      No, this is not a parallax barrier. I've made them before. First, parallax barriers only work in one orientation (usually landscape). They also block half the pixels (to each eye) even in 2D, which makes them useless if not viewing 3D content. This is something entirely new.

    Mind thrilling! I knew about it (and ordered it as well😉) but honestly didn't believe it would work so good. Now I'm looking even more forward to apply this film to my iPhone 15 Pro Max soon. Question: the 3D seems only work with the dedicated app, right? And the files must be stored on the camera roll? How about playing full length 3D SBS movies in common formats like x.264 mkv from a USB-C connected SSD on the iPhone 15 Pro? 😜🎥

    • @josh_3D
      @josh_3D  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I think you will love the 3D quality, but you are right for now 3D can only be viewed using the supporting apps and is limited to local SBS files, not other formats yet. But the manufacturer allows anyone to make any type of app compatible with this, so hopefully people can discover this and make some amazing things happen. Oh, and their app also has a web browser that can be used to view SBS content online including TH-cam, but it’s kind of broken outside of China for now. I hear they are working on a fix

    If all you need is a screen protector to have a 3d device what is the point of paying premium for something like lume pad or spatial labs? If this is as simple as you are showing here, than you can, in theory, turn a Lenovo legion go into a powerful 720p 3ds just by applying a fancy screen protector.

    • @josh_3D
      @josh_3D  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      This is a very good question. From what I have seen so far there are no disadvantageous to applying a protection screen like this (maybe just 3D brightness taking a bit of a hit). You could in theory turn any display into a high resolution 3D display. It is genius technology that is close to perfected at this point. There would be something about owning a 3D smartphone that feels different though, and I'm sure whatever Leia releases with its partners is going to be mindblowingly good, including the app ecosystem. Apple is highly unlikely to release a 3D smartphone anytime in the next 5 years, so while Leia releases 3D smart phones for Android, this gives anyone an affordable way to upgrade their iPhones to 3D devices.

    • @TomsRCScalers
      @TomsRCScalers 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@josh_3D Exactly this. I think the real challenge and strengths of a company like Leia is on the software side. The Lumepad is great because of its big 3D ecosystem. The Acer SpatialLabs is great because of its SpatialLabs Center suite with TrueGame, supporting many official games on the Steam platform (while their movie player is still a joke to be honest). The more 3D capable hardware will pop up (and simple solutions like this), the more those companies are pushed to further develop their software to justify and selling their own hardware, linked to their own ecosystem. All this is good for the future of glasses free 3D, and I'm thrilled to see this happening. I hope those company are seeing your videos 😁

      @josh_3D  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I actually tested it out on an iPhone with a similar screen size as the 15 Pro Max (I think 14 plus) and it looked amazing, probably even better than it does on my iPhone 15 Pro. The benefit of the 15 Pro Max is that not only do you have the screen size, but if you use an app like Spatialify, you can take spatial photos and videos (including 60fps 3D) and view in 3D on your smartphone directly. I think they are exploring bringing it to more devices like tablets, laptops and possibly Android smartphones, but the priority is to start with iPhones.

    • @josh_3D
      @josh_3D  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It looks and feels amazing to use, and I would place it at the same level as the Lume Pad 2 in terms of resolution (which is extremely impressive because its cramming that same pixel density into much less surface area), with a dimmer screen in enhanced 3D mode, but much less crosstalk compared to the Lume Pad 2 (about the same level as Spatial Labs). The level of pop-out I think also on the same level as the Lume Pad 2, again with much less crosstalk.

    • @TomsRCScalers
      @TomsRCScalers 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@josh_3D As far as I have understood, the higher 3D resolution of the SpatialLabs Monitors and Laptops over the LumePad variants - beside their higher native screen resolution - is because the SpatialLabs uses less Pattern (total 2 views, each can use half of the native resolution) while the LumePad 2 is more flexible for different views and semi-holographic things with a trade of in 3D resolution (8 pattern/views in the current Lume Pad 2). This foil may add a 2 views parallax layer which would - thanks to the quite high native resolution of the iPhone still allow a very crisp image in 3D mode.
