- This mega mansion was constructed in 1976 with 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms with a massive indoor pool. This place seems to have been abandoned around 2010. It’s is said that the family last to live here were from China who had successful businesses around the area. But somehow they lost it all and had to sell the house. It was then bought by a developer who possibly has plans to demolish the house or remodel. Today it’s sits abandoned with many things left behind! Hopefully this beautiful home can be saved an enjoyed again. There’s really much else we could find out about the family but nonetheless we are ready to show you what’s left!

This mansion is extremely unique , should not be destroyed.
No one is tearing that place down. Use your head folks. It is obviously stuck in probate or some other court proceeding which is taking a long time especially if it involves a foreign country.
A bit of shoring up and renovation could house many people in micro apartments 🤔

Aside from the pink carpets, that architecture was ahead of its time, the trimmings, tiling, stone work, big open areas... amazing!!!

if i was rich i would buy and restore this house literally so beautiful all the tiny details i noticed like the sinks with the flowers and all the pink detailing this is like my dream house i can imagine in it in its prime in the late 70’s absolutely beautiful

Do you have any idea how much it would take to restore I’m in construction management and something like this would cost well over 5 million to fully restored come on dude no one is going to do that

That pool is deep enough to dive into!! And the condition of the sauna is BRAND NEW! The wood is spot less and perfect 👌

The outer exterior is unique which helps the building stay the test of time without seeming outdated.
Amazing house!!! I always try to picture in my mind what these abandoned places were like when they were lived in. The birthday parties, holidays, family gatherings, children runnung around playing and jumping in the pool, etc... all the memories that were made in this house are etched into their minds forever. I'm shocked people haven't stolen the TV, record player, equalizer and the other electronic stuff left behind. I'm also surprised young kids haven't ripped the iPad out of the wall. Maybe they tried but couldn't get it out... thank you sm for the tour! ❤

Now I’m sure people looking at the house like he did in this video also destroyed it some more but I’ve actually seen this house in person. Someone also tired to burn it down like 7 months ago I saw in another video that’s why they are talking about tearing it down.
The amount of detail in that house speaks volumes of how a real boss lives his life. Stunning

You can always look up the records through any real estate or city records. But as soon as I saw the design in the floor I knew I had an idea of who that house may have belonged to. Those leaves in the floor are quite significant and most UN ambassadors or representatives have them in their homes. The garden by the kitchen was for fresh herbs for cooking. Many rich Aisian homes have them or used too. The rooms off the side of the kitchen were for the servants or chef quarters
So it was a Chinese ambassador for the UN that had to leave the US in 2010?
Apearantly the investor does some minor maintainance to the garden and outside atleast. You see some manicured hedges, and grass would be largely overgrown after 12 years
No address was provided by the guy who shot this video. He didn't want the house to be vandalized any further. So, someone would have to recognize it and knowexactly where it is to do that.
I'm sure this place is very far away from me, so I wouldn't have any idea how to look up that information.

I love this house. If I had money, I’d buy it and renovate it. I’d keep the wood and natural stone. I actually like the pool area. Quite amazing. I love the courtyards too. This house would be great with some solar panels and new technology. It has so much natural light.

This is apparently one of renowned architect Norman Jaffe's BEST designs! (Too bad it is/ was sitting on a 4 acre LOT in about the most sought after zipcode/ area, in the US! (Where one might well be able to either resell the acreage for a 25- 50,000 sq. ft, mega- mansion? Or perhaps even subdivide that property, into 2- 4 lots?!) Even IF they "part it out" for a similar design construct... or "relocate it, St. Elsewhere..." it's a crying SHAME! (Along with those prior owners "remodeling," an architectural MASTERPIECE (in pink and green + garish gold plate, etc. in the '90s!) designed by a TOP 20th Century modernist, architect!!!

This house is absolutely stunning. It was built the year I was born (76). I didn't think 70's houses could be that extravagant. Most of the abandoned houses i've seen explorers go into from the 70's era definitely don't look like this one. It had so much sunlight and so many unique features that it made it such an awesome explore. I've always wondered why teenagers feel the need to destroy properties and bust out windows. I mean, does it make them feel good or what? I will never understand. Thank you for the tour of this great house. I love it!

If you watch the beginning of the video he says 96 but in the right upper corner he put *1976* to show he said the wrong thing and then after that he said 90's but again corrected it by showing *70's* in the top right corner again.

Very cool house! The stairs from the kitchen to the second floor was most likely the maids living quarters. Gives the maid direct access to the kitchen. That's why the bathroom wasn't as fancy. The panel with the switches on the wall probably told the maid which area she was being called to. Fun fact, those weren't broken records on the floor. Those were "Laser Discs" . Before there were DVD's or Blue-Ray you had Laser Discs for high quality video. Great video guys!!

Recognized this house immediately in the thumbnail as I once stumbled across it while doing some hiking with a friend. It’s a beautiful design and it’s a shame to see it vandalized. Thanks for making these videos it’s both fascinating and sad to see these places that once were and to think of all the people and memories that passed through them.

That is why they should never take so long in trying to decide whether to renovate it or tear it down ,as longer it's sits vacant the higher chance of more kids coming in to vandalize it ,not sure who is even responsible if a kid gets hurt while vandalizing it
You should mention all the cedar wood in most of the closets. You know it repels moths that eat clothing. This place is great!❤😊
This house is a unique treasure and should definitely be preserved. It appears to be nicely built and I would imagine can withstand the elements for years to come. Especially for the fact that's it's partially underground. I wish I could afford to buy and restore/renovate it. I would in a heartbeat for sure. I mean who has his/hers master tubs???? 😭

Top notch for mid 70's build for sure. Ultra contemporary with the diagonally set slats on the wall , sky lights in the living room floor to ceiling windows with some at 45 degree slants. The architectural vocabulary of this mansion was amazing . The previous owners spent a pretty penny having that house designed and built to modern for the day arch specs . Once again an amazing find and a crying shame if it is scheduled to be torn down. I would live there and rehab the place in a heart beat . Glad that you were able to document it before it's gone .

Love this house. So funny that the "records" smashed on the floor are laser discs, not vinyl. And the "iPads" in the walls weren't. Probably security screens.
Thanks for calling those out. Not hating on the young buck here, but it's a pretty easy google to figure out what those things are. Considering these kids are internet natives, I'm a little disappointed they didn't think to do some cursory research before throwing this out there.

Those two areas in the middle of the house surrounded by windows or walls on all four sides, open sky, are called atriums. I think courtyards usually have outside access. I grew up in house with an atrium, it was a great feature. Also I think the cook & or housekeeper lived in the 'cold' plain rooms off the kitchen. No fancy bathrooms for the help.
I'm definitely a fan of all the wood, stonework and windows. I would have loved to see the views from all those windows where the blinds/curtains were closed. This place is a weird mix of modern rustic (wood, natural stonework, deer antler lights) those super fancy bathrooms with the gold fixtures, etc. and then the really plain kitchen and extra bedrooms. The pool and the area around it were my favorite here.

I don’t often like huge mansions due to the high degree of grotesquely designed features lacking any taste, but this one seems pretty nice. I think that one room you didn’t know the purpose of is a sitting room. I really like the pool area. That one is cool.

I can’t even imagine living like this. This is a pretty cool find for sure.
There is so much potential in this mansion that it would be a shame to demolish. I am still amazed at how the interior changes from an almost mountain modern to gold swans and stained glass doors that do not compliment anything in the rest of the house. The kitchen is little more that a very large residential space. It needs to be a full blown commercial set up with double ovens, ranges and separate refrigerator and freezer. That door leading out of the kitchen looks like it came from Lowe's or Home Depot. Everything that doesn't compliment the modern theme needs to be removed, rethought, redesigned, and replaced. This could indeed be a residential master piece.
WOW WOW WOW!!! This is such a unique home and built with such amazing quality - the woodwork, the stonework, the marble, the granite, the pool, the sauna, the light fixtures, the bathrooms, the plumbing fixtures, the closets, the mirrors, the leaded and stained glass, the windows and doors, the courtyard and garden spaces - incredible!! No expense was spared!!
In that massive master suite, the plumbing fixtures were probably gold plated copper or brass, because one can see the verdigris tarnish/stain on some of them.
That smaller space where it was cold, looked like a bathrooms/bedrooms/kitchenette area...I'm guessing that was servant's quarters.
I wish there was existing blueprints of the floorplan somewhere. That would be pretty amazing.
This home SHOULD NOT BE DESTROYED! SO MUCH that remains is very salvageable.
If this home is destroyed, that would be just shameful!! Hopefully it'll be remodeled, but in the same opulence.
A lot of the old fixtures could be sold/auctioned off to people interested in giving them new life. ALL of the bathtubs in this home are probably porcelain over cast iron. Very durable!! And new jet systems can be put in the jetted tubs and upcycled.
If I had money, disposable income type of money, I'd LOVE to buy this and lovingly restore it, instead of stripping the original character from it!!

When a house has a multi room bathroom with an upstairs and a downstairs and it's own staircase, you are definitely rolling In money. Either that, or you are REALLY into bathrooms. To bad it's getting demolished, I would love a 2 story bathroom with its own staircase😁

The back staircase off kitchen took you up to an entire separate living quarter. Probably where Maid or Nanny lived. Also laundry area was near there. Loved the house.
The iPads in the walls are actually a Crestron system, it’s home automation, look it up, it’s amazing kit 👍🏻

The house looks to have a well thought out passive solar design. It would be interesting to know who the architect was, which may have an effect on value, and its unique design may add more value if restored and updated, rather than demolishing it, so as to put a few more houses in an area that does not appear to have a land shortage.

@@SaraBellum777 his name was Norman jaffe. He is pretty famous. I find it hard to believe this house will be demolished. I hope he is mistaken. Most of the houses he built in the Hampton have been restored and are very sought after.

The layout of this house isn't bad for being built in the 70's, the pool room would definitely need to be updated, opened up because those extra rooms are a waste. Those rooms can be turned into a game room with pool table, possibly open up and extend the overhang where the patio was and add a small bar looking over the pool. Either way, I hope they don't demolish this house, the wood work, cedar all over the place is just amazing. Stone work looks exceptional too.

I adore this house and those style of design. It's honestly something you would see in 1970s 1980s movies/tv shows. I wouldn't be surprised if it was used in a film or show its that nice, great architecture. I'd love to know who the architect was.
Yes I agree this house is a masterpiece. The architect was Norman Jaffe in the 70's 👍 a genius that designed much of this style houses and unfortunately he died by suicide 😢
Norman Jaffe...in the past we thought great artistic work or buildings had to be preserved as a testament of our generations brilliance. With such a home getting demolished how will future tell that we too created great work. Where will they can inspiration from?
My favorite part is the sunken living room in front of the fireplace, I saw that in the late 80s at my dads friends house, it was so freaking cool with an octagon shaped couch t was custom made, I was nine at the time, and I still love interior design, so that, and all that beautiful, natural light, if I had the money, I definitely would not tear down. It’s very original, great find✌🏻💕

I think this is why extremely wealthy people often rent these kinds of homes. The upkeep is insanely tiresome, but then on top of that ....expensive. And then, you have to remodel every so often to keep it looking like it's supposed to...which is a fortune more. Gorgeous home. Thanks for posting.

This house is gorgeous. I am a very modern/contemporary type person, and this house is all that. As for all of the wood in this house... Normally, I would not like it, but because of all the beautiful stonework, the woodwork looks just as beautiful. The stonework and woodwork, enhance/accentuate one another. I rarely comment on abandoned houses, but this one is amazing. Thank you for taking the time to do this mansion. You always do such a great job, with your explorations. I'm having a hard time understanding the decision to put the bedrooms right next to an indoor pool. Even if it's salt water, to avoid the chlorine smell, you'd still have to contend with the moisture getting into the rugs and furniture.

I think that "entertainment room" off to the side of the master was just that. They're rich so it was probably an extra living room for the master as opposed to having the TV and entertainment in the bedroom

The architect who designed this unique gem is a genius.
The woodwork is stunning, the windows, the details in the bathrooms are amazing. The folks who owned it were definitely super-wealthy. The exterior look of the mansion is inspiring and avant-garde for the 70''s. This masterpiece cannot be demolished. The least the government should do to preserve it would be to convert it into a museum , a library or at least a university.

Agreed. I can't see an empty pool without thinking of the one in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. It was at an old soviet HQ that the US was using as a base. The empty pool had bullet holes in it and the story was that the taliban had executed people in it.

This place was so cool. Definitely one of the best you've explored.
"Cleaning system for the pool" is a central vacuum. Just plug the hose into a wall outlet and that thing automatically turns on. If you see one, also look in the kickspace under cabinets, because there were sometimes outlets you could turn on or off by kicking a switch and sweep dust into them.
This abandoned place is incredible & the ceiling in the pool area is gorgeous & sauna & the floor plan is amazing
I have to agree. This is a rare gem that could really shine again. This place speaks to me. Out of all the places you have shown us this is easily in my top 3.
Real shame that someone didn't see the potential here. Just really unique indeed.
We have a place in Australia that looks a bit like this and it did take quite a bit to renovate it but it sure was worth it.
It however is not as big of course. 6 bedrooms with the possibility of 7 and 3 1/2 baths. The grounds are muck smaller in comparison.
The biggest problem we have with that place is the driveway. It has such a deep incline to even get up to the garage.
I wish I could show our pictures of before and after.
But this place you are showing here is really spectacular and I wish we could get our hands on it. Unfortunately we just took on another property in Alaska where I spend so much time. We had always wanted a cabin and now have one.
I am still shocked this place will be demolished if not already.

Big houses are so interesting but so wildly impractical! We had a decent sized house and I remember thinking, how many places do I need to sit!

I'm surprised it has not been vandalized - there must be some security.
If it is to be demolished the wood should be recycled, used elsewhere.
It would also make for a good community centre if condos were built around it. Lots of potential.

Beautiful architecture and details! I hope they decide not to demolish it because it would be wonderful as a resort or retreat, even a winery with all the land.

I loved the whole house, in my mind I can't fathom why anyone in their right mind would want to tear it down. I would be living in it or find someone to rent it to. Loved it!!!

The house is surprisingly sound and only needs a bit of maintenance to get it into shape again because it is already in decent condition. It would be a shame to tear down such a nice house, especially since it has survived for so long.

This has been my favorite abandoned mansion so far! I truly hope they restore instead of rebuilding. I'm in absolute love with this location❤️ BTW I'm watching from the super small town of Forest City in Rutherford County North Carolina!! I bet you don't come down to these parts huh?
I truly like the way it is built into nature that could be a retreat for a family or couples.
I do believe the last room with the downgraded bathroom was the maid's quarters, with easy access to the laundry area. What a spectacular house. I always envision what it must have been like when it was filled with a family. Love your videos :)
