Did you have to get a power commander for the fueling or did the motorcycle ecu adjust the fueling adequately enough?... I have the same setup on my Thrux R.
Agreed, have to say that Triumph do make good exhaust choices for their bikes. I actually think that Triumph use V&H for their original exhaust?! Correct me if I'm wrong.
I can understand your pleasure at these mods because I did similar on my T120. Vance and Hines plus xpipe. It isn't much louder but the engine does feel more free and it is more fun in low gears in town. Good job for doing it yourself! I am not so patient ha ha. Keep up the good videos.

Anything you do CAN void the factory warranty, but they'd have to prove your mods caused the failure. Like, changing the exhaust pipe didn't cause the brakes to fail or the oil pump to seize, etc.
No, it is technically illegal to remove it but there is a lack of enforcement. Motorcycles don’t have to have inspections at any time even if sold to a new owner. Only issue for me would be if I needed engine warranty work.
Would it make a difference if I removed catalytic converter and installed nex x pipe from the other side of the bike? Not the side where the kickstand is.
Im sure that would work, I did have to loosen both sides of the frame rails to give myself enough room to get it out though. So either side should be ok!
It's not live sound I'm hearing but the stock has more low mid frequency & a deeper bark to it which is my preference. The mod has more clarity to the sound but not as much a classic Triumph exhaust note rumble IMO. BUT this "torque" aspect to the mod you mentioned is another deal maker to consider. Is it? Well done Adam!
Main reason for Vance and Hines is the looks but then you didn't give us a shot of the looks difference. Also could you list which tools I need for each job?
He didn't check that unfortunately ! For the price of the x-pipe, I think it's not mandatory to put those V&H slip ons. On any 2 cylinder Triumph bike, you could improve the sound and response just by removing the cat converter which is very restrictive.
Nice set up. Just fitted the same x-pipe to my speed twin this evening. You mention torquing everything up... where have you found the torque settings for the frame bolts? Can’t find them anywhere. Cheers. 👍🏻
How much weight did you save? I’m curious if you weighed the slip ons and x-pipe before you put them on and weighed the stock mufflers and cat after you took them off. I went to a Triumph dealership yesterday to look at this exact bike and I definitely think this will be my first upgrade. Also thinking about ohlins on the rear.
I don’t think this bike needs the help from a power commander, in another video I do change the air filter out for more air flow. I personally hate the way exhaust wrap looks, so I avoid it even if it does lock in some of the heat!
@@AdamCroll Would you atleast suggest a dyno tune one time if I do the whole exhaust set up you've done as well as an air filter on the speed twin? I’ve never done a dunk run on any bikes, it would be cool to know what’s going on with the performance. Everything I’ve read says the triumphs ECU adapts pretty well on its own.
Would removing the cat effect emissions? Here in the U.K. any vehicle once it reaches three years old must have a test every twelve months including emissions.
So Sad !! Here in Washington state, all emission s testing ending 2020 ! Motorcycles were never included ! So, if you weren't concerned with warranties/ contracts of service , motifications/ performance upgrades are possible shortly after taking possession . If you know what you're doing/ builder , these bikes are great candidates for all sorts of improvements. Cheers
I never tested that as I put the silencers on first. But from what I’ve been told it’s almost the same tone and sound. The V&H pipes just look better (IMO) probably not worth the extra money though.
I'm curious about octane before and after the decat, booster plug and exhaust mods. I know the manual recommends 87 but California being what it is, I'm wondering what you run and if you've tried 89 and 91. Any issues? Performance improvement?
Which setup sounds best?! are the V&H silencers worth the money for their good looks?

Very nice seat, is it deeper than the original?
So stock pipes and a decat will do the trick? 🙏👌🏼Trying to save $$$😜
Yes I think that would sound almost the same!!
yes, exactly
@@AdamCroll Thanks. And keep up the documentation of the evolution of your beautiful bike 💙
Yes it will. Mine sounds great with just the TEC de-cat added.
@@alm4132 did the same and the results are brilliant 👍
Nice vidéo. How is the sound with x-pipe and stock silencers ?
He didn't check that unfortunately ! For the price of the x-pipe, I think it's not mandatory to put those V&H slip ons. On any 2 cylinder Triumph bike, you could improve the sound and response just by removing the cat converter which is very restrictive.
@@MrToonfish OK, thanks.
Adam. Did you have to check the fueling after the x pipe? Did you experience any disruption or chnage to the map by triumph ? Thanks man
Did you have to get a tune.... After the x pipe installation
First I did a booster plug, then I removed that and did a ecu flash.
Where did you buy the Vans and Hines. I can't find them online...
From my dealership directly from triumph.
Nice set up. Just fitted the same x-pipe to my speed twin this evening. You mention torquing everything up... where have you found the torque settings for the frame bolts? Can’t find them anywhere. Cheers. 👍🏻
I used thruxton torque numbers 😛
@@AdamCroll I used an impact gun!
Riders ! There is a standard torque scale per bolt size available on the web / dealer . Default your owners/manufacturers shop manuals.
Cheers
How much weight did you save? I’m curious if you weighed the slip ons and x-pipe before you put them on and weighed the stock mufflers and cat after you took them off. I went to a Triumph dealership yesterday to look at this exact bike and I definitely think this will be my first upgrade. Also thinking about ohlins on the rear.
Is there any way to fit a centre stand ??
Adam, where did you purchase your rear bobbings from ????
Amazon! the triumph thread is 8mm. here is a link: amzn.to/2RCnrQu
How would one get the x-piped shipped to CA for off-road use of course?
I had it sent to my sister in Colorado, then she shipped it to me.
I had mine shipped to my sister in Pennsylvania. She sent it to me in California.
Fuck that ! Do what ever you want to your bike !! Do you have emission testing for motorcycle s there ?
Rubbish!!
Would you recommend a power commander if I were to change the air filter too? And what do you think about wrapping the exhaust?
I don’t think this bike needs the help from a power commander, in another video I do change the air filter out for more air flow. I personally hate the way exhaust wrap looks, so I avoid it even if it does lock in some of the heat!
@@AdamCroll Would you atleast suggest a dyno tune one time if I do the whole exhaust set up you've done as well as an air filter on the speed twin? Also, I'm fine with the looks, but I've heard that wrapping can actually be bad for the bike in the long run. I aim to die old, but still on my bike. Do you know anything abou that?
I’ve never done a dunk run on any bikes, it would be cool to know what’s going on with the performance. Everything I’ve read says the triumphs ECU adapts pretty well on its own.
adam, the stock exhaust is the original from the speed twin? if yes, why the vnh sounds nearly the same with the original one?
Would removing the cat effect emissions? Here in the U.K. any vehicle once it reaches three years old must have a test every twelve months including emissions.
So far in the US motorcycles are exempt from emissions testing. Keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way!
Motorcycles in the UK do not undergo emissions testing in the MOT.
Cheers
Hows the sound with stock exhaust + x pipe?
I never tested that as I put the silencers on first. But from what I’ve been told it’s almost the same tone and sound. The V&H pipes just look better (IMO) probably not worth the extra money though.
Nice job!!
I'm curious about octane before and after the decat, booster plug and exhaust mods. I know the manual recommends 87 but California being what it is, I'm wondering what you run and if you've tried 89 and 91. Any issues? Performance improvement?
I’ve tried 89 on a few occasions and did not notice any difference.
I couldn’t find the VH for speed twin online, can you provide the site you bought it from? Appreciate it.
I purchased directly from my dealership
