Abandoned $5.5 Million MEGA Mansion | Everything Left Behind

- Today you are coming with me on an exploration of an abandoned $5.5 million dollar mega mansion. It’s so bizarre to see how many of these giant homes are left behind in America only to be destroyed by elements, people, and developers. But behind every abandoned home is a unique story of someone’s life.
In today’s episode we are taking a trip down south to a massive abandoned mansion that was last owned by an art and antique dealer, the 10,000 square foot mansion dates all the way back to 1920 being built in a Mediterranean style. But what’s very unique about this place is that behind the main house is a horse shoe shaped structure that last served as luxurious condominiums. the family that lived here bought the mansion in the 1990s and ran their business from home, but in 2005 the man passed away due to an illness and his wife was unable to keep up with the mortgage. The bank eventually took over the property and ultimately left it abandoned with everything still inside. So join me today and let’s see what’s left.

The Japanese tatami room is used for anything from dining to tea to meditation or sleeping. The grass mats on the floor are called tatami mats. That chair is really out of place, since traditionally there would be floor pillows to sit on and if used for dining there would be a very large square table that the family would sit on the floor and eat at the table. Smaller individual tables wiuld be used for tea. Rolled up mats would be in a corner for sleeping, and would be unrolled at night. Hope that helps!! Great house!!
❤ that room 😊
I think they used it for martial arts. The room is built with springs and padded floors.
I love how the banks / mortgage lenders throw people out just to let these homes decay away! Very compassionate.
If you let people stay in property they didn't pay for and word got around people would stop paying because they would know that nothing would happen.
What bank are employed by? Lol@@MagMan4x4
@@MagMan4x4 Boo hoo, the banks would suffer.
@@rdred8693 lmao which means we would ALL suffer.
Yes to , as a former landlord and knowing others, n renters stiff the landlord because they can stay for free for YEARS because of pro-tenancy laws (at least in CA) whilst landlords have to pay property taxes and other expenses. This is not a case where some elderly pensioner is living in a small home that he can’t afford to fix up but a HUGE mansion and they can move to a smaller place. People ALL have financial responsibilities and if they can’t afford it they SHOULD move out.
I like the way you tell the story behind it and also how respectful you are to the houses
Same here, hi happy new year
The words “More money than taste” come to mind. What a hodgepodge!
Beautiful house. Sad how a bank will take the house and just let it sit to rot
It's beautiful house, hi how are you doing?
It's because it's just another transaction to the banks. It's just numbers on paper. Someone would love buying all that furniture. It's sad to think it all rotts and gets demolished
It's a tax write-off for the mortgage company
Yeah, it's just so wasteful.
Agenda 2030 . . . "You will own nothing and be happy"
They don't care as they intend to take everything from us.
Amazing how at one time the home is full of hustle and bustle and love, and in the blink of an eye, it’s all left to despair very sad and anyways
The doorframe 24:16 That design is called Greek Key. It's not an egyptian design, it is Greek ; as are the Greek column frescas on either side of the previous door.
I was telling the tv that 😂. That room has a very Greek/Roman vibe with the tile, fountain, and Greek key. The stain glass at the end of the room is so confusing and completely different vibe.
Thank you for the info ❤ I love people sharing knowledge of the architecture / style of these homes that some people are not familiar with. 🙏🏽
How interesting to still have a person living in 1 of the condos. I was hoping the entire time there would be a walk through and convo with the residents
Yes! Love the scriptures at the beginnings and the history of the homes you show us.
I'm sure the neighbors were "thrilled" when they put up that hideous detached horseshoe Condo disaster
I wonder if the people owned the home owned the Condos since it looks like it's on the same property. Maybe they just lost everything unfortunately or maybe decided to go back to China since the husband passed and to ship all that furniture would have cost a fortune so they left it behind and whatever was sold at auction went to the bank to cover what was owed. Really sad.
it would be intersting if you could find out more about the people who used to live in these houses, I always wonder about that, how the houses ended up abandoned
@RepentandbelieveinJesusChrist_ Most hilarious nonsense post of the week!!!!!!!!!!!
Three top reasons:
1. Change of fortune
2. Death
3. Marital change
Number 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man passes away, and does not have enough life insurance !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you going to live large, you have to insure you life so your family is cared for.
Yessss I didn’t even think that way WOW
Nomanie nie wyprowadzili się
Your voice is very relaxing.
Makes me wanna poo!
Incredibly stunning home. Huge entry room with the two fireplaces and room with the fountain were my favorites. The furniture is worth a small fortune. I’m always struck by light fixtures in these old homes and these did not disappoint. Stained glass amazing. Weird to have those condos out back. Hope it doesn’t get destroyed. Thanks for sharing this magnificent home!
I would not call it a home. Its a hotel for me
I wonder if the condos were intended for long term out of town business associates to stay, rather than having to stay in a hotel or get an apartment. Second stream of income.
I'm so glad you are back to your old self again. Sometimes life gets in the way of living and has to be dealt with before we can move onward and upward. Much love and respect to you❤❤.
Rooms with Tatami mats are commonly recognized as Washitsu, which literally means Japanese-style room. Washitsu were designed by Samurai officials for Samurai warriors residences in the 14th century. The sliding doors are called Shoji. This washitsu does look like it was used for meditation because it appears to be an extension of maybe a small library or possibly a small bedroom.. It wouldn't have made sense to be used to entertain guests as a dining room or as a martial arts studio. But now days they are used for any purpose the owner wishes.
The screens are called changing or privacy screens so you guessed correctly. I once saw a 10 panel asian design privacy screen. It was magnificent and I kick myself for not buying it when I had the chance.
I wondered if he was correct about the family being Chinese, if what he says is true, it doesn’t make too much sense as Chinese normally would not have Japanese type of room.
Well, I am Chinese and none of the people my family knew had one but you could be right, if you have a lot of rooms, you can have anything.
I'm half Japanese and I would love to have a Washitsu in my home like this one.
I would say that this place was definitely used to run a business from with the fountain room being used as the main reception area to greet clients. The screen with the birds on it is called a modesty screen. Fab video again ❤
That meditation room is a tatami room found in many Japanese houses and apartments. The owner may have been Japanese.
Great video. Sometimes, it's hard for me to watch these because I see a lot of greed and waste. However, I'm glad you make these.
I just love your video’s and how you give a back story about every property. Please keep the abandoned video’s coming! Thank you Carter.
Wow, such an amazing place. It is a shame to see it wasting away. Beautiful home. The fountain with the stained glass has to be my favorite part of the mansion. Thanks for sharing this beauty. Happy New Year!!
It’s really sad, you can’t help wonder what pain and tragedy left this place to just ruin. The stain glass is beyond amazing.
Exactly
How do you know that they had pain and tragedy, maybe they did not plan well and overextended themselves.
I would turn this into a venue and the condos a place where people can stay. Imagine cocktail hour or your guests hanging out in the area with the fountain
Beautiful home so sad ppl got evicted and it just sits there to rot while so many people are homeless and can't even afford regular housing 😞
I totally agree imagine how many people could have shelter in there this life is madness
Yes, if rich people instead of being extravagant mansions used some of their money to build affordable housing (yes, still get rent but modest amounts) sort of like Levittown, boring cookie cutter but affordable housing.
I just love this tour! Unfortunately, I get "sea sick" very easily....I could only watch 15 min with the motion of the camera...😫 I fast forwarded to the fountain room....just beautiful! It is ashame that no one has taken it over and fixed it up....😥
I’m not enjoying the swinging of the camera either 😢
I agree!
i felt dizzy too
You must have been rushing with the fast movement of the camera. Please slow down
I agree, i don't normally get affected but this one was bad for me.
Bankz if you're reading this, invest in a gimbal like your friend has in this video, it will stabilise the movement massively and wont make people get dizzy or feel sick. ❤
Only explorer I trust to not disappoint 😌 plz never stop making these kinda videos idk what id do
Ethan Minnie is very good but he only does empty houses
Urban exploration with Kappy is good too, especially if you like older homes
Amen !
I second this🙌🙌👏👏👊👊👊👊👊🫶🫶🫶✌️✌️
Bros Of Decay are great too.
Beautiful and unique! I would have thought the stained glass room would have been a solarium to grow plants. Looks like they ran their business in it instead. So very sad to see it wasted with no one caring for it! So glad you’re back! We’ve missed you BigBankz!
Hope you & the fam are doing well!
Lots of great stuff in that beautiful place! Wonderful coverage of it all, as usual!
Happy New Year BigBankz 🙋🏽 to you and your Family and Friends ✝️. This expedition was totally awesome 💯‼️ enjoy the rest of your weekend ‼️👋🏾
I really like your channel.Especially enjoy the slow cinematic filming that you do it's very well done.
What a structure! Can't wait to hear the story behind it
You have got to be the best person along with your camera man/friend to visit these abandoned places… you respect all the places that you visit not like others, I’ve tried to watch but couldn’t … you know how to show home these places thank you 👌
I think your work is decent, but just some honest criticism with respect…you repeat yourself way too much and you focus too many times on the same things/areas; you go over something repeatedly. The reason I’m pointing this out is you find some amazing homes and you do have a gift for storytelling. You also have a genuine air of friendliness and goodness.
That stained glass and that fountain is beautiful
What a house. It's beautiful. Happy new year Bankz. Looking forward to more tours. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Incredible!!! Thanks for sharing this time capsule with us!
What a beautiful home and that furniture is gorgeous but at the same time it’s sad. Thank you for sharing. Appreciate everything you do for us 🙏🏻. Have a wonderful evening 😊
That fountain room is very gorgeous. Very reminiscent of commercial developments. The detail in the woodwork, the feeling of openness in so many rooms (the office either a view!) I can see so many missed opportunities for repurposing that home. Too bad the bank didn’t think to do anything about it! Thanks for sharing this amazing place with us and Happy NewYear BigBankz
i love the master bedroom that has the light blue walls .i bet when it was new or in better shape ,it was beautiful ❤️ thank you big bankz
I love your videos! You’re very good at what you do!
Amazing find!! Always looking forward to your videos. Please never stop!!
TIME HAS CAME 🎉NOW WE GET TO SEE ANOTHER GREAT SHOW 💕🙌🏽💕
You are one of the best story tellers I have ever listened to. Please keep doing your videos.
Nice
Your voice is very calming and soothing to listen to.
This is probably one of my top favorites of your explores . I always look forward to your videos. I can only imagine the real grandeur of how it was with all of their contents. Keep up the good work 🙂
Beautiful property! Watching from Ohio. Must say you’ve become my favorite abandoned house You Tuber. Love that you try to give some history and that you respect the homes.
Wow thank you..... love your work.
Wow,what a amazing place. The furniture are stunning, such a shame they left behind. The stained glass was incredible😍Thanks for another awesome explore.I wish you a Happy New Year, stay safe and healthy.Greetings from Germany🙂

My favourite is the stained glass.

color in the master bedroom is so lovely! I love those ultra pastels that seem to change color as the light changes.
Another awesome video!!! Intro music was perfect. What a huge place. Thanks for sharing.
Looks awesome, and I can't wait to see it😊
This home is absolutely beautiful! I love the woodwork and carvings. I couldn’t imagine living there. Awesome 👍
How could somebody be living in the condos when the other two are in such bad shape
Im so glad ur back. I hope all is good. Blessings to u. The fountain was cool. Thank u for taking ur time to show all these homes. 😊
Sounds interesting! Can't wait😊
BIG BANKS I LIKE THE BIBLE VERSES YOU PLACE IN YOUR VIDEOS, THANKS FOR BRINGING US THOSE VIDEOS, I KNOW ITS COLD AND FREEZING TEMPS OR WHEN IS SUMMER TIME IS TOO HOT AND YOU ARE THERE LOOKING FOR THOSE ABANDONED HOMES ... THANKS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 😅
Amazing home and great video. You always take your time and capture the beauty of all the places you visit! You're also very respectful of these places. It's always so sad to see these beautiful homes just left to whatever their future holds. I blows my mind that people leave so much furniture behind.
Glad you're back and can't wait for more of your videos.
Incredible location. Great job on the video and soundtrack, matched perfectly. I can tell you enjoyed this one . Thanks for sharing :).
Happy New Year! This house was amazing. Loved the details and design. Wish someone could keep restoring it. I was disappointed with the kitchen as I felt it was really dark and could have been opened up with the other room to use as an eating area/kitchen. Beautiful home.
Whoever was restoring it, had a different direction in mind vs. maintaining the original character of the original home as noticed by the modern big box store fixtures (ugh) that were intended to replace the chandeliers, etc. Not all of it was original either. The 80s tilework was not great in the fountain room, nor the large picture windows in that space. I wonder if it was entirely added on in the 1980s-90s or at one time was an open courtyard? Would have loved to know how it was originally used back in its glory. Still love seeing these homes, as they are reminders of our past, present, and future. Thanks for filming!
Now that's going to be interesting 😊
Happy New Year to you to! I loved the fountain area the most, but the whole house was really incredible, thank you for sharing!!!🙂
amazing to have you back and like always amazing video
how do you find these places?
That room earth the Asian style, kind of raised, reminds me of the Buddhist shrines where you'd go to meditate, and pay homage/worship/offer prayers to Buddah, with the burning delicious incense aromas, lovely decorations for protection, prosperity, peace, and million year happiness, with beautiful offering bowls filled with fruit and coins.
That's what it reminds me of and looks like to me.
I get the sense that the man who died in 2005 passed suddenly, and perhaps tragically.
His wife may not have been able to cope with the loss and fell deep into soul crushing grief.
Those condos in the back very well may have been residences for family.
I just get the sense there was a horrible circumstance that befell this couple and family. It's the kind of feeling that clenches your heart with sorrow.
Sadness, so much sadness.
This is so beautiful and so sad 😢 Wishing you a Happy New Year!
What a great home! Awesome video. Love the symphony at the end for a grand mansion.
I kinda feel like this place is still being renovated right now. Well I hope it is! Such a beautiful home! But wayyyyy too much carpet.
The detail on the molding 8s Greek. It was part of the original home. The modern and Asian looks out of place in the house.
Beautiful place, thank you. I loved the stained glass above the fountain
Thank you for another awesome exploration..this place is gorgeous 😊😊
Also following on Facebook so amazing another find I love it and glad to see your gf enjoys these amazing findings!! Wish you both the very best!!
GLAD TO SEE YOU BACK
Happy new year , great exploring
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
Great Video,
Gorgeous Home.
You Never Disappoint.❤❤
💯💯
Big Banksia ,Happy New Year.🎉 I'm not sure why someone would build condos behind a big beautiful bid home? 🤔. Thanks for this. God Bless. 🙏
Big Bankz love you put scriptures up😊
Me too 🙏🏽✝️
Apsuloutly an amazing place a I think the fountain area was my favorite 😍 Thank you for sharing with us. Happy new year and take care.
Amazing.love your videos 😊happy new year🎉
It’s definitely still being renovated. There might be a pause, but there’s no way they would leave all of those tools and just disregard all of that furniture. The bank still owns the house. Obviously, there’s a lot of money to be made here. If it were truly abandoned and left that place would be so vandalized, windows would be broken, tons of graffiti, potential homeless people living in there, kid partying and trashing it, so the fact that it was in fairly good condition tells me someone or some people must keep an eye on it. Also thieves (people) or groups would’ve come by there with trucks and unloaded all that furniture by now and sold it. It’s possible the nice gentleman on this channel reached out to somebody before they went there who knows but either way a cool place!
It’s shocking that this was built in the 1929s??! I see some of it in the architectural details but the 1990s renovation probably ruined a lot. Too bad you can snag the furniture or fixtures! I saw a $60k Murano Glass tube glass chandelier in one of the houses you explored. Vandals had broken some of the tubes-sadly. Thanks for sharing! Hope you keep exploring and learning (you should study interior design or take a 101 course so you can use the right terminology)
White brick seems much newer than 1929
Great job filming this enormous house!
The entry 😱😍👏🏼 What an amazing place 🤗
Wonder why someone still lives in one of the condos
& how is that even possible since the bank foreclosed on the land.

omg been waiting on this one!!!
Happy New year that place looks awesome
Can't wait🎉!!😮
I really love your videos Bigbankz!
Hi,how are you doing?
My husband and I love watching your videos. This one has us both completely baffled. The layout makes absolutely no sense whatsoever? Looks like it was definitely used as a business at some point but regardless of that, the original build is chaotic. I really want to know the history now. 🤔🤯
This house was amazing! The amount of left behind furniture and new fixtures is mind boggling!!
If the guy was an art dealer I would think those paintings are most likely authentic and valuable. It would have been cool to see the artist signature on them.
Love your content bro but I just gotta say you be fresh wit the fits bro 💪🏾 much love from Arkansas
I am excited!
That house was amazing thank you for showing it
Beautiful home! Thanks for sharing. I am always so curious as to how they became abandoned and why certain items are left behind and others are not? Just want to go back and see the time when they were clearing it out. 😀
Hello, how are you doing?
Beautiful and sad .❤
This house is gorgeous! It kills me, seeing all the newly added furnishings, just to let it rot. I would love living there!
I loved the cabinet with the face on it. I like watching your videos while doing doctoral graduate work online-so it kinda keeps me company and going. No cursing or anything. Just moderate history and I can scroll the comments for more facts. Keep up the good work.
