I always wear my veil / mantilla. Even when we go downstairs to the basement of our church where the kitchen & hall are, because I know Jesus is still in the building. I have had a priest ask me why I wore it there, and when I told him my reasoning, he thought about it & never mentioned it again. 👍
My grandmother always made us wear a veil. She said a woman’s hair was her crown and we had to humble ourselves and show humility in the presence of GOD. She was a devout Catholic and so I continue to cover my head in respect.
I'm a teenager who started veiling about a year ago. I felt called to do it despite not knowing anyone else who did (my mother was hesitant to even allow it) and prayed about it for months before finally deciding to start wearing a mantilla to mass. Because there were so few women at my NO parish who veiled, I was initially really self conscious, but now I'm much more comfortable and have even started seeing more women with mantillas! To all other girls considering veiling, it is totally worth it to embrace tradition and reverence for Christ! I'm so grateful that, through God's help, I pushed through my insecurity and responded to His call.
Wearing a veil is also in reverence for Christ in the real presence as well as humility. Beautiful thing! Our Lord is very pleased with this head covering.
So proud of you honey1 Just keep doing the right thing and know that Our Lord and Our Lady walks very close to you through this journey because you have let them. God Bless you.
I never veiled. Then I had a Holy dream where I was in front of the Blessed Sacrament and Our Lord asked me to wear a veil and I placed a beautiful veil on. I immediately felt it was pleasing to the Lord. I now always wear a veil to church and even when I’m praying at home.
Wearing a veil is biblical. 1Corinthians 11. I wear a veil everyday, everywhere. We are to be in a prayer attitude all the time, so instead of trying to keep track of where my veil is, I wear it all the time. It isn’t big like a church veil but it covers my hair. It is also a great witnessing tool.
ONG the exact same thing happened to me. In Adoration I heard a voice saying, WOULD YOU WEAR THE VEIL? Of course I said yes and started to do research on why I was asked. It was a reawakening to my faith after Vatican II submission. We were duped.
@@nancylemieux8058 yes, it was totally out of the blue. And it was more real than real life that’s how I knew it was a Holy Dream. It took me 2 weeks before I could wear the mantilla and it was excruciating drawing attention to myself in that way. But I did it for God and over time it has become normal. It is what God deserves.
I veil. And I attend the NO Mass. my Church is literally next door to my home. My priest is a Marian priest. There is talk of him wanting to use the rail and communion on the tongue. He is very humble. It may not be the TLM but it is reverent and respectful, as well as traditional as much as I’ve seen.
In the 80’s my hometown, older priest rebuilt the communion rail, and only allowed himself or sometimes for large masses, a deacon would assist. Never lay people.
I’m a guy, but your NO experience is very similar to mine. If you’re in Memphis, Holy Rosary on Park- 10:30am Mass is about as reverent as a NO Mass can get. Incense, pipe organ, singing responses. Many big families, many woman in veils. Though they don’t use the rail, they do have a kneeler to receive Communion on, and many parishioners use it, including myself. I think there is one TLM church left in Memphis. Glad the Bishop didn’t outlaw it like in so many other parishes, but Bishop Talley has done a pretty good job.
Though I try to attend the most reverent Novus Ordo Mass I can find, I began wearing a veil about 3 years ago. Jesus began to speak to my heart about the humility it took to wear a veil (I tend to be proud and dress my best for Sunday. Still after a couple of months of veiling I wanted to put it aside. And then, I heard the Lord say, "Will you do it for Me?" And each of us knows when we hear that distinct voice which is Jesus. "Yes, Lord, I will do anything that YOU ask me to do. But Lord, may I ask why, for what purpose?" The Lord replied, "As a sign. A sign for the priest. When the priest sees your head covered he will recall the traditional doctrines of the Church and will not be as likely to embrace modernism - which is man's path." "Will you be a sign for Me?" "Yes, Lord, whatever YOU ask of Me, I will do." Since obeying ad embracing the Lord's command every time I enter a chapel, He has supplied me a multitude of graces, and a number of challenges. It seems ANY sign of traditional doctrines in today's Catholic Church cuts like a two-edged sword. Jesus be the Victor, I pray.
You should dress your best for Holy Mass!! Where do you think you are going? To the grocery store or the laundromat? It is the House of God! You do not need to wear to wear your diamonds, rubies and emeralds or such, but you should dress up!
@@MartinvonTours11.11 I understand what she’s talking about... I too wanted to wear the right dress or skirt but it was prideful even though it was a long skirt...I felt like I was above the women who wore slacks because I was being a lady. It isn’t about that at all; it’s about what she just said. I never wore jewelry or makeup but doing it for Christ means something entirely different and it is not prideful
I grew up with wearing either a veil or a hat. Now I wear a veil at all masses and in our wonderful adoration chapel We r fortunate to have perpetual adoration around the clock. When I wear my veil I feel covered in Christ’s love and protection I actually wear my veil most all the time.
I wear a dupatta (I live in India) I wore a veil, on my first communion day to receive Jesus in my heart. I wore it on my wedding day to meet my beloved at the altar. Now I wear it as a public profession, in eager anticipation for my eternal spouse. And I love it. More of my friends have also begun.
I've been wearing my veil for the past 4 years and some ladies in my parrish had ask me about it and I provided them with a veil, and they too wear them during Mass. Setting example! 👍🏼👍🏼
Hmm.....which Church do you go to? I go to the SSPX and every female wears a veil. Before, I was going to Novus Ordo but still wore a veil. When I was a kid, I wore a "chapel cap".
@@sweetcaroline2060 interesting enough, I go to a Parochial Parrish that give communion in the mouth and to those that kneel down, wears veil without restrictions. So far I've been bless, since I don't have a Traditional Latin Mass near me. Please keep me in your prayers! Blessings 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I think you are being disingenuous by pretending you have no opinion on the subject but merely looking to scripture and tradition. It is very obvious even from your remarks about Paul that you are a very conservative, traditional religious fundamentalist. As such you believe women, including your wife, are inferior and therefore must cover themselves because they are not fit to stand before God as you do.
@@patriciabyrne5089 Dr. Marshall clearly stated that he believes that women and men are equal in dignity before God, but that there is a hierarchy in all walks of life. He said that he doesn't think that women are inferior to men. It helps to hear and understand what a person is saying instead of making up things which you want to hear for some strange reason... God bless you.
yes that’s exactly why i veil! when i walk down the aisle to receive our Lord i imagine Him waiting at the end of the aisle, and that it’s our wedding. Communion is the bridegroom(Jesus) and bride(us) becoming one, just like in a wedding!
Great video. My wife started veiling many years ago when we were still attending the N.O. To me, she is rarely more beautiful than when she is on her knees in Mass wearing her veil, and praying fervently for our family.
You are a beautiful husband. I know of one man in my family who, after seeing someone from out of town visiting who was veiling asked his wife to do so, and another man in my family who just stopped going to Mass (with or without his wife) when he saw her put one on for their NO parish Mass, where only 1 other woman in their parish veiled. Jesus sees all, and I veil for Him. God bless you. Your wife is a blessed woman.
@@nonna5399 Thank you, Joanne. I don’t know that I deserve the compliments you give. I’m a sinful man, but I do try. Thank you for your devotion to our Blessed Lord and your devotion to veiling to honor Him. God bless you.
I wore a veil as a child at the latin mass. Now I am back attending the latin mass with the veil and I love it! How rich is our faith. Thank you for further explaining women and wearing the veil.
Yes! I veil for Mass. I do it for biblical reasons, out of respect for the space I am in, and as a recognition of Christ as my Bridegroom in the Eucharist. I also do it out of imitation of the Blessed Virgin because I want to be as close to her as possible!
Very good. "In imitation of the Blessed Virgin." And how did Mary dress? Not like many of the pictures represent her. In the Mystical City of God, it says she was so modestly covered, "nothing was ever seen on her, except her face that inspired many, and her hands, that labored for souls."
@@ll4334 So many things to learn from those books The Mystical City of God like when Our Lord after he was born he spoke and the location of hell at the center of the Earth and a lot more revelations .
I ordered my first mantilla online and sent it off to get a comb sewn into it. As I prayed the rosary, I asked Mary to help me receive it in time for my first TLM. Then, I saw me with a veil on and Mary with Jesus admiring me with my veil on and caressing my head. I received my veil in time and knew she asked her son and helped me.
Men always took hats off for respect. Veils are for respect. Be humble. Vanity is flaunting hair. Church shouldn't be a fashion show. We are there for the Lord. Obey the commandment.
@@deliamcmahon4603 I thought it was just me. I love it when my wife wears hers. The respect and love for God shines when she does and she looks more beautiful to me because of it.
@@USMC98 my husband is a real catholic. He always said that my place is in the home cooking and cleaning. I married my husband at only 17 and he was 21. We are truly in love. We have 8 children, all boys. My life's a blessing.
It’s my personal “little house of prayer” i like the bigger scarf-styles and position it like “blinders” so i gaze only front - at the Lord - and not around me. No distractions from the side . Love it
I am sewing veils for our church for giveaway as I promised when I was diagnosed with cancer in 1978, I am now in remission n thanks our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for your narrative about wearing veils in the church. God bless you always.
My wife, a recent convert, had always worn a veil at the TLM and continued when we moved and are stuck with the Novus Ordo. At first she was the only one veiled but slowly other women started veiling again. Four years later 15-20 of our faithful are wearing mantillas or veils at Sunday Mass. Ave Maria!
The best analogy, or argument, for women wearing a veil, is similar to why we veil the chalice. The chalice contains that which is sacred, the Bread of Life. So too, the woman brings forth life. Woman are differentiated in that sense. (I am a man and recognize God has a vocation for me too.). But women are truly sacred in their ability to give life.
Yes. We were duped into not covering our head after Vatican 2. As a teen I trusted the Church completely. So with the lie I was swept away in the flood and stopped wearing a veil. Hindsight! Soon after more clothes came off! Immodesty ruled. Abortion entered to complete the Woman's demise. God created the woman to be the Tabernacle of Life. Our Lady was the first and the Immaculate Tabernacle of God. Yes, one covers what is holy as the Chalice or the Tabernacle in Church. I went back to covering my head as I began to see the destruction pattern. Covering a Woman's head is a sign of the great gift God gave...as Eve said when she when Cain was born 'with the help of the Lord I have produced a man'. The enemy must hate it when women cover their head. A way for me to kinda fight back.
I also keep a veil in my car and in my bags so I always have one no matter what. It's not because I think someone will judge me. I am one of only a handful of women who veil at my Church, but I feel it in my heart, like a heavy rock when I do not.
I find it to be a very positive thing in my spiritual life! I felt called to veil in 2017, did a little research, prayed, bought and wore my mantilla for the first time (at a NO Mass)… and never went back! Beyond the reverence we show to our Lord, women who veil are a beautiful walking example of the Bride of Christ! Some other positive things I’ve found is that as I put it on, I prepare my heart for worship and having it on in church helps to keep my eyes forward and less distracted by things happening around me. Another positive as a busy mom is that I don’t have to waste time before mass “fixing” my hair- I simply cover it! Saves me so much time and hassle! I love seeing more women bring back this beautiful tradition! Both at NO and TLM masses near me (though there are definitely more at the TLM)!
I have veiled for 7 years at the NO Mass. I love to do so. (I returned to the Catholic Church after a 28 year absence in 2009). I live in an area of the South that is about 1% Catholic. I have never looked back since my return, and I will always veil! +JMJ+
I also live in the south. Ms. is about 2 or maybe 3% Catholic. There is no TLM that I'm aware of in our Diocese but we have a priest who comes through every 2 weeks who offers it. Most of the parishes are too modern for me but I was blessed to find one like yours about 30 minutes away. Around 1/3 of the women/girls wear a veil there and I think it's amazing. It's especially nice to see that the younger girls are wearing them as well. Hopefully we can get that number up to 100%. We have a lot of cradle Catholics that have moved here from La. so that is VERY helpful.
I have lived through the so-called “evolution” of feminism from beginning in the early ‘60’s until now. Every Easter, for years, I bought a pretty new hat or veil to wear to Mass. I miss that. Conclusion: So-called Equality has reduced women to eternal slaves. Yes, yes I know. There are times when women MUST take the reins, earn the living, etc. in those situations, because it is unavoidable, it works. But when is the last time any young woman had a ‘Hope chest’, dreams of simply being a lovely wife and mother and having a husband who was the patriarch? Centuries of men and women’s life roles cannot be conclusively changed because deep in our souls and our DNA (depending on your belief) we crave the Holy Family structure as God intended. Mary didn’t lead the way to Bethlehem, Joseph did.
So beautifully written! I’m 35 yo, I fell into that trap. I was so ambitious and wanted to work outside the home and be a “strong independent woman”. I opted to resign my position and stay home at the beginning of the pandemic as I was heavily pregnant and the kids had to do home schooling. I didn’t realize until I was home how horribly miserable I was working; I LOVE being at home and caring for my home and family. I will be going back to work in 2022, not because I want to, but because I owe so much in student loans that my husband can’t pay them alone. My goal is to work HARD to pay off the loans and the mortgage in 5 years and come back home full time. I tell my 5 year old that there is nothing more beautiful than caring and loving for one’s home and family; and I think she sees and feels the love because she always says, “I want to be a mommy at home like you”.
Yes, after visiting Israel and seeing the profound respect shown the Wall (head covered, walking backwards when leaving) my daughter and I chose to veil ever since. Best veils are from Veils by Lilly on line.
Etsy has some cute-and inexpensive-ones, too. Of course you can always drop the names of these places this week (Mother's Day) and pictures of veils from their websites! Lol. Our Traditional men don't seen to be as "dull" when it comes to hints. Of course, chatting it up in the car on the ride to Mass and back helps! LISTEN UP, GENTLEMEN!
I veil at Mass. Veils by Lily has so many lovely ones. Veils by Tradition has them for free with just $5 for shipping per veil. I've noticed more and more ladies veiling at our church.
@@Alma.- Thank you for sharing about Veils by Tradition. I don't have much money, but $5 shipping for two veils is a blessing! I can give one as a gift. Bless you!
I am from El Paso Texas. for many many years have been a non-practicing Catholic... I started hearing your channel and you're always talking about the Latin Mass.. Very recently I went to confession received communion and making the extra effort to go to church on Sunday.. but the most wonderful news of all is I found that we have a church downtown The Immaculate Conception.. they offer Latin Mass.. they require head covering and prefer you wear a dress.... I am so excited to attend.. I recently also learned the Our Father in Latin.. thank you so much Taylor Marshall for sharing your knowledge.. your lectures are amazing 👍🙏✝️
I think it would be beautiful and respectful to wear a veil at mass. I visited Italia 15 years ago and experienced wearing a veil at church, and I felt good.

This was a tradition in our family. My mother would make me wear a veil for Sunday mas la as a little girl. Now every time I see a woman wear one I feel a tug to wear one but I’ve dismissed it for a while. Now I feel our Blessed Mother is asking me to wear one to mass! Thank you Dr. Marshall you just confirmed this devotion! ❤🙏🏻🙌🏼
@@caroline-9672 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 1 Timothy 2:13-15 Titus 2:3-5 1 Peter 3:1-7 Revelation 14:1-4 Would you like more? It is embarrasing for you to pretend the Church has not been sexist since it was created. Keep submitting to your husband though, like a good Christian woman.
My daughter and I along with her 2 daughters began wearing veils during Holy Week this year. We love this tradition and now can’t imagine going into a church without a veil. Prayers that more women will revive this holy tradition ❤️🙏
I agree with Dr. Marshall, there is a certain dignity and class that is afforded when we veil. There’s a respect that is given. I love veiling anytime I go into The church. It puts me in the background and puts the focus on the real reason I and everyone else is there. I wear lace mantillas, chapel veils and rebozos. I also wear different colors so it “goes” with what I wear. Veiling has affected me and how I present myself to the world so much I am praying about wearing a head covering all the time now. When I first starting veiling I was the only one in my church, and I would get MEAN looks from middle aged women (50ish), now I see more and more women wearing veils. It makes me believe that things are coming full circle, and we will come back to the rightly ordered way.
I have been faithfully veiling since 2009. My husband proposed in 2007 with a white chapel veil because of a conversation we had about me being interested in veiling. My great grandmother wore a veil all her life and I always admired her hidden beauty and humility. It was great that the man I am called to be in submission to gave me the symbol of submission. I will never forget that day
In 1966 when my husband and I got engaged he gave me a chapel veil. Up until then I wore a small round lace cover like a doily. My parents were impressed by his gift because it underscored the kind of life he wanted for the two of us. The veil is now too fragile to handle but it is tucked away with my wedding gown. My mother passed away 8 years ago and my father gave me my mother's mantilla. I treasure it. A friend and I bought several pieces of lace and have made several veils that we plan to give away at our parish's Christmas bazaar. We made them in various sizes and in different colors, but nothing bright or loud. They're simple and beautiful!
Yes. I did not at first, then saw a video where a man explained the 'why'. First & foremost: respect to our Lord God. I believe it was a Sensus Fidelium video that covered 7 key points why Catholic women should return to this. And I agree.. why I now wear a veil. As I read somewhere, Mass is about Him.. of Him and only Him. We are there to worship.
@@kaymuldowney6752 What does it matter that a man explains something to women as long as it is the truth? Because of covid our male catechist couldn't come back to teach Catechism to boys. Now they learn from me, an old woman, about Christ, the Church and the Mass and how important it is for men to be the leaders in their families and in the church. The important thing is that these young men are learning the truth. Peace be with you 🙏
I have ordered several chapel veils from Veils by Lily online. Beautiful lace veils including for young girls. Infinity veils, all colors and styles that can include tiny combs sewn in.
Once I began veiling, I can never un-veil. I am a convert of 34 years. Raised Baptist and converted at 21. I later began receiving only on my tongue. I was in Dallas last week and asked a man before Holy Mass if the Priest gave on the tongue. He said no. I went for it anyway! He gave Him on my tongue!!! I wish I could kneel too. Bad knees tho.
I'm Italian, very rare seeing a veiled woman at the NO here, I attend the TLM since 2019 and since then I always wear a veil that used to be my mother's or a lace mantilla for Mass, Adoration and Rosary. I specially find lovely to see the little girls with their beautiful white veils attending mass with their families. Among all the interesting things Dr. Marshall said, I would add that the veil helps focusing on the Mass avoiding distractions.
No it’s not lovely. It’s bs. I was forced to veil and wear long skirts my whole life. It was traumatizing and demeaning. Little girls in skirts aren’t beautiful. Their parents are monsters
@@feederbureauofinvestigatio7648 I'm so sorry you had to suffer, but please don't condemn or judge others by your sad and hurtful experience. My prayers for you. Peace be with you.
This was perfect! I was leaning towards veiling, but wanted to know the “why” and didn’t just want to follow others without knowing why as if it were trendy. Thank you!
@@MrWarrenwest don’t feel like that at all. Did you listen to the video? 🤔 there are many controlling things happening these days, showing reverence to God and humbling ourselves with a veil isn’t one of them in my opinion.
Though not gonna lie..... In a purely aesthetic sense they are actually very pretty - something elegant and mysterious about it. My wife started veiling on her own after watching some videos about it and when I see her every Sunday - definitely makes me want to shape up myself and dress better too so I don't look like a schmuck next to her- but I'm reminded of her veil on our wedding day and now much I love her and strengthens my resolve to be a good husband.
@@gunblade7610 Have you noticed that the altar that represents our Lord is veiled? The chalice is veiled. The tabernacle is veiled on the inside and sometimes on the outside. Why? Because God's most precious Gift to us should be veiled against uncaring and sinful stares. Our bodies are veiled by our clothing because we are made in His image and we also have to guard against sinful eyes. We dress well and modestly to please our Lord and not to impress our neighbor. Peace and blessings to you.
In my home country Nigeria you would not be allowed into some Churches without the veil. In most novus ordo churches in Nigeria they won't let you go and receive Holy Communion without a veil. . Of course the western influence keeps getting stronger. I go to TLM now in America and so I am at peace with my veil. When I first came I was attending the novus ordo and it was so mortifying to be the only one veiling, recieving Holy Communion kneeling down and on the tongue. Peace at last.
I am very fortunate to have a priest at our NO mass who is VERY traditional. He chants the Agnus Dei, says the prayer of St. Michael and there is no hint of praise music or any such nonsense. I would say a full 1/3 of the women/girls there wear a veil. A lot of them are young which was kind of shocking to me when I first started going there. I'm glad to see they're making a come back!
Absolutely. I do every time I enter church or the Adoration Chapel. Reverence, respect, modesty and to remind myself that I am under the authority of Christ the King. In love with the Lord.
Thank you for the beautiful explanation. I would like to share another beautiful explanation for vailing. In Catholicism, traditionally, sacred things are vailed or covered..... eg. the tabernacle, the consecrated wine in a chalice, the monstrance canopy during a procession, etc. When a women covers her head it can be a sign that she is a sacred vessel as well because God places a human body with a soul in her womb when she conceives and carries. Sorry if this is not too theologically accurate, but i just wanted to share it.
I have just started traditional Latin mass and have just started wearing the veil or the Mantilla and I really enjoy it. I really enjoy seeing all the little toddler baby girls wear them too so cute 🥰
Almost all the women at my TLM church wear veils or hats. Even the little tiny girls! So cute! I have noticed that these little girls are calmer and more focused, as am I. It closes me into my own thought and prayers.
Hello Dr. Marshall yes of course !! It’s a wonderful feeling women should wear it young ladies should wear it little girls should wear it I follow my grandmothers tradition my mother wore it and I’ll do it now I wear it I would not even step inside the church without my veil !!!!!it is my devotion It’s just one more step to get closer to God 🙏🏻👌🌹
I have been wearing a vail to church since 2015. I do it out of respect to Jesus. I'm very comfortable wearing my veil to church and I encourage others to do so as well.
I love the nuptial imagery of the veil and the priest acting as Christ the bridegroom feeding His bride, the Church. What is the Eucharist but a foretaste of the Wedding of the Lamb?
I read the bible and it was impressed on my heart to wear it even though it's not a latin mass and nobody else does, it makes it such a more intimate, private and distraction free experience and I know it pleases The Lord so that is everything for me, if women go back to the practice it will help the church body🥰
Just began wearing a veil and it makes a great difference to concentration and reverence. Just a thought though - dress should be modest otherwise just the veil will look out of place. With some circles, it has become a fashion statement with colorful veils to match the dress. Is it necessary? Veils were white for virgins, black for married women and thats how it should be. No distractions at Mass even in this area.
Wow as a man i did not know about the white vs black, neat. I almost wish men can have something like horse blinders and just look towards the Alter and our missels at all times.
If the veil blends in with the dress, I see nothing wrong with that. Even some pictures of the Blessed Mother show her with a blue veil. It is not the color thats important but the fact that covering your head as a woman in the presence of Christ, shows reverence for Our Lord.
I think colored veils are acceptable as long as they are not exaggerated and loud. Pastels, creme, beige, grey tones, understated colors are just fine. Black and white are traditional colors, but there is no rule. I'm a widow and I do wear a black veil. It was my mother's veil that my father gave me after she died. I had a beautiful beige veil before that.
The reason I love ❤️ wearing a veil in Mass and/or Adoration is because it draws me closer to OUR LORD YESHUA when I do have it on…….. and my focus to Him is enhanced….. it’s hard to describe! 🙏🏼🇺🇸🕯💔
My daughters and I have been veiling for about 10 years. It’s such a beautiful tradition. I feel closer to the Blessed Virgin when I am wearing a veil. It keeps the reason we are in Mass (to worship) front and center. I believe that there are no hard and fast rules on color, but I do stick to darker colors and all my unmarried daughters stick to lighter colors and white. I think it’s a personal choice. There are many good veil companies online and on Etsy. Thanks for this video Dr Marshall!
Wow…….amazing…….I have already started veiling and felt called to do this by Mother Mary - I had a very clear and specific experience of Mary asking me to veil. I appreciate this deepening of the meaning of veiling.
Yes .. definitely! That’s My answer! I’m 71. .. So I’m old school! When I was young, I carried a scarf always with me in my handbag ., in case I wanted to duck into a church., to sit or receive a sacrament, I’d go roller skating on Saturdays . I had to Pass my church on the way home so I would, almost every Saturday, go to Confession and afterwards hang out for a while talking with the other priest (and we also had a Bishop as well who went on to become Cardinal Of Sydney. His name was Cardinal Freeman., he was a wonderful man and Priest).. His diocese was the same as Cardinal Pell but years before., I’d hang out with them because that was in the good old days when we had the CYO . (The Catholic Youth Organization ) and the Church in your area organized dances and netball games and picnics near the river or beach., doesn’t exist anymore.. another thing gone). My sister met her husband at the CYO., Anyhow even when ., like everything else., they reversed the “cover yr head rule”., I continued to cover my head, It’s just seems to disrespectful to go into a church (if I can get into one) without my head covered. I will do that until I die. Recently my sister died and a High Mass was conducted., I was quite surprised to see about half the women had their heads covered ., so maybe it’s coming back., I hope so! A church is a consecrated place., surely it’s not a big ask?
You are so right. I remember the Nuns taking a piece of kleenex and pinning it to the little girls head if she forgot her covering. It was all so normal back then but now all our traditions are long gone. I miss a lot of them.
This was a very interesting program. Yes, I too remember wearing a head covering and always being dressed modestly during the 1940s-1950s - no veils. I remember hats including tams, kerchiefs, handkerchiefs (and on occasion a tissue) with a bobby pin to hold it. St. Paul notes head covering as does the 1917 code. The only mention of veil is by Linus. As for black, only widows wore black back then to Mass (I think the custom was for a year but many simply continued). A young or married woman would not wear black outfits in church unless they were attending a funeral. Children never wore black, even to a funeral. Today, nothing prevents a woman from wearing any type of head covering to Mass said in English if she chose. If it's important to any woman, then simply do it.
I watched this video on Friday. I paused in the middle of it and prayed for God make my wife and daughters choose to wear veils at mass. This morning my oldest (and often most rebellious daughter) chose all on her own to wear a veil. Glory to Jesus Christ.
100% ABSOLUTELY. Study 1 Corinthians 11 where it goes into this. When I studied this and realized EVERYTHING sacred in church is covered, it made complete sense. Also, Christian women are called to be submissive to God AND their husbands. Women today have an issue with this, but to be fully submissive in faith makes you realize it isn't about you being less than, it is you being seen as protected and sacred. Proverbs teaches us that a virtuous woman's value is worth more than rubies. So many things in the Bible speak to the sacred feminine and why we should embrace veiling at mass. I fully veil at my novus ordo parish and EVERY Catholic Church I go to. I've only received nothing but support from others and have even seen other women starting to veil as well.
You are a great role model for the many young women in our Church! I only feel respect towards the women in my parish, who chose to veil themselves, in one way or another, because, as you say, it explicitly shows that they understand their role in the Church and especially their piety as a virtuous woman is protected, preserved and sanctified through their efforts of maintaining it! God bless you, sister!
I was born in 1952 and, If I remember correctly, women stopped wearing veils and hats in my church in Toronto soon after the closure of Vatican 2. Thank you for your dedication to spreading knowledge and Truth. May God bless you and your family
Since I started going to Latin Mass about 5 yrs ago, I wore back my veil which I used to do early 70's with my mom but as the years went by everyone dropped wearing it, little by little. But now I got used to wearing it again. I believed it was the Blessed Mary influenced me bc I started wearing it when I devote myself praying Rosary 📿 daily. Btw...I have 3 different color purple, beige, and black. I wear black most of the time bc I'm married. I used only the purple during advent and holy week to match the color inside the church....just my personal choice!
I started attending TLM this summer. I ordered a veil and didn't think I would have it in time but it came the day before my first TLM so I was happy to wear it. I haven't been back to my dry parish NO mass but I wear my veil when I go there for Adoration. I wear it to be respectful and to try to imitate Mary. I think it's a wonderful devotion and am just sorry I didn't start sooner.
Good point but it’s how they are sometimes . I have a feeling they know I am more trad - so they kind of shun me and it is disappointing of course that so many NO Types are ignorant about reverence and the Mass . I think God wants me to be me though so I keep on doing that . Our former priest used to give communion to us at a kneeler so we could choose to kneel and receive on the tongue - new priest stands with no kneeler in front of him now and has the 2 female EM with kneelers - that hurt me . He’s moving in a modern direction . We have an sspx near and I will go there soon - never been there but I must check it out now .
The day I put on the Veil again was so meaningful to me. I was still attending the Novus Ordo so I got some weird looks. When I found a Church were the Traditional Latin Mass was being said I knew I was back home and the Veil felt so right there. It also brought memories of childhood, flooding my senses. Yes wearing the veil is something very special
Doc Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam ! the women here in Cebu Philippines still wear the montoya...also when I lived in San Antonio Texas the women there also wore great topic Sir! shows a deep reverence and sign of respect to the Church
I felt inspired after attending Adoration. I didn't know what it was so like everyone I looked it up and learned about veiling. Personally, I don't like lace so I bought a plain black ( a blue one) cotton veil to pray in...personally of you are asked to step up......like St. Faustina, Padra Pio and St. Benedictine then you too should step up. It helps me focus....so maybe I need it more than others. Thank you for your post. 🙏
When I came back to the Church as an adult, I was shocked to see that women were not covering their heads in the sanctuary. I remember a nun bobby pinned a Kleenex on my head when I forgot my Mantilla for school Mass.
Yes iv been veiling for 2 years Jesus put it on my heart to do it, I stopped for a few weeks and I put it back on and iv never visited church with out it 👑✝️🕊🙏🏼🙌🏼
Thank you for saying that it's between you and God. I've been wearing a veil for a few months, I felt called to wear one, I don't attend a TLM, I don't feel judged by others, women either don't say anything or I've been told "you look lovely wearing your veil", I say "thank you" and that's it. No one has asked me why I wear one, at least not yet. So I'm watching this video to determine my own reasons for wearing one and so far everything you've said is spot on. I don't feel uncomfortable even though I'm the only one who wears one, bar one other lady who referred me to VEILS BY LILY out of Missouri and that's where I got my first veils from. I love God, He wants me to wear a veil and be an example for others. Simple. I can do that.
A priest once homilized, ( triple word score) “We spend more time on our hair than we do in prayer. The deadest part of our bodies (the souls of some, notwithstanding) receives more daily attention than spending time with God.” Being follicularly (double word score) challenged, I took exception, but the point was well made.
Thank you Dr Marshall for this...It helps to know the why. Your explanation of the order and the beauty within this order is enlightening. Much love in Jesus.

I always wear a Veil at mass.

When we forgot we wore a kleenex as a head covering in the 40s and 50s.
If one follows the Bible it is correct to wear a veil Corinthians explains it quite clearly .🌅⛪🌅
Bless You Dear Girl ❤️🙏 Do what is right, even if you are the only one
Brave, yes! & I pray it returns. 55 years of watered down mass.
So proud of you honey1 Just keep doing the right thing and know that Our Lord and Our Lady walks very close to you through this journey because you have let them. God Bless you.
Good for you, that's awesome.
Something similar happened to a dear friend of mine. Wearing a veil never so much as occurred to her before. Her story meant a lot to me.
Diana...That is interesting! Did your dream come out of the blue, or were you kind of contemplating wearing one , but thought you were not ready yet?
I would like a return to the Communion rail and the Eucharist on the tongue.
@@j2muw667 yes, we do not use extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers either..
RELIGION..... on the tongue etc. Jesus and His people NEVER had thought of such IGNORANT traditions
When the priest sees your head covered he will recall the traditional doctrines of the Church and will not be as likely to embrace modernism - which is man's path." "Will you be a sign for Me?" "Yes, Lord, whatever YOU ask of Me, I will do."
Since obeying ad embracing the Lord's command every time I enter a chapel, He has supplied me a multitude of graces, and a number of challenges.

I think it is very beautiful for women to wear a veil in a church. It’s almost like going to a wedding, for Christ is the ultimate bridegroom.
You put it beautifully.
If our Lady wears it, then I'll do it too
yes that’s exactly why i veil! when i walk down the aisle to receive our Lord i imagine Him waiting at the end of the aisle, and that it’s our wedding. Communion is the bridegroom(Jesus) and bride(us) becoming one, just like in a wedding!
Best decision i made several months ago! A true devotion to our Lord.

Yes about the dignity. Your videos have been life changing for my family.

Yes! I am reading that book right now! The more I read about her the more I am blown away! I can’t wait to meet her!

I ordered my first mantilla online and sent it off to get a comb sewn into it. As I prayed the rosary, I asked Mary to help me receive it in time for my first TLM. @Simi Sami Mantilla is Spanish for veil. Generally, the mantilla is longer and wider and more elegant than the veils more commonly worn.

Ma'am, it's lovely to read and hear the words of a lady who seems to value and be happy being a woman.

I do for 2 years now and I love wearing it. I love Jesus to show him respect and it makes me concentrate on him.

I’m not catholic but sometimes at home I like to cover my head when praying. It feels like it’s just God and me without distractions.
I like woman in Italia same with woman in my country NO veil to church.
@@feederbureauofinvestigatio7648It look like muslim right? When we use veil?
Thankful to our Lord for bringing you into His Church! God bless you and yours dear sir! You are so needed! 💥❤️🙏🏼✝️🕊💥
I have a feeling God is telling me to wear veil at church. Thank you so much for making this video.
This was perfect! I was leaning towards veiling, but wanted to know the “why” and didn’t just want to follow others without knowing why as if it were trendy. Thank you!
control as in slavery
@@MrWarrenwest huh?!
I’ve been praying that you would do a video on this very subject! Praise God.
I still have my beautiful black lace mantilla....so elegant to wear to Mass for the glory of God... JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU.
Hello Dr. Marshall
yes of course !!
It’s a wonderful feeling
women should wear it
young ladies should wear it
little girls should wear it
I follow my grandmothers tradition my mother wore it and I’ll do it now
I wear it I would not even step inside the church
without my veil
!!!!!it is my devotion
It’s just one more step to get closer to God
🙏🏻👌🌹
I have been wearing a vail to church since 2015. I do it out of respect to Jesus. I'm very comfortable wearing my veil to church and I encourage others to do so as well.
Veils by Lily! A small company located near St Louis, MO makes great veils! Many of the women at our TLM communities wear their veils.
I love the nuptial imagery of the veil and the priest acting as Christ the bridegroom feeding His bride, the Church. What is the Eucharist but a foretaste of the Wedding of the Lamb?
If you fell it’s the right thing to do for you it doesn’t matter what others think Amen ❤️💕❤️
I had a beautiful beige veil before that.
white is for single ladies and black for married.
@@dianawilde417 That is a cultural tradition and not in Canon law.
Since I started attending the TLM since April 2021 I wear a veil - happy to do so
Me too 🙂
I was taught that in the old testament, all sacred things were covered with three veils, i.e. the Tabernacle. It is an honor to wear the veil.
Veils By Lily is a great place on line !! Wonderful podcast Dr. Marshall.
I attend the TLM in Sunday’s and the NO during the week. I wear a veil at both and naturally at Adoration. 🙏🕊🙏
Thank you so much Dr Marshall for the answer to my long waited question.
There is dignity, beauty and sacredness in veiling. Watch the video "Velamento I - veiling".
The reason I love ❤️ wearing a veil in Mass and/or Adoration is because it draws me closer to OUR LORD YESHUA when I do have it on…….. and my focus to Him is enhanced….. it’s hard to describe! 🙏🏼🇺🇸🕯💔
♥️♥️♥️👌🏼♥️
Who is Lord Yeshua? Is he like Lord Krishna? I only know Jesus Christ. That's what scripture says.
@@danteprudente8637 Yeshua is Hebrew for Jesus. It means the deliverer.
Pp
Wow…….amazing…….I have already started veiling and felt called to do this by Mother Mary - I had a very clear and specific experience of Mary asking me to veil. I appreciate this deepening of the meaning of veiling.
Veils by Lily has a wonderful selection of mantillas and a very informative Q&A section as well.
It reminds you where you are and helps keep you focused on what you are doing. I wish that those days were back.
Yes .. definitely!
That’s My answer!
I’m 71. .. So I’m old school!
When I was young, I carried a scarf always with me in my handbag ., in case I wanted to duck into a church., to sit or receive a sacrament,
I’d go roller skating on Saturdays . I had to
Pass my church on the way home so I would, almost every Saturday, go to Confession and afterwards hang out for a while talking with the other priest (and we also had a Bishop as well who went on to become Cardinal Of Sydney. His name was Cardinal Freeman., he was a wonderful man and Priest).. His diocese was the same as Cardinal Pell but years before.,
I’d hang out with them because that was in the good old days when we had the CYO . (The Catholic Youth Organization ) and the Church in your area organized dances and netball games and picnics near the river or beach., doesn’t exist anymore.. another thing gone).
My sister met her husband at the CYO.,
Anyhow even when ., like everything else., they reversed the “cover yr head rule”., I continued to cover my head,
It’s just seems to disrespectful to go into a church (if I can get into one) without my head covered.
I will do that until I die.
Recently my sister died and a High Mass was conducted.,
I was quite surprised to see about half the women had their heads covered ., so maybe it’s coming back., I hope so!
A church is a consecrated place., surely it’s not a big ask?
Do you remember women would place a tissue on their heads if they had forgotten a veil? Lol.
Veils by Lily are beautiful and they have a great selection....for those interested ❤ I got mine from them and I love it!
In the 50's we would not have considered going into church without a head covering. NEVER!
You are so right. I remember the Nuns taking a piece of kleenex and pinning it to the little girls head if she forgot her covering. It was all so normal back then but now all our traditions are long gone. I miss a lot of them.
@@dobybeau Bring back the traditions and don't just mourn them. Evangelize by example if not by word.
In the movie The Trouble With Angels you can see some girls running into the church and putting a tissue on their head. Love that old movie! 😆
My grandmothers would veil and I always wondered why. You hardly see it nowadays but knowing why it’s done it makes sense.
I am honored to be able to attend the Traditional Latin Mass and always wear a veil. It's a sign of respect.
Thank you for addressing this subject. I wear a veil to Mass as a sign of respect. God bless you.
Thank you Dr. Marshall. I think it was so decent of you to discuss this. God bless you and your family.

Colour does not apply to married or single, you can wear any colour but maybe a nice bright one for feast days though.
@@caroline-9672 thanks...next time I will buy a white one. God bless 🙏
I love wearing my veil at Church every single time. ♥️
That wasnt Dr. Marshal that commented on your comment. Scammers.
I like the veil and women should NOT be scorned by nouveau ordo types for wearing it
Good point but it’s how they are sometimes .
One day, a couple years ago, I just felt compelled to start veiling in private prayer and at Mass. It's va practice I've truly come to treasure
When I came back to the Church as an adult, I was shocked to see that women were not covering their heads in the sanctuary. I remember a nun bobby pinned a Kleenex on my head when I forgot my Mantilla for school Mass.
I had to giggle a little over the Kleenex.
Yes I remember the Kleenex pinned with Bobby pin at daily mass in school gym.
Thank you Dr Marshall woman need to hear this.
Thank you very much for the video, I'm also wearing my veil when I go for Holy Mass every time 🙏
A priest once homilized, ( triple word score) “We spend more time on our hair than we do in prayer.
I absolutely love the veil. It shows respect for the church and ones self. I love tradition. Every is so water down and it's not getting any better..🙏
