers prayers to God the Father, He is offering them with the people - and the people should be actively attentive and participating. Good sound, when used well, is not offensive. 7. Concelebration is a red herring in this podcast, it seldom occurs in daily or Sunday liturgy. 8. Why should the laity do less when they are invited to the Wedding Feast of the Lamb? In all Sunday or Solemnity Masses, the offertory includes the bread and wine as an offering of our labour. And the Sign of Peace, offered in persona Christi, and in these same words, can be offered between laity in a sincere and dignified way. I have yet to experience “groovy”. And as the disciples asked “Lord, teach us to pray”, why then should the Lord’s prayer be limited to the priest? And the readings or psalm, were these only bread by the priests in the synagogues? Jesus, who was not a priest, read and taught. And when the lay person concludes the reading, do they say “ The word of Christopher, or Anne, or Marshall? Absolutely not. But The Word of the Lord. For the Lord uses the lips of human beings to proclaim His Word. 9. In the NO, laity receive on the tongue or the hand. Do our hands really need to be consecrated? For it is not what goes into the mouth that is unclean, but that which comes out of the mouth. And yes, evil persons may try to conceal the Blessed Sacrament and n the hand for ulterior motives, but a vigilant Priest, Deacon, EMHC or lay person should take action immediately. 10. Ite Missa, est. Yes the Mass continues as all Catholics should become what they receive and take Christ into all the world. +Pax Christi
As always, Dr Taylor, you are an excellent teacher! And now you've hit one of my biggest problems with the Novus Ordo - #8. They only ask families. Us single persons coming in to celebrate a Mass - no matter how well-dressed we are, or aren't - are always ignored. If we're all supposed to be One, then why are only families asked?! I've experienced this is multiple dioceses in 5 states. And then there is always my childhood memory of when that first started - my mother and I walked in , and the usher grabbed my mother's arm and said in a gravel voice - "You and the girl wanna bring up the Gifts?" My mother, a cradle Catholic, *knew* that no one but the priest should touch that AND she also had no idea of what he was talking about!!! But, again - I was part of a family group, so there you go.
It's nice that you'd like to help bring up the gifts when you attend an Ordinary Form Mass. All you need to do is volunteer -- most parishes welcome that. You can ask an usher if they need anyone to help with the presentation of gifts.
I have had trouble with the Mass being said in Latin and not the language of the country where it is being said. Now I understand why it is said in Latin. I never did like the hand shaking during Mass. The Latin Mass seems more beautiful and sacred. I want the Communion rail back.
When I was young Catholics had to learn the responses to the Latin Mass, and so every Sunday being obedient soldiers we went to Mass and came home not knowing what we just did, we were allowed to respond in English it opened a whole new world, and now Dr. taylor is insinuating we did it all wrong! Is there a right way and a wrong way to worship? If so then I guess we were all doing it the wrong way way and so our many Masses were useless. That is how this makes me feel!!!!
The Tridentine Mass is the correct Mass, promulgated by popes sts Pius v and given more impetus by Pius x ..one always has./had this option to read the Latin one one side of the page and the vernacular on the other side of the page..No alter girls, Holy Communion given on the tongue only by the blessed hands of the priest, not by any so called lay minister, whose hands are not blessed 😮
@@ronaldmessina4229 So you're saying that throughout history nothing can be changed? If one Pope has the authority to promulgate it, does another not have the authority to change it?
The main difference is the GeneralSpirituality is felted during All the Holy Mass. and ONLY the Priest gives the Holy Comunion. Thank U for this interesting and teaching us. God Blesses All
I'm a cradle Catholic who love the imperfect Novus Ordo Mass where I can receive our Lord in the Holy Eucharist with a contrite heart and ask the Lord to see through the imperfections of myself, the congregation, the priests, the lectors, the altar servers, the lay ministers and the mass as a whole. It is at the Novus Ordo that I am always reminded of the love of God and therefore Love Him above all and love our neighbors as our selves. A symbolic representation of the vertical and horizontal beam of the cross and the 2 most important law given to us by Christ Jesus. One cannot exist without the other. And so after the mass there is always that peace that I try to live. To understand others and not much to be understood. To see the beam in my eye and not be judgemental of others. To serve others than seek to be served. Yet I'm imperfect so I ask God for forgiveness when I have failed.
Dear Shepherd, God sees your imperfections but He commands you to move to Perfection. If you fall, go to Confession, and sin no more. He calls us to Sanctify. Nothing impure will enter tje Kingdom of God. I will be praying for you for ever
When I first started assisting at the TLM we would ring the tower bells for Consecration, it was awesome. Sadly, our Bishop has shuffled us to another church without manually rung bells. Also, I learned from one of my fellows that the tower bells are typically consecrated; the largest to the Sacred Heart and two smaller equal bells to the Immaculate Heart and to the Most Chaste Heart
Thank you Dr Taylor, very interesting and informative. Unless the older Catholic’s like myself pass on the knowledge, when the Mass was said with reverence and great celebration, these young ones won’t have a clue, unless they are listening to podcasts like yours🙏❤️🔥✝️. We must make our voices heard over this modernism.
I usually attend the ordinary rite in vulgar language, but I don’t mind attending the traditional latin mass from time to time. I feel it adds to the liturgical richness of my faith, I don’t perceive it as a threat but as another option to be grateful for.
I started attending traditional mass in 2020. This Sunday I visited a NO mass and had high blood pressure the whole time. Although it was relatively reverent. No holy water, no cross near or on the altar. Instead a bottle of disinfectant ON THE AlTAR TABLE! So little prayes, the credo without mention of Jesus descent into hell, or of the saints, or of the forgiveness of sins. I will definitely stick to my beloved traditional mass.
Novus Ordo, but the closest TLM Mass is over 90 miles away. But we have a very traditional Novus Ordo, Four priests and two are from Africa (Nigeria and Kenya), and confession seven days a week, twice per day. We have an Adoration chapel to die for, Divine Mercy Chapel open 24 hours a day. 60 ministries at our parish and inside the church there is a rosary that goes on the outside walls all around the church
That is wonderful. There are many good Novus Ordo Churches out there, including mine. TM never talks about them, and usually the information he provides is false, which I find sadly disturbing. I am happy for you and for those of us who have good Churches nearby the attend.
It's truly amazing that they so successfully duped so many people into believing that by dividing the Mass into innumerable different cultural languages and customs, they could achieve greater unity.
@@benedictchinweuba5820 Respectfully, Latin IS the Universal language of the Roman Catholic Church and as such Latin should be used at all Masses all over the Earth. The Latin mass was “Canonized” centuries ago and having different languages is a direct result of rebellion and division in the Church to this day. See the Protestants (specifically Anglican, Lutheran, Episcopalian, etc), and certain Orthodox Churches to this present time. It is a known fact that Vatican 11 incorporated the vernacular to appease all of these “religions”! That is why Non Catholics participated in that Council and all of the “Synods” since. All of this was done in the name of “ecumenism”! The results are obvious- catastrophic to the Catholic Church. It is not our strength to be divided in the “One Holy and Apostolic Roman Catholic Church”.

I agree. Fr Mike is leading many to heaven.
Fr. Mike is definitely a faithful priest but I never understood why he didn't attempt to celebrate as orientem when he started streaming. It really didn't make sense during covid when so many priests were ready to look at a camera in an empty church and turn their back to the crucifix and the Tabernacle.
😅😅😅
As a cradle Catholic all I knew was the novos ordo until I started listening to this channel. I looked online found a TLM parish swapped over 4 weeks ago and I love it.
Dido accept that I found the TLM because my NO mass was shut down for the “who-flu”
Same, I remember as a kid and through adulthood never being much impressed, thinking, this is the house of God? Since discovery the TLM, the difference is night and day, the priest talking to God makes His presence more real
Welcome to the TLM!

Praise God for your conversion! I also had the rare benefit of private instruction. Such an immense blessing. We'd love to hear your story!
How does private instruction work?
@@DavidOrtiz-fd2lb You have to find a priest who is willing to meet with you one-on-one for direct instruction. He'll probably assign readings and then discuss those with you in weekly meetings. I'm not sure that it always follows that formula; there are probably variations. My advice is to begin by praying for a couple of weeks that the Holy Mother will guide you to a really good priest.
Welcome home to the Eucharist and Eternal Truth! I'd also love to hear your story.
God bless you in your journey. 🙏❤️🙏
DR.MARSHALL ITS 2024 MARCH,JUST LEFT NO AND ATTENDING TLM.THANKS FOR THIS TEACHING IT HELPS OUT SPIRITUALLY.ALL QUESTIONS ANSWERED.
God really does bring good out of evil!

Gloria Deo! ave Christus rex, may God bless you brother.
The more I learn about the differences, the more I appreciate the Latin/Mass of the Ages the more.
Thankful for St Joseph’s and NAM to be close by! Grateful for the TLM!
@PhillipsTraining we love our North American Martyrs parish, and love going to St. Joseph's when we go through Tacome. We are more blessed than we deserve.
My family goes to that parish, I used to attend mass at St. Joseph’s and NAM when I lived in Washington
My son goes there, too!
I have been yearning to attend the Latin Mass at St. Joseph's for over a year. I'm nervous to "just show up" but I know it's what I need to do.

You are a lunatic
I love the bells & they move you closer to understanding.
I remember the latin mass, although i was young, the early 60s..i was never comfortable with the new mass..thanks for reminding me where i came from. Thank you
Excellent clarifications about all the differences, insights of TLM and Novus Oreo. Thank you
I feel very lucky to have been an altar boy (1950-1952) and did the Latin mass.
Thank you!
Thank you Dr. Marshall
As someone new to Catholicism I really appreciate the novus ordo. Went to a traditional Latin mass last week and man I was super confused
You and so many others who are relegated to being spectators while the priest says HIS MASS.
I am Greek Orthodox and I wonder if it's. because the Novus ordo is possibly close to what you were used to. .I imagine as an Orthodox Christian that you need to prepare more and get used to it.

I miss the bells at mass, I loved the tradition of the bells and hearing the-drawing you to what was happening on the Altar.
Why would you throw Fr. Mike the pic? I love Fr. Mike.
I cant watch fr. Mike, hes too goofy and why does he always turn his head to the side like hes a pop singer?
He is a popular figure representing the Novus Ordo
Who is fr. Mike?
I love being Catholic ❤

Thank you Dr Marshall may The Risen LORD bless you abundantly.
Thank you for you respectful comment.
I too prefer the quiet, peaceful atmosphere of the Latin Mass.

Dr. Taylor Marshall, i pray to have more defenders of faith like you. May god enlighten those who are afraid to come out in the open.
We sometimes travel an hour or so to attend a LTM, I know people who travel farther. It's worth it!
Nearest TLM is a little over 2 hours away for my family! So I understand the struggle. I was living in Portland before coming back home and there were many TLMs there. Shame that Idaho doesn’t have more.

Novus Ordo emphasizes the community over Christ. Thank God I found an FSSP parish to experience the TLM as a discerning Catholic.
It’s wonderful to learn and understand the beauty of celebrating the mass in memory of Christ…thank you Dr. Marshall. Thank you very much.

The lack of uniformity has enabled those who wish to invoke novelty to do so, whereas those who wish to preserve tradition and reverence have been forced to the sidelines or out of the picture entirely.
and that chaos is exactly why you should have listened when us orthodox warned you

I have started attending Traditional Latín Mass “Tridentine Rite “ at about 2 years ago. It happened to be after the wonderful gift , our Lord Jesus Christ, was glowing in the Eucharist Particles!🤴❤️🙏
During pandemic 😷 we had daily Mass outside the Church ⛪️ and I didn’t know there was another kind of Holy Mass, but I was thought to receive Jesus in my tongue always.
🤴✝️
Jesus, I Trust in You!
🤴❤️🙏😇
Thank you Dr. Taylor, I didn’t realized that there’s difference with the Latin Mass and Novus Ordo.
We always arrive early for the Rosary too. 😊

Thankyou for that, Taylor Marshall. I have recently attended the Modus Order and was floundering like a fish out of water! Bless you for this!
Novus Ordo? (That's Latin for New Order).

Harvey is correct. You can volunteer. I think it is because they want 2 or more to present the gifts, and families are the easiest to ask.
Thanks Dr. Marshall. Additional learning re my faith...Keep safe and God bless...
Excellent! May I also mention the communion rail. I miss receiving Holy Communion on my knees.
AMEN to that! I loved the Communion rails!
Ty Doctor Taylor!
Excellent presentation, much Obliged!🙏❤️
Thank you for expalining these differences. I definitely prefer the old way, the way it was when I was a child. It makes more sense.
This was very educational. The part about the bells seems similar to the naval service use of bells to announce the times during 4 hour watch.
The main difference is the GeneralSpirituality is felted during All the Holy Mass. and ONLY the Priest gives the Holy Comunion. Thank U for this interesting and teaching us. God Blesses All
Thanks Dr. Marshall for the info. I am learning from you.
That is the right mind set.
Every time Doctor posts I know it’s a banger ⛪️✝️🇻🇦
When I first started assisting at the TLM we would ring the tower bells for Consecration, it was awesome. Sadly, our Bishop has shuffled us to another church without manually rung bells. Also, I learned from one of my fellows that the tower bells are typically consecrated; the largest to the Sacred Heart and two smaller equal bells to the Immaculate Heart and to the Most Chaste Heart
They like any other things in a church are all consecrated.
Very interesting and useful.....
Thank you Dr Marshall from the UK 🇬🇧
Also kneeling is a big difference
Thank you so much Dr, another great video.
Wow. Very straight forward and informational. Nice.
I usually attend the ordinary rite in vulgar language, but I don’t mind attending the traditional latin mass from time to time. I feel it adds to the liturgical richness of my faith, I don’t perceive it as a threat but as another option to be grateful for.
Outstanding! I became Trad, but i never really noticed some of these things. Thank you so much. One of the best vids i have seen
Thank you so much Dr.Taylor
I attend both since my husband is a KOC at a NO church but I prefer TLM myself and attend as often as possible
It's truly amazing that they so successfully duped so many people into believing that by dividing the Mass into innumerable different cultural languages and customs, they could achieve greater unity.
Totally agree… Tower of Babel results … but they knew exactly what they were doing…. Division
Yeah, diversity and inclusion is our strength --not!
@@joanpiasio5350 EXACTLY. Latin is the language of the Church, because it is outside the world and therefore, unlike the world, has true unity.
So true. In my experience on the US Mexico border, two separate churches result. No unity, definitely not Catholic in the true sense of the word.
