It’s important to keep an open mind, actively demo cables, keeping your source constant, test track constant, iem constant, ear tips constant, only the cable is variable. Listen and feel the music and what attributes different cables offer to the sound.
I love upgrading cables, mainly for aesthetics and build quality. I don't expect improved sound for the money, I spend to have reliability and durability, and something beautiful to look at :)
I recently pulled out a NiceHCK purple cable I put away for more than a year just to test whether there's any difference in sound compared to what I usually use which is the Kinera Ace (V1). The NiceHCK cable sounds sharp and thin with muddied bass compared to the Ace. I guess there was a reason I put it away in the first place.
There is a difference. I had one 6ncopper cable for my b2d. It broke. So I used a cheaper silver platted cable and the sound was different and I had to buy back the same 6n cable to get back the same sound. I also demoed a gold and silver cable, and it sounds fantastic. Just that it cost almost US$1500. Beyond my budget
Wow.. you even went and bought back the same cable.. u must hv loved how it synergized. Ya.. gold and silver is ultra expensive. I can get a really end game iem by tat price. Haha
I believe cable do matters in how we received the sound. From my experience and several review, changing cable tends to reduce high frequency (i have HBB x Olina SE which has excessive sibilance) so the low & mid freq can be pronounced more. That's why many people think cable only make "defect" sound as i don't care myself as long as i enjoy listening the music using the configuration itself (iem, eartip, cable and if any DAC) BUTTT... , i don't think i'll buy cable higher from my preferred budget because changing cables is same as EQ-ing and usually people buy cable for aesthetically more than the sound itself
Hahaha.. i think EQ is more sensible too. And its free. Just some part of me, deep down in heart wishing to do things the analogue way, which is to swap cable. Hahaha.. it make zero sense to be honest. I guess its just a excuse to spend money to fulfill that crave. XD
My case is MP145 with stock cable is way to sibilant. Even changing to red nozzle and put foam in the nozzle. So I swapped with Tangzu Fudu cable and it changed the sound, at least the treble were rolled off. Rn using balanced nozzle. Idk what $1000 do better but cable rolling is definitely a thing ig
yes, they DO matter for build quality/longevity, comfort, versatility (with the changeable plugs), aesthetics. the rules of our reality dictate that they absolutely DON'T in any way, shape or form (unless they're badly designed super thick resistive BS that affects the impedance) affect the sound. if you hear 'warmer bass from copper than silver' or some other easily disprovable BS, it's literally all in your head. and that's a fact you have measuring equipment. it should be easy ;) [and everyone who has measured cables so far, be they speaker, interconnects or headphones of various kinds, has confirmed the science: no change in sound]
For me cable is just aesthetics and built quality .. nothing more I do not hear any noticeable improvements . I do not mind using Effect Audio Cable for my favorite IEM MP145 but I do not expect any significant change in sound
Cable does matter and makes an IEM sounds different ... even beginners can hear the difference, just don't understand why those so called KOL always said it does not matter.
I believe cable composition matters. I have experienced the sound differences personally. 6N OFC sounds warmer and fuller that 5N silver plated OCC. I’m just skeptical of the prices. I’ve never spent more than $50 on a cable and I am not sure I ever will… you’re right, however, I’d have to try it first and have an iem that merits it.
Do you have extra money? Is there something about the stock cable you absolutely dislike? Do you need to change the termination? I hope this answers your question
Haha.. depends on which aspect u want to improve upon. If its me, i would use a silver cable, cuz H4 lack bit of that treble sparkle and need more air too. Haha
ive upgraded to a 7n occ pure copper cable , it makes the bass more controlled and rounded , stopping midbass to bleed into midrange , but at the cost of losing details ,overall make the whole tuning sounds meatier and have havier note weights, been testing with stock cable and thats what i found for my hype 4
Its expensive if u dive into cables. 20k pw audio cables to thousand over venom to hundred over ea cables. Silver plated copper plated gold plated. It really very expensive. If i buy my wife will use it to hang me.

I've always enjoyed responding to "Do cables effect audio?" with "No, but Effect Audio do cables."
Hahaha..🤣🤣🤣
Great video Jordan! Eddie's cables are beautiful! Unfortunately my money tree is very dry...Someday!
Wait for you to water your tree and get one soon. 😉

Yes cables do make a difference.
How? is it significant
Depends on your budget and preference. I pair my mkiiis with EA Cadmus FE which almost cost the same amount
U money tree.. my idol 😛
