    A comprised option for Berserker is to equip them with a one-handed axe with a shield. When the berserk buff goes up and you don't have the opportunity to unleash the aoe, you can hit the opponent unit with the shield, which will not trigger the berserk buff, and save the buff for later use.

    One thing worth mentioning about Clerics is they're the best users of Boon of Swiftness by a mile, so if they don't have any healing or exorcising to do they can essentially gift their turns to other units.
    Rune Fencers can cast BoS too, but you're giving up a lot more to do it. Clerics have a much higher level of Meditate, often able to cast it on turn 1, and aren't really giving up any potential damage by using that MP on a support spell instead of a finisher like a Rune Fencer is.

    • @Trokthar
      @Trokthar ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm really enjoying having BoS on Rune Fencer/Valkyrie when they get Conserve MP for a free spell-cast. There may be something else worth casting a free spell at the time, but often I find myself using BoS since it is the highest MP spell I have on them, thus preserving MP for finishers.

    • @michaelstapley4878
      @michaelstapley4878 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've kept cudgels on my clerics, and have honestly enjoyed the beat down they invoke on finishers once I've frightened/breached an opponent.
      But more often than not, especially since healing ramps down late game as a very unviable option, I've had my cleric toss BoS on my White Knights so I can get more velocity shift triggers.
      It's insane how wildly it messes with the turn order. Add paradigm shift on your warlock to give your white knight an immediate turn and another chance to proc velocity shift and you're laughing.

    • @schillelagh
      @schillelagh ปีที่แล้ว

      A great time for Rune Fencers to cast BoS is if you have an early Meditation proc before they are in range. The turn economy will pay off shortly.

    • @lukeellis2934
      @lukeellis2934 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a good backup spell on Clerics but by goodness is a Ravness Valkyrie with BoS and Ease an insanely useful team member. Especially with conserve MP. Her turn is always quick to roll around and unlike characters that sometimes need a turn to move up or whatnot I almost never lack something for her to do.

    Terror knights are pretty damn good, especially with 2H swords that can inflict Breach. They need some love during the first turns, but when the first Fearful Strikes are in, it's a huge tempo swing, especially if you are using a more melee focused team. White knights are a good balance for them to soak some damage and speed up things with Velocity Shift.

    • @TitaniumLegman
      @TitaniumLegman  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Absolutely, Terror Knights feel like a calss that is truly viable for the entire game. White Knights are just busted, they'll be fun to talk about in the next class overview lol.

    • @TitaniumLegman

      Basically, they need a turn or two to get their MP up and their Buffs active, but once they do they're, well, terrifying.

    One huge benefit I've used Beast Tamer for, is using lobber to debuff bosses. Brand of Sacrifice and Echo Stone will make some of the harder fights a lot more manageable.

  • @willh1655
    @willh1655 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Berserkers can dish out some massive damage. Late in ch 3 I had a berserker hit 4 enemies for 900 + EACH. One big tip I would give for berserkers is sometimes you can hit a bush or tree while berserk is active to get a better outcome. What this means is that if the enemy is not in a good position maybe you can hit a bush next to them.

    • @magegeneral6988
      @magegeneral6988 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not a bad idea. I use Berserkers with 1 handed hammers or Axes with a shield so instead of using my Berserk when not in a favorable position I shield bash which also helps with reposition of units.

    In the psp version, draconic magic is almost on par with apocrypha in term of damage but not summons, with the additional cost of wyrm gems, which is limited to 99 ofc. They also comes with several supports spells such as teleport, springboard, renewal and some buffs. However, the strongest point of draconic magic is the spell Starfall, which will exorcise any stilled undead or if you killed them with this spell.

    There is actually a reason to stick with the basic mages, in that they have Conserve RT. They can't use draconics but they can hand out status a lot faster than warlock/witch and still do fine damage with the higher level direct/indirect spells.

    Berserker has occasionally accidentally trivialized fights. My absolute best was Xapan. I had my units staggered so I could use major heal and get three of them without healing the enemy. So. Coincidentally this made it so that Xappy boi could hit FIVE ENEMIES WITH BERSERK. But wait, there's more! I also used that skill that increased his str when attacking (often does more damage than finishers), and he had a crit card and a physical damage card. So this man somehow only killed 1/5 enemies, but left 4 other enemies at less than 10% HP. So my next four units smacked them. So he basically almost singlehandedly killed about half of the enemy team. Bliss.

    Draconic magic are the strongest buyable AoE spells, trading more damage for smaller range. Plus Starfall has an added utility of stilling undead so it's a must especially for the PotD
    Clerics are generally bad in this game with potions healing more than what a cleric can heal. The utility of clerics lies in Resurrect, Ease, Major Heal and Boon of Swiftness so they might still see some use

  • @justsomejojo
    @justsomejojo ปีที่แล้ว

    Something about Rune Fencers and Valkyries that I didn't think about until it happened, is that they are extremely unique in that they have Meditate *and* are physically capable. Most other Meditate users are pure casters, but I quickly found myself being blown away by the sheer damage potential that is Rune Fencer finishing moves. Meditate 1 is great already, because they are fast, but Meditate II allows me to use my finisher as early as turn 1 when it activates and it felt incredibly broken throughout Chapter 2. I wasn't even using crossbows (which I imagine is where the magic happens in terms of early finishers) but spears.
    They really buffed this class to the high heavens and I'm here for it. I really liked them in LUCT in terms of concept, but they never felt strong enough to keep. Now, I legitimately consider them on the level of LUCT archers, just a lot more versatile.
    I also like Dragoons a whole lot. For one, they are my favorite class design right next to Beast Tamer, but their slayer skills granting 100% afflict rate to debuffs also makes them much more generally applicable. Spears are notably lacking in the debuff department (at least early on where I am, but they do get a Breached spear rather early. Combined with the AoE of spears, as well as a stronger Pincer attack, I actually find them quite valuable, which makes me VERY happy. They aren't as amazing as Terror Knight (Breached + Fear is awesome) but the added range of spears can make up for it.

    • @TitaniumLegman
      @TitaniumLegman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, Rune Fencer is STUPID busted in Reborn which I love, since they're such a cool idea that always felt a bit underserved. Good to see them get their time in the sun.

    On PSP version Ninja/Kunoichi class to OP.
    They have most movement and jump stats.
    Double-attack of sword gaining them twice as Sword skill exp.
    Crits making them kill 1 enemy one shot.
    On the end game most of my party was ninjas and kunoichi.
    On 5-7 turn, most of enemy downed or killed by them.
    Most of the game problem with autoleveling. You can only focus on one class or type of build.
    Changing class of character make them useless until you get some skill boosts.
    Typically you cannot focus on many classes, you choose 4-5 of them and go to the end.

      Status changes are your friends. Breach and frightened help low damage units like archers.
      What I enjoy is bow finisher status effects. Sleep arrow has saved my bacon, especially since I run 3 ranged units (2 2-H bow users, and Canopus with a 1-H bow) that's 3 instances of sleep for my finishing moves.

    Dragoons have the VIT growth of Knights and STR growth of Berserkers. They can also equip all spears and crossbows. They are not the "one trick ponies" that everyone keeps parroting they are.

    • @TitaniumLegman
      @TitaniumLegman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear you, but stat growths aren't anywhere near as important, or even relevant, in TOR as they are in something like FFT or Fire Emblem. It's not really a big mark in the Dragoon's favor, but it can be considered if you're really into min/maxing.

    • @michaelstapley4878
      @michaelstapley4878 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stat growths are a piece of the pie.
      In TO: LUCT where you can equip and swap skills from class to class, absolutely.
      Here in Reborn, where with some classes, even with only 4 skill sets, I still struggle to find something relevant to slot into place, stat growths mean just a bit less.
      Now. In end game, where the level cap is removed, I'd definitely grind a Dragoon from lvl 1 to max then swap him to a better combat class.
      Progressing through the game though? I saw little point in keeping my Dragoon in my squad rotation.

    • @mattsoko1980

    Dragon magic hits all enemies in the original game for 80 mp a pop. It's super late in the original game. There's forbidden magic that did a similar effect, but hit your team as well, mkaing it far less awesome, but costs less at 60 mp. With Dragon magic and starion/starlight (a light magic spell hits whole battlefield and kills undead.) you can safely kill all enemies from across the battlefield. This all might have changed, but that was the original set up. You go that would be too easy and boring....well there's some massive structures in this game with dozens of fights....so you might reach a point where you want to just get through them.

    I have a few questions and I'm near the start of chapter 3
    1. Is there any advantage to changing someone to Warlock before I've found a spellbook?
    2. What should I be doing with the Ninja? I was thinking about blowguns because i like her as a pure debuffer but how do the on-hit debuffs work and will they get overwritten when her skills proc? She's also the only unit I have that always gets knocked out seemingly most encounters. Also find her very MP hungry and I'm disappointed by how slow the AoE spells come online although they can be nasty with a crit buff.
    3. Should I try to finish the Forest dungeon at Union lv 19? I'm currently at Balhanna Highlands.

    • @TitaniumLegman
      @TitaniumLegman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure! Lets see how I can help ya out CC.
      1. Warlock are just strictly better damage dealers than Wizards, even without spellbooks. If you're just looking for more magic damage, there's little reason NOT to change immediately. It'll also help you deal with Golems when you occasionally encounter them.
      2. For the debuff build you're talking about, you should consider bringing an archer with eagle eye to support her. EAgle Eye makes on hit effects work 100% of the time, so should make your blowguns much more useful. AFAIK her status skills shouldn't override her blowgun ones either, as Terror Knights can use their fear on hit ability and still inflict breached with the greatswords. Should work the same way. As for her survivability, I'd definitely pack steel stance if you have it, and equip her with some craftable fruit for quick hp and mp recovery.
      3. You can't actually "finish" the Wildwood until Chapter 4, as there are more maps that unlock in it at that point. However, if you want to run through it now you'll still get plenty of loot, money, and potentially recruits, so it's not a terrible idea.

    Hey man, thanks for the video! As a long time fft fan, I am happy to be able to play tactics for the first time. A few questions I couldn't find answers for on the internet, if that's ok. How do units receive stats when levelling up? Is there some kind of base growth which means some are more lucky? And would you say a balanced team works better generally or min maxing with many ninjas for example ? Thanks a lot in advance

    • @TitaniumLegman
      @TitaniumLegman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you enjoyed the video! I'm happy to answer what questions I can.
      AFAIK growths are based SOLELY on the class in question. I do believe there's still some randomness at play, so for example two identical knights won't get the exact same stat ups at level 10. But the overall map of stat ups for them will look quite similar by the time they hit 50. What you want to look at are the bast stats of units, which is part of what makes unique story units so good since they ALWAYS have better bases than generics.
      As far as team builds, I don't feel there's really one perfectly min/maxed comp. There's so many different tactical challenges that no one team will be perfect for everything, so a balance is good. That said, your specific example of ninjas may come the closest since they can do melee and ranged physical damage, decent ranged magic damage, and apply all sorts of status effects. They're just squishy and have little in the way of healing, so it would be a dangerous comp (fun tho I bet.)
      Hope that helps!

    • @TitaniumLegman

      It depends on what you want to do. Both are VERY viable classes, with Princess being a Divine healer, exorcism expert, and front line damage dealer with melee capabilities. Dark Priest focuses more on supporting the team bu inflicting mass debuffs on the enemy, and less on dealing damage. So the choice really comes down to what you want your team to do, and roles you need filled.

    new to the channel and looking to pick up this game. a couple of questions:
    1. does levelling up in a certain class still matters for stat growth? like if i wanted to pump Agi for RT (is this still how it works), i should slow levelling up my units until i unlock the ninja class and level them up as ninjas?
    2. are there any skills from another class that you can equip/carry over into another class?

    • @TitaniumLegman
      @TitaniumLegman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rob! Thanks for swinging by the channel!
      1. Stat growth matters, but only for the most min-max of pursuits. The game is more focused on what your gear is, and what your base stats are. Unless you're doing silly things like leveling as Wizard for 40 levels, then switching to Berserker, you shouldn't notice too much difference. Also as far as the community can tell atm, Agility only impacts accuracy now.
      2. Any skills that were transferable between classes have now been included in a class' skill list by default. For example, Knights used to have to switch to Cleric to get the skill Sanctuary. Now they get it by default. There is one character specific class in the late game that is the reverse, and can use any skill from any other class you've switched to, but that's an outlier.

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TitaniumLegman appreciate the responses.
      1. yeah i'm one of those min-maxers. i presume base stats are based on if the character is unique and their base class? i dont take it to the extreme but i do it if its convenient enough. so what stat affects RT now or is it purely determined by your class? then which class provides the best phys or magic atk growths?
      oh and wouldn't levelling up as wizard help with some of the warrior classes that pack spells if you want to emphasize them as casters like valkyries?
      2. ah that's too bad. so custom builds don't matter now. no more "multiclassing". it's all about switching to better classes and equips. i saw some weapons can inflict debuffs on hit and some gear allow you to get "reactions" when hit like counter.
      i used to play final fantasy tactics back in the day as well and this was an aspect i enjoyed immensely like getting double attack from ninja then switching to a knight-sword class to double attack with knight-swords by equipping double attack as support.
      follow up question: so you get all skills when you switch classes then you just pick for your loadout or do you have to level to unlock?

    • @TitaniumLegman
      @TitaniumLegman  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRobversion1 No problem!
      1. If you'd like, you can refer to this link. It's the compiled list of datamined Stat growths, which someone linked in my Discord.
      docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18SdmM1NgfGmEZC0KN4yoJFx5mvKuIEtBWZktHyOakIY/edit?usp=drivesdk
      The lowest STR growth is 3.05, and the highest is 3.45. Wizard sits at 3.05 and Berserker has 3.25. So it's a very minor difference overall, yet that's one of the more drastic differences. RT is based solely on class, gear, and if the character is a unique named character. All generics have the same base RT before considering class, whereas uniques have their own (typically better) RT. Note too that you get Stat charms that you use to directly increase character Stat levels, especially in the late game. It's easier to use those to patch up a Stat you're not happy with, than it is to be swapping back and forth between classes.
      2. There's no multiclassing like in FFT, no. However it's not about upgrading to strictly better gear as often as you might think. As you pointed out, different gear has different stats, as well as resistances and on hit effects, skills that they grant, etc etc. For example, basic leather armor is actually the best physical offense chest piece for the first chunk of the game as it gives good atk and it's light, so even as you get tankier stuff you'll want to keep some characters in it. The game is about build crafting through careful selection of gear and skills now, and that's where you'll find what I think of as different class builds. As for how you get skills, it's all level based. Your character's level is locked in across all classes, so a level 20 character will have access to whatever skills are available up to level 20 in whatever class they're currently in, even if you switch from Knight to Wizard.

      @@TitaniumLegman been binge watching your vids btw and subscribed. noticed you covered another game i loved when i was younger: front mission so will definitely be following your content if you're providing mechanics deep dive content in these types of games. anyway:
      1. the link is very useful. so warriors, warlocks and witches have the best stat growth across the board for generic classes but the difference from the one with the weakest stat growth is less than 1 point. so since levelling up for RT is out the window and as you said in another vid debuffs are king in TO:R, is mind the next "god stat"? is getting debuffs to land based on mind regardless if its coming from a weapon on-hit effect, a physical attack or a spell?
      seeing as well that the unique classes have better stat growths in general so better to level up as them until max level?
      2. noted so basically you're still levelling up and that determines which skills are unlocked when you switch classes.
      follow up: which stat affect magical/physical accuracy now in TO:R? i'm more of a speed>accuracy>dmg kind of optimizer.

    • @TitaniumLegman
      @TitaniumLegman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I'm glad to hear you've been watching my stuff! Hope it's been useful for ya. :D
      Mind is very good, yes, for the exact reasons you've described. However I'd hesitate to say that it's the god stat. I'd hesitate to say there's ANY god stat beyond RT, even tho RT is not something you can really level. While mind is important due to status application and debuffs, you can achieve those with items and on hit effects as well as with spells. Items are guaranteed to apply so long as the target is actually able to be affected (some bosses just aren't.)
      As far as those on hit effects and their chance to be applied, I'm unsure if we know how that works yet. We do know that any effect that gives your attack a 100% chance to hit (fearful impact, for example) will also give the debuff the same guaranteed chance to be applied. Without an ability like that in play, I'm not sure what affects that percentage if anything. Also, side note, Mind is a big part of magic damage calculation as well. Another point in its favor.
      If you can level as a unique class, it would statistically be better to do so, yes.
      Agility is your accuracy king, I believe for both magic and physical. But it's worth noting that by the endgame most attacks other than status application wind up at 100% accuracy unless you're inflicted with an accuracy debuff. Something to do with the stat scaling as characters level. So your ability to parry and block attacks via equipment and skill effects becomes MUCH more important than raw accuracy and dodge.
