RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPP! - NOT a Walleye! LOL! When I first heard the rip, I figured a nice Musky, there are some big ones now in Erie. Didn't realize some big Trout are there too.
Thanks for posting the video. I loved the camera angle and being able to see the fish hit. I do have a couple tips for you, as I do this type of fishing all the time. 1) Keep your clickers on (like you did) but have your drags as light as possible so that you hear it when a fish hits (like the second fish). However, once you grab the rod, tighten the drag a bit, turn the clicker off and then start reeling. 2) When a fish hits a rigger, before you take the rod out of the holder, reel as fast as possible to get it tight and then remove the rod from the holder. That reduces the chances of giving the fish slack and losing it. 3) If you have a bow mount trolling motor, run that on 3-4 setting along with your kicker or big engine for steering and auto-pilot. That way, when you get a big fish like you did, you can take the gas motor out of gear and just keep the boat moving forward with the TM while you focus on the fish. 4) With boards, you will need to tighten the drag to reel them in, but as soon as you take the board off, loosen the drag some or you will lose fish when they make that last run at the boat. I learned all of those things the hard way! Cheers! Nice brown trout! That was a monster.
I agree perch are tough to beat. However I would take a walleye caught anywhere other than the great lakes over anything else. Also bluegill and pumpkinseed sunfish are every bit as good as perch. Also agree with walleye cheeks and would add that cheeks from lake trout and chinook salmon are also very good.
Browns are territorial and are aggressive the white river in Arkansas has them 30-40” Fish eat fish and browns will swallow and feed on 14” rainbows in a blink so if u want protected trout waters ? Putting browns in would be almost disadvantaged They can also handle warmer water ? Another or more adaptable to it

@@RottenAnimal That's probably why we both watched the same exact video but you saw something that wasn't actually there, your half blind and senile grandpa. You can make whatever claims you want on TH-cam, most people do, but as previously stated you've obviously never fished planer boards before as it is quite common for the line that's attached to the planer to get WRAPPED AROUND THE FISH, especially large fish, when trolling. But of course your 50 years of "experience" fishing some backyard pond with cane poles and crickets wouldn't ever allow you too know that so go take your Geritol and a nap Gramps so you'll have enough energy to stay up for Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Even if the fish did happen to become foul hooked, they released it as is required by law so your incorrect point would be moot anyway so either way you look at it, your stating something erroneously FOR NO REASON because if the fish was hooked in the stomach, THEY OBVIOUSLY KNEW THAT, and there's nowhere in Fish and Game laws that say you have to announce that a fish was foul hooked when making a TH-cam video so either way you slice it there LITERALLY no point for your comment. Literally. Plus you've just proven that you're prone to making ridiculous ASSumptions by pretending that you would have some way to gage how old I am based upon my single sentence comment left on a TH-cam thread that infers absolutely NO INFORMATION about how long I've been alive but one thing I can guarantee you is this, regardless of any age gap that may or may not actually exist, I've LITERALLY at least one, mostly multiple, Master Angler award sized fish of about 90% of all the recognized game fish in the state of Michigan (not counting trash species) and after this summer targeting Sturgeon on the Detroit River I'm sure those numbers will be more like 92-93% and have the pictures to prove it like the 49.5 inch 36 pound Great Lakes Musky attached to the picture on this TH-cam account. So the lesson to be learned here is?..... going around ASSuming things about 💩 you're not actually sure of in life can only accomplish one thing and one thing only, make you look like a damn fool.
