- This is a review of the 1987 and 1988 AMA 250cc GP seasons. Kocinski was riding for Kenny Roberts and won the championship both years. Kocinski also won the 1989 AMA 250cc National Championship before moving up to the 250cc World Championship in 1990. He won that title in his first try and a few years later, in 1997, Kocinski also won the World Superbike Championship. This impressive resume ranks Kocinski as one of the greatest American racers.

I watched Kocinski very closely, and I mean every lap- from practice to the race, witnessing both the Sears Point Race in ‘87 and his Laguna 500 MptoGP win on the Cagiva. He rode on another level, for at least those two races that I was able witness John dominate! I mean, he wasnt always consistent, but when things clicked- nobody would touch John.
Thanks for posting , its a shame Kocinski never won a 500cc championship
Back when American motorcycle racing was in it's heyday.
F2 250cc - they were the best race bikes.
i miss those 250s. nothing sounds as good as the 250s... well... maybe the 500s
thank;s god,my legend still remind by moto gp grand prix...............john kochinski.
I wish Americans still dominated the GP. I’m not a fan of the modern Spanish saturation, which seems permanent.
Gary Cowan fixed him.
