One more tip from an old guy who's been doing this a long time on a budget... You tore that hellgrammite into three pieces just to see how durable it was for us, and then just threw it in the trash can... If you take a torch style lighter you can melt them back together again and they work just as good as new(almost) you just got to be super careful not to burn your fingers as well... Hold them with your fishing pliers or a pair of hemos. This works for all kinds of plastics... The elastec however is a challenge but fairly unnecessary seeing how long they last anyway❤.
You should find someone to make hooks for making hellgrammite jigheads. I think if you did the same thing but bent the line tie 90* so it was still vertical that would massively improve how that rigging method performs in heavy wood cover
John to be honest man the way you hook the hellgrammite makes a load of sense to me. They are not that thick of a bait and when dragging them through the creeks and rivers it makes sense to me that you would get hung up less.
I like the look of the Great Lakes Finesse Snack Craw, too. Either as a finesse skirted jig trailer or by itself like a ned rig. But I haven’t tried it yet. I’ve been fishing Hellgramites for years. Thanks for the intro to another good option for smallmouth.
The Great Lakes Hellgrammites look very promising for creek fishing. They are a little larger than the Yum Hellgrammite, but I think it will work. If they are soaked in Yum juice there is a good chance they are going to get bit. Thanks for sharing this one John. God bless y’all.

Those Hellgrammites look INCREDIBLE!!!! Would love to try those out!
It’s going to be hard to beat the nikko hellgrammite. The best hands down

The Smallmouth love these here in Pennsylvania!

Sticking with the YUM’s. They have that Majic Action.

That is the prefect size hellgrammite

they are smaller than the yum
How does it compare to Nikko? Nikko makes awesome soft baits.
Like the size. Gonna order some and for bass. Thanks for the info and discount code.
Case baits out of Michigan has a 2in and 3 1/4in hellgramite.
Needs the floppy wiggle action like the real deal.
Good looking hellgramites. Worth taking a look
