    ❤ that Steven is focusing on health from this point of view. I started learning about this subject in late 90s early 2000s. Started with glyphosate in food, then Teflon in cookware, then aluminum and heavy metals in cosmetics. There's plenty of books on all these individual topics, but I do appreciate this overview captured in one interview. Hopefully, more people will start asking better questions and voting with their dollars by choosing healthy options. If everyone knows that Teflon is dangerous and stopped buying it, there will be no market for it. Steven's kids have a better chance now that he's informed. It's all about priorities. This topic of health and toxicity should concern everyone on the planet. We need to be the change.

    Came home one night to see the kids watching the Batman movie with Jack Nicholson as the Joker. Giving his famous monologue about how he put all the toxic chemicals in daily body care products. That would make everyone crazy like him.
    Told the boys that what they just heard him say is more truth than fiction 😅

    Just fyi, a lot of Korean skin care has clean ingredients because a youtuber named director pi got super influential and she started rating all diff products based on ingredients, calling companies out. Theres also a website called hwahae where they show you the breakdown of the ingredients based on toxicity/safety. Unfortunately, make up is a different story, but skin care specifically is known to be tailored towards 'sensitive' skin. For shampoo bodywash detergent etc, it's again, a different story. For these I would splurge a bit and buy non scented versions from whole foods.

    We all want healthy things on our body. The cost is more than 20% greater for most of these products. Fabulous information.

    • @FromDkWithLove
      @FromDkWithLove 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      I think 20% is conservative. Whenever I buy organic the cost is an extra 30-150% on top (from basic vegetables on the low end to organic meats being sometimes triple the cost). Even still though everything you buy on a daily basis, organic or not, is covered in plastics. it's everywhere in the soil and water too and even if we stopped producing it, it'd remain in everything we consume for centuries. No matter what we do or don't do, there's no avoiding it we're f*cked. Us knowing this and gaining knowledge doesn't help much.

      So why is more natural more expensive? They have less ingredients compared to the next one with 50. Seems like it would take more work to do all the fillers instead of as nature intended and makes it.

    • @francesclaibourn7220
      @francesclaibourn7220 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @stephenblackwell5533 I think natural and especially organic products are more expensive because:
      1. They don't use petrochemical byproducts as fillers.
      2. They work under a tighter set of production guidelines.
      3. They don't have economies of scale.

    I'm now so thankful my church frowned on cosmetics back in the 1950s - 60s! After my first hubby left (76), I was on the 'dating scene' again. By that time, I tried wearing some, but it felt too heavy, and other than a little lipstick (always Clinique), I Still don't use make-up, only for the Family Photo at Christmas! LoL

      ps .. the ONE Store I cannot walk into .... is a Health Food Store!!! Immediate SEIZURE!! They always have a Fragrance Diffuser on ...with a lethal dose of "perfume" squirting out!!! Doesn't matter whether it's "Country Nutrition" or "Whole Foods", they all think we need to be sprayed down with "essential" fragrance, I mean poison!! Sure, we should be very cautious and avoid plastics wherever we can, but the ingredients they put in fragrance ... It's not roses folks, it's toxic chemicals made to resemble roses (or whatever flower). Some of us folks, about 20%, are very sensitive to toxic items, including Plastic, and we are suffering immensely to warn others just how bad everyday living has become! I was a normal 19 yr old when my hubby bought a brand new mobile home for us back in 1974, with it's newly Formaldehyde-saturated wood paneling! Every single wall in that m. home had those toxic walls! I would get such horrendous headaches that would last till past sundown each day. Usually spent the summer (after work) at the mall just to avoid getting so sick. Tolerated 2 yrs of that! Then, I had 2 more exposures over the years, another Pesticide poisoning at work in 1990, and one smaller one in 2005, but that was enough to set me 'over the edge' far enough my body can handle very little. Thank God, Co-vid actually helped me to do better! A little hint: if you also have MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities) or care about someone who does, and you want a little light scent, stick with something that grows natural, but is near zero on the garden-allergy index, Mint is a good choice. And be aware of Scentsy dealers and other essential oil companies! ... they always insist their products are safe, but that is not the case for those with Asthma +/or MCS. Remember = Essential is not really essential. Marketing!!🙄😤

I know youth is a focus in just about every arena. Nonetheless, the “more than youthful” ( know the conflict in that ) exists. The pandemic left many in dire straits. Many, after the age of 50 found themselves out of a job and living off ( too early ) of what was to be retirement income. Where are such topics? I’m going to close here because I have so many topics. Thank you for what you do.

    Even things like Flouride, seed oils, margarine scare me. And because I try to minimise use of plastic I try to get Voss water which is glass (except for lid) and is free of the main chemicals. I have a steel water bottle. I rarely ever use sunscreen unless if I’m sure I’ll get burnt , I don’t use deodorants with aluminium as an ingredient. It’s only cost that prevents me from doing more.

    • @happycook6737

      I'd like to see a test on steel water bottles as I suspect many leech stuff into the water. I can taste a metallic taste in my water coming from my steel water bottle. Glass seems safer even though it is heavy and fragile.

      Cost has kept me from doing very much myself. I can help hopefully by suggesting staying away from as many fragrances as possible. So many cleaning products add Gain or Febreze to their products, I use baking soda or vinegar or water with a little lemon juice. You can Google "old-style cleaning-1920's", anyway, something like that. I shop for Fragrance-free as much as possible. Ecos is one I do well with and it's modestly priced compared to much of what's out there! Also, we use to wear perfume only for special occasions back in the 50s-60s and even into the late 70s. Then the fragrance industry decided people should "envelope themselves in parfum'. They encouraged applying often and in layers!! If you use must use, spritz a square of TP, and lightly wipe behind your knees! Older perfumes are usually Less-Toxic than newer ones...and I stay completely away from perfumes "made by" music celebrities, actresses, ect! That will help with the Toxic load on you and your family! Google "MCS" to find more hints! Best of luck!

    There’s an awful lot of speculation here. Correlation doesn’t prove causation. No doubt these chemicals cause harm on several levels but there’s little concrete proof of what she’s proposing here. E.g, that they cause obesity. Sitting still, playing computer games, looking at social media, must have a great effect: maybe greater than the chemicals.
