I have explained this fix to several Prelude owners over the years. Thank you for posting this very informational video, which makes explaining the repair much easier!
Thank you. This is definitely not a tutorial. Because I’m unprofessional. I felt very difficult to find or learn from the last 15 months. So I just want to share all my works to other prelude lovers. This is my purpose of all my videos.
My speedometer gauge has gone all the way around and rests facing directly down. Would I be able to get a magnet and rotate the gauge back around to zero? Or do I have to take the gauge cluster off?
I have soldered and my problem continues. Speedometer works intermittently, most of the time don't work. Any solution? Engine light on, code 17 and odometer works good.
Hello from Colorado. My 89 Prelude's speedometer works intermittently on most trips. It works correctly or shows 0 miles per hour, and will kick on and off. Do you think this is a speedometer cable problem? Thanks
Have u done the soldering that I showed in the video? You need to do the soldering. Speedo cable only causes the needle shaking. U can find 1 from wrecker to test or make a new one from speedo cable shop. Just take your cable to show them. It cost AUD$45 in australia.
@@BI-xs9id thank you for the info. no check engine light. I bought a cable but sounds like soldering could be the thing. I've not even started. :) Should I just do both?
Check all fuses and replace even if look good. Next are the relays under hood and under dash. Several components share paths and grounds/ power so it could be a bad wire or switch/ relay somewhere or just a loose connector. I suggest getting the 3rd gen electrical manual along with the main 2 volumes
Hey, a bit unrelated. When you replaced your engine mounts, did they perform well? Any vibration? Also did you use the ones from ebay? You're doing gods work with this channel
I used Boonma engine mount for Al sides. U can buy from Supercheap Auto if u are in Australia. Or u can buy from eBay - Trupro engine mount as Boonma engine mount. Same as buying from supercheap. www.ebay.com.au/itm/133061199047?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=P9NWRl_YSq-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=v2Acbab8Q86&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY www.ebay.com.au/itm/142731610852?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=P9NWRl_YSq-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=v2Acbab8Q86&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY www.ebay.com.au/itm/142731631713?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=P9NWRl_YSq-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=v2Acbab8Q86&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY www.ebay.com.au/itm/142731638686?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=P9NWRl_YSq-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=v2Acbab8Q86&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I used cheap Ebay and they're fine. Only problem are the bolt holes for attachment to sub frame needed to be opened up a bit as they're not aligned properly due to the OEM having a slight oval shape to one of them for ease of fitment. Other than that they work great

Awesome video ! Thank you
You're welcome~

You need to remove the cluster, then take off the cover to adjust the needle to zero(the first line). Be gentle when u adjust the needle.
nice work fam :)
Thank you

Check those 2 connection on the left and right of that white box.
I have replaced speed gauge and problem solved. Thanks
Coukd u show where that 11 pin connector goes on the speedometer
Read the manual

if you have a check engine light than you need to solder it, if not than its most likely the cable

I have the same problem right now.
Hi I have an 88 prelude and my gauge cluster lights aren't turning on when I turn my headlights on, what could be the issue?
Sorry, I’m not sure. I don’t have that issue. May be check your alternator voltage & battery first.

hey, i got the same issue, but a facelift model with the electrical vss. Do you think your solution would still work?
I’m not sure. But u can check. Could be the speed sensor as well.

But most important is the valve adjustment to reduce the engine vibration. 0.08mm & 0.16mm.

I have a 1990 prelude and my cluster motherboard looks completely different from this one...
May be u are the S2.
My 90 si is nothing like this
