  • Thanks to Candela's groundbreaking technology, our boats have received worldwide acknowledgment and attention. This Tech Talk series gives you a unique opportunity to dive into our technology, explained by key people in each area.
    Episode 3: The C-Pod with Mechanical Engineer Claes Bonde and Electric Powertrain Engineer Tomas Löfwall.
    The Candela C-POD is the most efficient and longest-lasting boat motor ever built. Submerged, direct-drive electric motors provide an absolutely silent ride while eliminating transmission losses. Our Engineers Claes and Tomas will tell you more in-depth about our electric motor.

    " brilliant! Design is about reducing complexity" great quote

      One of Albert Einstein’s quotes is being fully exercised here, “Beyond complexity lies simplicity “.
      Absolutely love this video. What this video does is lets everyone else know to plan their retirement Now.

    Yes I've pondered this alot. A boat and electrification.
    And hydrofoil and hull out the water is the way to go.

    This is a great accomplishment, as you said you can scale up, just was wondering if you have implemented the design in CAD to see how big of a scale that it will be effective and efficient would work at what weight and proportion equivalent for this great design,??? 👍 great work

    As someone who’s worked in the boating world for a long time and seen some seriously terrible design with 0 thought for the poor souls that make boats run this is awesome. These guys get it and I look forward to the future of boating knowing what’s coming.

    Very cool.
    Is this possible on a holland steal boat at about 12 tonns ???
    And what will it be costing ??

    WOW...that drive system would be excellent for my Ground effect craft....I would be paying close attention to your progress....Am interested in operation and acquisition cost ..

    I sincerely appreciate your company's thought process and engineering and for sharing it with the world!
    I truly believe your groundbreaking achievements deserve the recognition of other recent leaps in technological advancement, like landing space rockets backwards, you folks are the SpaceX of boats!

    Wonder if this design could be scaled up for super yachts?

    • @badsawww
      @badsawww ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m thinking yes but there might be some limits to how big of a boat can just be floating above the water

  • @jimj2683
    @jimj2683 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could also pump air bubbles out of the leading edges of the foils for even lower drag at high speed. The foil could also extend its wingspan at slower speeds and shorten at higher speeds for even lower drag.
    Perhaps the propellers could be on the front of the foil to cause more cavitation bubbles for less surface drag on the motor.

  • @RomboutVersluijs
    @RomboutVersluijs ปีที่แล้ว

    Those foils must stand brutal forces, wonder what they are made of

  • @jimj2683
    @jimj2683 ปีที่แล้ว

    Perhaps an even more efficient solution with less drag in the water would be to have a surface piercing propeller attached to a small floating/planing box. Then have the motor in the hull with a universal coupling to the axle shaft down to the propeller. That way the propeller is just sliding on top of the water at any level the hydrofoil is above the water. Alternatively the motor could be down in the floating/planing box to more easily get cooled by the water.

    Why does the Candela C8 weigh 1250 kg without battery and motor when it is made of carbon fiber?? A same length Anytec aluminum boat weighs 1300kg without motor... I thought carbon fiber would be roughly 50% lighter than aluminum if done perfectly.

    Love your innovation !
    I hope some day your design are able to scale up to over 100 feet Hydrofoil Expedition Catamaran that can create it own hydrogen fuel cell solar power Catamaran ! So much free electricity energy from the Sun to create hydrogen fuel from the sea water, with endless free clean energy to travel anywhere in the ocean .
    Hope to see this happen someday !
