    9000 rpm on a 14 by 6 that is one strong saito i run a13 by 6 with 5 percent nitro but i fly it in an old timer and it never gets above quarter throttle

      Sounds like you need a smaller engine on that airplane.

    Love saito engines, specially those with higher compression ratio designed for less nitro (maybe designed for markets where nitromethane availability makes it very expensive/ hard to find)

      I have never seen any Saito documentation stating that any of their engines were designed for FAI (0%) fuel. Dating back to the oldest manuals. So although high compression engines might run better on FAI fuel, I do not think Saito ever had that in mind in their engine designs.
      This isn't even the high compression ratio engine. Only the original FA-80 had the extremely high ration of 15..5:1.

    Nice Transition. Saitos like Nitro. Performance of a ASP80 is better regarding max rpm. Can you make a run with an APC 12x8 and the same fuel? I remember my OS FS70 Surpass II does 10000 rpm with the 12x8 and 10% Nitro.

      Although not the exact same engine, this video shows a run of a Saito FA-80 with a 13x6 which is equivalent to a 12x8.

      Peak RPM on a 4 stroke often puts it out of the max thrust/power band range, so I don't put much empahsis on peak RPM on 4 stroke engines.

    Hi Dave, how is that prop holding on with one lock nut ?. I had to put 2 on mine because every time I tried to start it would come loose ?.

      If yours was detonating and loosening the prop then your prime was too strong. As you see, that isn't an issue with this engine on this run. Not to say it hasn't happened to me before with other engines. Not all Saito engines came with locking nuts, especially the older ones. I purchased this engine used and it didn't come with them. I do not automatically put them on every engine, in fact very few of mine have them.

    Is this the same size case as the saito 65?? Sounds beefy. :) Thats sounds more powerful than my old OS FS 90

      Yes and of course it is. The FS 90 was not known to be a powerhouse.

    What weight range of airplane are these good for? What are used ones worth in good shape these days?

      I have flown airplanes from 6-9 lbs with these engines. Good used ones can range from $100-$200+. DO an eBay search for them in the used listings and you will see what some have sold for.
