Hey man! I really appreciate the content regarding the Speedy. There’s very little Speedy specific quality videos out there, besides for the reviews and some others here and there. Keep it up!

I watched this video when it was first uploaded, but didn't have a Speed Twin, but now I do! It's a bike I've dreamed about owning since I was a kid. But, as they say, dreams can come true, and I've just managed to buy a brand-new 2024 Speed Twin 1200, Stealth Edition in Sapphire Red/Sliver. Not only that, I've also managed to get hold of a pair of Öhlins rear shocks off the Thruxton 1200 RS which will be getting fitted very soon, plus there's a few more bits and bobs on the way. I can't wait, the bike has got a fantastic engine, but I was not too impressed with the standard rear shocks riding back home from the dealer, when I hit some very bad bumps at speed on the motorway! 😬
I love how TH-cam's automatic subtitle function puts "music" as the subtitle right at the moment the machine runs and those vance and hines pipes can be heard.
If you have one of these, the tail tidy is well worth purchasing. Tec, do excellent parts and this is easy to fit. Not only does it look better imo, but part of the problem with the stock is that you get a lot of crap thrown up your back in bad weather as the rear guard is so short. This doesn’t fix that entirely, but it does make it a lot better.
I fitted tec piggy back shocks on my Triumph, they lasted 11 months, as I initially bought them 14 months before, (sorned it), they didnt want to know, both shocks lost most of their pressure, one to 3llb and the other spewed oil and fucked me pressure gauge I have owned for 10 years, I now have YSS nitro shocks, no complaints at all with these.
Great video! I got my T120 in 2018 and I got it for it's a modern bike with classic personality. I was kicking myself when the Speed Twin came out a year later. Secretly waiting for Speed Twin bits to hit the parts market (rims, swingarm, brakes and rotors) . My T120's stock suspension wasn't stellar. Upgraded to Progressive shocks. I put the Tec Rebel 2-1 on my T120, damn good exhaust for the money. Cheers!
@@motobob 17' tubeless alloys would be Stellar so I could run (cheap n' common) 120/70 ZR17 tires.. My stock spokes are sealed now so I can run tubeless tires but finding a 18" front tire was problematic. Michelin Road 5 is a great shoes for these WC Bonneville variants. I'll definitely post a video once I go down that route! Cheers!
Excellent video. Headlight bezel is an improvement. The Vance and Hines do look a lot better than the stock pipes, with the decat they sound a lot better. That was a good noise comparison. Not sure my neighbours would approve :) I personally prefer the factory red and black colour scheme, which I've got . Plus I like to be seen. Top tip on not putting a cover on it whilst still warm. I might have done that had you not said. Usually my one goes straight into my bike shed. TEC also do some wilder camshafts for the Thruxton 1200, don't seem to be listing them for the Speed Twin 1200. I thought the engines were pretty similar, they might fit ! Personally I don't need anymore power , just yet... ;) . Also it was hard enough getting insurance as a newbie without performance parts .
If Triumph weren’t so hard to get where I live in the USA I would absolutely be riding them instead of Harley Davidson. They make the absolute best looking bikes in the world, IMO.
I saw a vid that showed the stock cartridge and springs in the front forks. Pretty shockingly bad and the worst thing about the handling of the bike. I get that the rear shocks have been changed for the blingy Ohlins. The forks, by all accounts, are a far more urgent thing to upgrade. But then, there's no hipster bling involved.
That's mean looking! the dart screen really suits it. How about a comparison between the speed twin and the BMW r nine t pure? (Happens to be what I'm lusting after at the moment) ;)
Yeah mate. Got the motivation atm. I think you’d have liked this speed btw. Much more like your Thruxton was. Way more aggressive with the decat, filter and V&H
I prefer the stock one. only doing the back suspension will make every bike to handle poorly... and I do like the brushed aluminium parts a lot more than just black. My only grippe with this bike is that the engine is all black.. .it "hides" all the details... secretly hoping for a Speed TWIN R on the 23/02/2021 unveil.
I had the pleasure of test riding the Speed Twin the other day. Tons of fun but I actually prefer the Bonne T120 seat for comfort. I would personally start with a slightly used 2016 Thruxton R, throw the Bonne seat and straight bars on it. The Speed Twin was a fun off-the-showroom-floor package but I still prefer the suspension setup of the Thruxton R with ergonomics from the Bonneville T120.
I understand what you’re saying, but to get the ergonomics off the T120 to the Thruxton, you also have to relocate the foot pegs. It’s always a compromise! If you change the Thruxton’s ergonomics you will loose its “racing ability”. My wife has the T120 chrome edition and I have a Speed Twin. The comfort of the T120 is amazing, but it’s definitely not great in the twisties. And I blame the ergonomics mainly for it. The Speed Twin is the golden middle way. At least for me 😊
Awesome custom job that really brings out the speed twin and makes up for the stock deficiencies. How do you maintain stability when accelerating and braking hard? The only answer I've found on the speed twin is to hang on harder.
Hi Brother really need your guidance. I m looking to put The handlebar in my Triump speed twin. I have seen that the wire of clutch is little short I wanted your advice can I change the wire with the Triump scrambler 1200 because it has a bigger wire than the Triump speed twin. please advise.
Try getting an honest insurance quote for a bike modified like this. You may get a nasty surprise either with the premium or worse, if having to make a claim when mods have not been declared.

I do like the fly screens. Have one on my t100 now, but I had one on my VMAX, but at the top it swept up. I loved that, but cannot find that style in any other fly screens. I do like the look of the speed twin over the t,s because of the pipes and the rear fender sweep. Long enough to keep mud off ur back, but short enough for that sporty look. I may upgrade. 865 ccs on these don't give u the hp for highway riding. 1200 would be better. Thanks guys.

Reference the front end. Before you spend big bucks. Check the fork oil level, air gap and oil weight. Mixing a 5 weight with a 10 weight will give you a firmer ride should you have a 5 weight oil as standard. Alternatively increasing/ decreasing the air gap by say 10% can make a big difference. Both of these are cheap fixes
Mmmmmm! Those Vance & Hines pipes are sex on a stick!!!!! That bass note is epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😋😋😋 When I owned a '92 Trident 750, I set the rear eccentric axle adjusters to the "high" position, dropped the front yoke about 30mm down the stanchions and fitted a front spring upgrade that consisted of Suzuki GSXR750 springs with spacer sleeves on top. And with slightly heavier fork oil, those simple mods made a huge difference to both the handling and braking. Especially with me being a 16+ stone rider.
I want to know what that front end conversion costs. I’m thinking $1.5k for the forks. Maybe another $1k for the radial brembos, couple hundred in hardware (assuming the clamps will work)
If you were getting the Thruxton R forks there’d be the bars to think about too. The top yoke wouldn’t have the clamps for the speed twin bars, but the speed twin yoke wouldn’t fit. So you’d have to use the clip ons, which would mean you’d be basically better off just buying a Thruxton?
Could save some $$ and go with some stuff from Hagon or even Nitron with some cartridge kits. Not sure if you can directly replace the ST brakes with the Thrunxton R brembos either.
