    Always put my 8 year old Titleist 2 iron with steel shaft in the bag when struggling with the woods. Case in point, started scoring in the mid 90s last few weeks. Losing shots with the woods, yesterday after 5 holes was sitting 6 over, started hitting the 2 iron instead finished with 87. Today left all 3 woods in the car and only played the 2 off the tee and long fairway shots and averaged 245-250 yards hit 9 fairways, never lost a ball and shot 81. Both courses playing about 6700ish yards from the blues. Not for everyone and at 7000+ yards it might not do the trick but for me it's a sanity saver when I'm struggling with the woods.

    I ordered a U505 2i just the other day. I was getting fitted and the club performed splendidly from the first swing for me. It felt like I was hitting a 7 iron it was so easy to hit. I just had to add one to my bag. It'll be my go to long distance off the fairway club and an occasional driving iron. Really excited about getting my hands on it.

      Same, loved it. Hit 50 balls with it and was really happy with 48 of them. For me, that’s simply a no brainer. Didn’t try the T200 mind.

      @@krusher74 heh, unfortunately the success rate isn't quite as high since I brought it to the course, but it's still one of my favourite clubs to hit. I consider it my 240-250yds fairway finder off the tee, and a good option on approach from 220-230yds. I got the 3i, and considering the 4i now too.

    I have the t200 2 and 3 irons. Love them both. I use long irons over a 3 wood and a hybrid because I have way more confidence with the irons.

    I went for U505 3i for more stopping power especially long par 3 distance 210-220yrds. Gapping perfect between my T150 4i and 5woods. So confident with it!

    If you can get over the look and sound of u505 it's a great option, if you can hit it high, you can knock it down but the other way around is much harder.

    Was looking to add a 3 iron of the T200U into my T100s set, went and did a fitting and found that the 2 iron blended in better. The CG really throws the ball up and I could get it out there 240+ . It's a great fairway finder and a good option when skirting the canopy's when tee shots go astray. More versatile than a hybrid I find

    I chose the u505. Never want to play Titlest but it was the best one out of all I was fitted for. I need no help on launch, at all. I use the 505 3i with the x-stiff Hzrdous Black. I can hit it high and land it soft or hit low/stingers and move it both ways. It’s replaced my 4H bc it is more accurate and I can carry it 230 and land it on greens. The 200 was nice too but the forgiveness of the 505 and consistency was too good to pass up.

    Late to the commentary but going with U-505 in 2 and 3 iron (coming out of Srixon ZX MKIIs - good but mishits drop-off is hurting me). I'm pushing 60 but still carry good club speed and do not get along with hybrids and fairway woods. Will use for off the tee and from the fairway. Hit these at the PGA Superstore and the feel is great and the slightly higher launch is exactly what I'm looking for as my home course requires precise shots and carrys to fit between hazards regardless of the tee you play from. I get mine Friday and will immediately try out on the course.

    I’ve just ordered the T200 3i. The U505 is just to big for me and I struggled to shape it. This will be the first time I’ve used graphite as I’ve always stuck to steel. For players that prefer irons to woods, both are great alternative to hybrids

      I picked up a T200 4 iron and a U505 4 hybrid driving iron with RDX hybrid shaft to complement my 5-GW T300 set.
      Love the feel of the T200 iron and can't wait to try my U505 which I just bought.

    I tried the t200 3 iron yesterday and hit it better than the u505. I’m looking to have a second option to my 7 wood for windy days off the tee. Hybrids have never looked good to my eye. Sit too square too upright feel like it’s going left before I even hit.

    Micheal, I'd like a review of the 505 for mid clubhead speed golfers. Sure it works for 105+mph swingers, but what about people who swing the driver 90-95mph? That is a much bigger cohort. I cannot find a single TH-cam video of this club for the golfer with average clubhead speed that has launch monitor data. You may think that that golfer need a hybrid, but some (me included) cannot hit those clubs and the iron shape seems much easier to hit and control. The U505 seems to be the best option on the market for that (large) group of golfers. Thanks.
    For reference, I tried the u505 3 iron and ball speed was around 127-128. My carry distance was about 190.

      Hi Dan, I recently got sized up. Went in for a wood fitting and I struggle to hit them well. I’m
      New to golf, 24 handicap. My swing is about 85-90 mph. Carry with the 3 iron u505 would be about 180-190 with 200/210 total. The best thing for me was that it is easier to hit than my game imprivment 7 iron which is pretty easy to hit!

    • @krusher74
      @krusher74 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah. i swing long iron /5wood aboit 93/96mph and would like a off the tee driving iron, I am considering the 2 or 1! 505. but i dont know if my speed is enough to hit the 1 and further than the 2.

    I couldn't hit the U505 with the standard shaft. I think it was the Hzrdus Black. With the GD AD DI 85X Hyb shaft I could time the striker much better. It's important to get fitted.

    Its a shame they dont give you the 1 and 2 for demo too, I swing a club that length about 93/96mph and would like an off the tee driving iron for a few tight holes at my course andto hit lowere shots in the windy irish winter, but I dont know if my swing speed is enough for the 1 iron. (cant demo them anywhere near me either)

    I have Project X LS 6.5 shafts in my irons, they are 125g. What shaft weight would you recommend in a graphite shaft for a utility iron like these ?

    • @entertimkari
      @entertimkari ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know you weren't wanting a comment from someone else but I use the same irons and shaft as you. At a recent Titleist fitting I was recommeded the Project X HZRDUS Black 4G 90 HYB TSR shaft for a T200 utility. I also use the HZRDUS in driver and woods, which proably made the recommendation easier.

      They dont spend all that money and design time and re-tooling for nothing. Better off center hits is where clubs are progressing now. Might not hit further than the last one out of the middle, but the bad ones are bettter.

    I find it a bit puzzling that you launch this club at 10 and a driver at 12 or more. Not saying that is not accurate, just seems so odd that a club with massive sole weight still launches so low.

    • @MichaelNewtonGolf
      @MichaelNewtonGolf  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Driver ball is on the tee, ball position further forward in stance so hit up on it more. Iron from the ground is more of a downward blow……changes dynamic loft at impact, hence the launch differences 👍
